The One Behind The Screen

It's fun, but honestly sometimes I opt out of using it at night when I'm really tired. The animations aren't skipable for pretty much everything (other games will go faster if you keep tapping), and when I'm really tired I don't have the energy for that. I wish we didn't have to look at sleep reports every day, since sometimes I am in a hurry in the morning and don't open the app again until I try to sleep. Lastly, it's so bright!! Please create a toggle for night to assist with falling asleep.

A decent sleep tracker with far, FAR too many long-winded cutscenes and animations for literally everything under the sun. Not only do you have to review dozens of screens just to get to the sleep tracker, but each page takes its sweet time animating and reacting to your inputs before it allows you to leave. There's no way to skip any of it. This app consistently delays me going to sleep with how slow it is just to get to the sleep button.

It's pretty solid, until you wake up, the app is suddenly closed, and there's supposedly no valid sleep data. I wonder if being able to connect to fitbit, apple watch, etc. devices would solve that issue, and even function better in terms of not worrying about your phone falling off the bed, overheating your phone, or other related issues with leaving the app open overnight. 🙃

encourages me to track my sleep, which is nice. wish things could be a bit more automated at night(such as collection from helpers/mealtime) at least because I'm usually way too tired to set everything up by the time I need it. the consistent crashes(at least once per week during sleep, any time i access the menu otherwise) bother me. I wish the app could run normally while closed, as I usually watch a movie while falling asleep.

ive been playing since release and i really love the game, but its not without its flaws. i wish there was a way to turn off the leaves flying across the screen constantly, i think its one of the biggest contributors to the lag and id be willing to sacrifice atmosphere for actually being able to play the game. it crashes often and there are way too many loading screens. also, $10 a month for minimal upgrades just feels greedy. make skill seeds more accessible for free players.

Still can't believe this game still struggles. So many loading screens. Every. Single. Menu! The game is just too graphically superior to any game you've ever played. You will need the latest in graphics cards and processors to load the fully immersive, hyper-realistic, cutting edge Pokemon sprites and campgrounds. Modern tech has just not yet caught up to the developers vision here.

I like it. It's a good slow and steady game and gives me something extra to look forward to in the morning. I've been playing since launch and they've fixed a lot of things, but I'm leaving a star off since there is still more I wish would be fixed. 1.) loading screens are SO LONG and there are a lot of them. 2.) UI makes you click a lot of affirmatives: streamline it please! 3.) It needs a constant wifi connection which is ridiculous.

I have been using this app for 300+ days. I bought the Plus+. I enjoy it when it works. But the game LOVES to not work. I have friends who stopped playing BECAUSE of how slow it will run, and it isn't lag since other apps are fine. The events run beyond slow in particular. App was fine until I went to the Entei Event, then the app crashed 6 times, 4 of which were before it could even load in and half of them being after I cleared the cache. What's the point of an event if it doesn't work?

It is a great idea but it is hampered by its glitches and lag. At first I really enjoyed it and my only complaint would have been the long loading screens. But as time has gone on I recently got a glitch that made the game unplayable unless I was able to feed the snorelax. So I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but I haven't been able to get back on because when I go to download the extra stuff, it doesn't download and just gets super laggy.

This app still has a few issues. 1) load times between menus are long and frequent on top of not having a quick button to navigate back to the campsite from any screen. 2) interfaces for cooking and when Snorlax levels up are slow an often require more than one button press to clear them. 3) sleep tracking is STILL inaccurate as it will log you as waking up at the start of your final light sleep phase even if you are still asleep. Please add an option to provide feedback from within the app.

A great idea hindered by terrible app UI and optimization. Navigating between menus takes anywhere from 5-20 full seconds, save for the shop (2-3 seconds). I've actually fallen asleep waiting for menus & wake up frustrated that I couldn't track it. There's also no dark mode & you can't lock your phone without risking lost sleep data. Switching out teams one Pokemon at a time is cumbersome, especially on top of long loading screens & filtering for berries/stats. Please give it an overhaul!

The sleep button should have more importance than any other thing in the game, I don't care about the animations. This is the second time I've pressed the "sleep" button on the app, went to bed, and saw in the morning that it didn't track my sleep because my Snorlax grew in size. I do NOT care about the animations when I'm trying to track sleep. Make them all skippable.

I know a lot of work went into this, but I would really love a skip menu/graphic animation and less confirmation screens. I know it adds to the charm, but I honestly don't need every button to depress and shine, every bar to do fill animation, or every number to do quick addition animation. Every time Snorlax's rank goes up, 4 menus pop with 4 separate buttons to press in sequence. That's just a microcosm, everything in the game works like that. Maybe less would also improve performance and load

EDIT: A year later and clock issues still are unresolved. New users: do a web search on how to get around it for proper times. The game is cute but very slow moving. Which, sure.. it's a game for sleep. But slow should not mean tedious. There are too many slow and unnecessary animations and loading screens for every little thing. If your morning routine is a rush, best to turn in your sleep research once off work/school or when you have time to really sit and dedicate some time for it.

Love the art style, animations, and cooking, very charming game hindered by slow UI and load times, way too many popups, and some issues that have been unresolved since launch. Haven't seen many bugs but there are issues with lagging and freezing occasionally. Seemingly a lot of variety with what abilities you want for your pokemon, but 90% of main skills feel useless imo. Events happen at a good frequency and make the game feel more fresh. Sleep tracking seems fairly accurate? Very mixed bag.

Used to enjoy it, now I can't even play it. It's constant crashing (multiple times a minute) since the latest update, and support was no help. Most of the time I can't even get past the loading screen, and when I do, I'll just crash when collecting berries or feeding Snorlax. Very upset about this and that all the time I've put into the game is going to waste.

A great game. Adorably illustrated, well thought-out with a simple and unintrusive gameplay loop. The music is super catchy and the events are fun. This game is sure to improve your sleep schedule, even your eating schedule too! The only issue is the early game feels slow, but some recent changes have improved it for first-time users. This isn't a sprint like other Pokemon games; it's a hike, meant to be taken slowly and enjoyed over a long period.

Fun, but takes a very long time to get through basic things and doesn't reward enough. Every menu pop up, every navigation, every button press takes way longer than it should and you have to sit through it counting stuff individually- so it's time consuming and annoying. Also has many unnecessary individual popups. You don't get rewards for completing albums, you stop getting friend rewards at lvl5, you don't get a big reward for completing weekly goal. In all, fun, but an absolute slog to play

Love this app, but I am going to outline my biggest issue here cause I hope they will fix it. The game is simple and fun, not a lot of fluff. However simple tasks take a lot longer because of the poor UI. When a button pops up, there is a delay before you can press it. This leads to often tapping three times before it registers. And most actions require several button prompts. Spread this out across the app, plus things like 2 loading screens to simply check my weekly objectives. It's rough.

The concept is great, but... The fact that you can't adjust the brightness of the app, the notifications are still wonky, the volume is poorly designed (it's way too loud even on one and not controlled by phone volume). It tries to info dump a bunch of how-to right before you sleep, when all I want to do is go to bed. Edit: (6/11/24) Some of these issues have been improved or resolved. Adjusted from two to three stars.
