First best thing; they're not robinhood. Second, they allow you to buy GME and AMC, just gives you a little warning that it's volatile, but other than that they actually let you make your purchases and don't hinder you. Only problem is their system, at times it freezes, either the app or browser does. it made it very hard to switch my portfolio over because it kept freezing on both mobile and desktop, but I was still able to file the request several hours later

I like this app, clean UI, easy to navigate, easy for people who are starting out. I don't like that the charts don't actively update, nor that we don't get to see pre-market changes to the dollar value, you only see the percentage. And you are FORCED to post something about your transaction to the social feed, tho you can make it private.

It's a very easy to use trading app. Great for people new to the market. Although I have a few gripes. The app is in someways more of a social media app than a trading app. Also, I'd like to see more notification features, like price limits that tell you when you've hit a goal. It would also be nice if they had a notification for when financials are listed for you holdings. All together it's good!

Each update gets worse, they really should focus on basic trading functions, customer service (even premium membership), before doing content or other events. You would think customer service for premium membership would be better, but I've been largely ignored and provided with insufficient solutions that was quickly thrown at me. Only after multiple attempts, I was able to solve the glitch that happened in my account. But I do see signs of improvement and AI feature is useful.

Great app. I've used others similar and keep coming back to Public. A few things would make the experience even better. I'd like to have a more detailed timeline on stock activity throughout the day. Also it would be great if there was a way to sort your portfolio or watchlist into smaller groups. Honestly, overall the interface with Public is seamless and easy to use.You guys are doing great, keep it up!

I'm new to this app and may update my review as I learn more. So far, I like the interface, but am hoping for more features. I find it difficult to buy stocks in full shares rather than fractional shares by dollar amount. Somehow, I accidentally DID successfully buy a whole share once, but couldn't replicate that success and just had to input dollar amounts for other orders. I also wish that there was a way to setup recurring investments/deposits for a set it and forget it approach.

I like this app, and they seem more straight forward than the previous one I used. It needs some work though. The numbers frequently don't add up and are slow to update. The social media aspect is lame at best and to forced. The graphs look bad because they are not normalized. And customer service is slow to respond. I would like to see some improvements and will stick with it until after the current influx.

*Jan '23 - better for a bit, then same nonsense again. It's not the reps, it's their system 😒 *Aug '22 - I love some things, but they can't handle volume. Charts go blank, glitch, holdings incorrect. Not just volatile stocks, I mean the whole platform/portfolio, randomly. The fix/updates just lead to more issues. Too often I'm stuck due to lags. The layout of themes, live sessions & social connecting is useful & fun. The rest of the experience - not so much. I'll update if it gets better 👍🏻

I've reviewed several trade apps and this one is the most simple to set up and organized to go straight to what your looking for with information on trends and recent publications of the product in the news. It list pros and cons; as well as, if you should buy it, not buy it or if it is a super good deal and you'd be crazy to pass it by. The act of purchasing the stock is super easy and takes seconds.

Had an issue with a bug that they finally fixed with this latest update, but now they've gotten rid of the chart that shows gain/loss since purchased, which was nice and visually helpful (don't show me a percent). They also removed the meter on suggested buying/selling. Not as big a deal, but it was still helpful. Public, stop making unnecessary changes. The app was fine several updates ago. Pretty sure they also removed my last review, which is rad. 😑

The app is exactly what they advertise...a beginner investment app... easy to use but very light on the features. Charts and graphs are rudimentary at best. It's very glitchy and does not accurately report time invested or accurate all time stats on any stock that goes through a split or restructuring. I'm slowly moving to more feature rich applications but this app did serve its purpose.

I like this app but there is a horrible problem when connecting your bank which for many users might make the app unusable! When you try to connect a bank, it opens a new "window" where the process happens. If you leave the app in any way, it closes and makes you restart the process. Importantly, when you open your call or sms app to see the authentication code! You have to use your drop down menu to see the code without closing it. This is a massive oversight which MUST BE FIXED!

Love the fact that they don't use darkpools. But the app is not fun to use at best and has bugs at worst. Example: the graph default for your current value is 1 day and it takes so long to load other scales that it's difficult to wait. You almost want to leave your phone on the table and walk away while it loads "1 month" scale. Sometimes clicking other scales on the graph freeze the app entirely. Placing trades coerces you into posting it and it is difficult and weird to back away from that.

I really liked the app at first. However support for the app is not even close to ideal. A phone number would be great to contact. However I made two transfers from my bank to the app but they said it timed out. However the transfer still got charged from my account. So even now I still have no resolve after contacting customer service. I just want my money back that was unfairly charged. Update. They did end up fixing the situation thankfully. However a phone line would be great

Update after some time of use. App is very glitchy. When you get notifications and you tap on the notification it will just take you to the home screen if it even does that. My graph of P&L hasn't worked in over a month even with me reporting it. They say they are working on it. When talking to support and I want to send screenshots to them it will only work intermittently, even though permission settings are good. Not sure if I made a good choice by using them. They aren't inspiring confidence

So far so good... we'll see how things go over time. Update: Functionality is quick and smooth. Pages are easy to navigate. Trades are easy. Information provided on pages is useful. I like that when visiting different pages, and you return to a previously viewed page, it places you at the same location on that page as when you were last there. Developers - could you edit the app such that pressing the home button when already on the homepage results in a return to the top of page?

It looks like it has a clean UI and decent functionality. However, I wasn't able to experience it because I spent over a week and a half waiting for my account to verify. Eventually noticed there were some errors on the notifications page that wouldn't go away, so I assumed there was something wrong with the app and reinstalled it so see if that made a difference. Now, whenever I try and install it, Public repeatedly crashes even when the app is closed, giving incessant error messages!

Update 9/7/23 - I dropped from 4 stars; I feel like every update (literally) has detracted from what was originally a great app. Not only does it have far more bugs/tech glitches than before (my almost heart stopped when it showed a zero balance! It eventually loaded my portfolio, but that happens now) but the layout is confusing, there's less info available and what there is is often incorrect (the analyst data is wildly inaccurate). It's a bummer.

A user for several years now. It's a great app for casual traders, especially if you're in the military and either out on deployment or workups. Easy to use and for understanding the basics. I appreciate the short tutorial vids on explaining aspects of stock trading or of new features but could do more in-depth tutorials with beginner traders in mind. The Public team clearly does its best to take in user input and improve the app. Looking forward to new features (automated investing, maybe?)

It was a great app as a beginner. As you learn the market more, you realize the app lacks functionality. UI experience has gone downhill and they constantly remove a useful feature after each update. The market has been open for over 30mins now & I've been unable to check my portfolio updates because "There's a problem viewing your chart right now". Over the past week, I've also noticed where there were periods of time where my portfolio has gone completely linear which is impossible. Leaving.
