I've been using Digit for about two years now. For the longest time, savings were nonexistent for me, but with this app I'm able to save without thinking about it. I almost shut it off when they started charging the $3 monthly fee, but after weighing the pros and cons, I decided that even with the fee, this is worth it. Edit: worth it at $3, but not the $5 they want to charge now. They cite additional features, and sure, but I have no interest in paying more for features I'll never use 🤷♂

Update 5/2023: I don't love the new interface since becoming Oportun. Also wish that instead of applying "low balance protection" where digit/oportun transfers money back into your account, only to take a savings withdrawl right back out; you could set it to pause saving until your account is back above a specified level. easy to use and totally worth the small monthly fee. has helped me save $200 in just under 2 months without ever noticing.

it's a really handy app, but the customer service is limited, and it takes a while for your savings to fully post. It also only checks your bank account balance twice a day. I reccomend it because it is helping me save. But I take off stars for some clunky issues. :Update: So after waiting almost a week for the app to transfer money from my acct to it I decided it's time to not pay for this slow app. I wouldn't trust a business with such awful support and ridiculous transfer times with my money.

Upon recently learning that the bill paying section of the app is closing (the main reason my ADHD brain was able to set aside and pay bills on time), along with having to close my Roth IRA for the same reason as above (yes, the tax penalty still occurs), i will be no longer using this service. They want to focus on the savings goal section (which they do good job at, which is why this isn't 1 star), but i really need the bill sorting functionality. Hopefully i can find a new app that does that.

I used this app as Digit and enjoyed it but I tried to close the account when it became Opportun because I was barely getting by. I even got the goodbye message then today they charged a subscription fee for an account that was supposed to be closed. Opportun is right because they were opportunistic in taking my money and probably won't refund the subscription fee that wasn't supposed to have been charged.

Edit: I love this app... When it works. My account is connected but after just a couple transfers it stops working. I've done my due diligence to ensure Plaid and my bank are connected and nothing is stopping the transfers. I've had nothing but issues since the name change. No idea if that has correlation, but it's frustrating. I absolutely love this app. It lets me adjust how much it takes out easily and I'm saving money without even knowing it. Best app I've downloaded all year.

Simple, and straightforward. I like how their bills section saves a month out and is great for those who need a way to set aside for fixed expenses without having to worry that you might eat into it with daily spending. I like the auto save for goals as well. Update Jan 2024, App crashes when attempting to add new bills. No response from support when emailed.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. This is ridiculous. Before, when they were just Digit, everything worked perfectly. Now I can't even get into the app at all, it just stays on the loading screen and won't move past it. I can't even access it from the website because my user id is my phone number, not an email. They should have never changed. The second I'm able to access my account, I'm withdrawaling EVERHTHING and shutting it down. 1/6/24 Everything is still horrible. I still can't access anything.

It was better when it was digit. I put this app on pause and came back a month ago. The security features are very concerning. I'm not sure what is the point of having biometric sign-in features is, and you set it to use the feature it reset itself every time I uninstalled this app over 5 times and set it to biometric and yet it manages to turn it off every time and manually have to put in my information that's fine but what is point of the features you can not even use. Now update trash

I've been a long-time user of Oportun, formerly Digit, but am frustrated with its user experience. Logging in is often hit-or-miss, requiring app restarts. The app stopped using fingerprint biometrics, switching to password-only access. Its saving feature works only on weekdays and struggles to meet set goals without manual input. This lack of efficiency is leading me to consider canceling my subscription, as it complicates rather than simplifies my life.

This service was 100x better when it was Digit. App is crawls at a snail's pace and randomly doesn't show any information. And now you guys are retiring Direct and laying off staff? The only thing left is Savings, which barely works like it used to. Last paycheck going into this account. Update: Entire paycheck frozen. Spending debit card doesn't work and no transfer option. Remaining balance checks AFTER 3/31/24. So I don't have this paycheck for 1 and 1/2 months?! Are you guys insane?!

FIX THE KEYPAD... THIS UPDATE DOESN'T HELP. I hit the number 2 and get a 0..I hit 5 and get a 0. The decimal doesn't work. This is horrible. The updated didn't help. I hate this app..and when I log in on my desktop, I don't get an option for fast transfer. On the app, I can't put in the correct amount to transfer cause of the stupid number pad that doesn't work. WTH am I paying $5/ month for if the stupid app, with all of the options, doesn't work properly.

App dropping features so I'm dropping stars. As usual, originally a decent app that's been bought out. Everything nice about it is now gone. Monthly $, less features, more ads about opening new loans and credit cards are in it's place. Digit had a nice run. Og review: Simple and automatic. Surprises me every time how quickly $$ gets saved.

Edit 2: Now I'm not getting my morning texts and it almost never saves money, but if I create a goal it'll take too much. It's supposed to be smart. Done with this app. Way to ruin a good thing! Edit: The morning balance is almost never correct. It used to always be with digit. And it's so impersonal. Ugh, if you're going to buy something that works, only change what DOESN'T work, not what does.

the app finally works better, but not as well as Digit did. Each update makes it a little better. Adding money needs to have a memo attached to it. Oftentimes I will skip a meal or cancel an impulse buy at the last second and decide to put that money into Oportun instead. When I do that I would like to be able to track it and see in my transaction history what I saved money on. Every other app I know of has a memo field for transferring money from one account to another.

Do not use this company. I paid my credit off early, as usual, my credit is good. However Oportun policy is if you don't use the credit card for 2 or 3 months they will close it even if you paid your yearly fee. They also have problems with there billing system, when you pay early, on the weekend, it messes them up and they start calling you with reminders, even though they have the payment, it doesn't show in w system as paid. Only in your account does it showed paid, in reply, I already did ca

No idea what this app is actually for. Says there's a $5 subscription fee after the free trial, but what is the app charging for? When I signed up and linked my bank, the only thing the app does is show my account balance and previous transactions, and has the option to set a "savings goal"? All it does is remind you "Hey! You wanted to save $x by xx/xx/xx!". Absolutely 0 reason to spend the $5/mo on this app when you could literally just set a weekly reminder in your calendar app for free.

This app used to be great. I set up two savings goals and it would withdraw money from my checking everyday. $1.67 here $15.91 there. Increments I wouldn't even notice most of the time. When I check up on the savings I would be amazed at how much it had accrued! Which helped to pay credit cards down or for an emergency. Now I'm lucky if it saves every third day. There have been times it hadn't saved in three weeks! They still charge their $5 regardless. It was better when it was Digit.

After Digit became Oportun, features started disappearing. I used this to automatically save and pay my monthly bills. It was super easy to use and made saving for recurring expenses effortless. They recently removed the bill pay feature and the savings feature. I'm not sure what this app even does anymore. Oportun ruined the app. Useless.

Edit- I reinstalled after a few years and its soo much better!! If you need an app to save money and then forget about it, this is the one. I loved this app for a while, for about 8 months it worked perfectly. then all of a sudden the past week or so it keeps disconnecting my account. I've had to transfer EVERYTHING that was saved in digit back and forth 3 times and its a pain. I dont know why it keeps disconnecting my account but its gotten to a point where I'm just uninstalling the app
