More About Sandship: Crafting Factory

From the developers of Deep Town, Sandship is a factory management game set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe. You control the last remaining sandship: a gigantic, artificially intelligent mega-factory, which roams across the endless deserts of a far-away planet. Noranti One was a highly advanced civilization. After an accident forced your sandship into hibernation, it awoke in a world of ruins. Join us on a journey to rediscover forgotten technologies, forge a better tomorrow through crafting and trade, and fight a vicious cult hellbent on your destruction. Unlock the secrets of this cryptic land onboard your incredible sandship.
Design futuristic factories from the ground up in this free to play adventure. Place devices like synthesizers, chemical mixers, and ice guns in your sandship factory. The more devices you have, the greater your automated productivity. Connect those devices with conveyor belts to craft a wide variety of materials, from copper wires and combustion engines to ancient technology utilizing the mythic power of the overwell. Upgrade your sandship and add bigger factories to get the space you’ll need to produce more complex items. Trade the incredible stuff you make to earn credits, XP and get old crates filled with scientific research from the distant past. This ancient knowledge gives your sandship new abilities, becoming stronger, smarter, and more powerful than she’s been in a long, long time.

Your engineering mentor is Harvey, a tenacious one-eyed cyborg who needs your help to reconnect with his past. Harvey will show you the ropes of sandship engineering as you build and maintain more complex factories on a desert journey. Are you ready to voyage through a mysterious alien desert with many obstacles in your path? The planet is inhabited by an unusual assortment of robots and aliens. Some are friendly and astounded by your sandship. Others are hostile and want to see your sandship destroyed, but you’re not sure why. Complete quests to meet new characters, uncover ancient civilizations, hear campfire stories and learn how this once industrious world crumbled in the distant past.

There’s so much to discover on-board a sandship. Solve factory floor puzzles, then create your own to share with other players. Get creative in the sandbox to try out new setups without using any resources. Build an enigmatic underwell to mine precious resources, but be prepared to defend against hordes of extraterrestrial enemies to collect them. New features and places to explore are added continuously. The universe of Sandship is constantly expanding.

Very slow, and gets so laggy it's unplayable. This starts once you have several pieces of equipment running at level 3. Completely stalls when you get even more at level 4. For reference, it's about an hour into playing. Lots of other bugs where quest items never appear. I had high hopes, but never got even close to the normal amount of play time I give a game before reviewing it.

Originally, I gave it 5 stars but I'm giving it 3 stars and here's why: this game freezes and crashes. A LOT. I bought a micro factory to build up and every time I place a conveyor, as soon as I rotate it I get a message saying something along the lines of "rotation not enabled", then here comes the crash. After about 20 crashes, I gave up. Consider these 3 stars a concession. This game is practically un-playable as a result. UNINSTALLED. I'll be back once this game becomes more stable.

Highly inconsistent. Claiming resources sometimes just resets them without you getting them. It doesnt know how to count some resources (allowed 2000 barrels in intermediate, but game fails at 30...). If you have a complex setup the game also fails at understanding what to do... Even if it works, if you delete and replace a belt it might fail. Very frustrating!

3 stars so far. Lots of bugs and rotating errors. Game has something there but the initial wait times take too long for the beginning. I forgot this game existed on my phone for a week waiting for a task to complete. I like the space limits. But more tutorials when a new part is unlocked is needed. The research says I unlocked a new machine but it doesn't appear in my machine list. Same with parts, if I unlock a part nothing tells me how to produce that part. Selling parts outside of recycling.

Review editted: Tons of bugs. Crashes and freezes all the time, fixed by closing and reopening the app but still annoying. Came upon some kind of obelisk circle in the story, the sandship parked on top of it and the camera zoomed in on the sand to the side until I tapped through the conversation (which occured offscreen, I do not know what the characters said). There needs to be an easier way to scroll through the devices, trying to scroll drags one half the time. Bugs aside, decent idle game.

Great deal for the price, and a fun factory game. The community made puzzles are fun too, and can teach advanced mechanics. There are some glitches, the main ones being related to making something too quickly and not saving the resources after claiming. Not sure if it's my phone or not, but slowing down production seems to be the only workaround. I have enjoyed my time with the game nevertheless, and don't regret downloading it.

There is a progress stopping bug where the game freezes when I go to open a reward. The reward won't open, and i cannot progress beyond the the first research task. I'll happily give this game another shot if this is ever corrected. Edit: The bug has been fixed, and the game is playable. Still short one star, as the interface could be a little more intuitive. Otherwise, fun game.

Like factorio. Super fun. Great look. Nice menus. Some controls, like building mode, are not necessarily intuitive. Feels like it's pre-aloha. Lots of bugs that cause crashes. Text boxes appearing as Null, etc. Looking forward to the continued development. Great job guys. Edit 6/13/20 Thanks for the response. I assume the server response was corrected as the game is playing much better.

Nearly awesome. Controls feel a little clunky. (Much of my play time has been within the factory complex itself, bit getting back to it from the other screens is more of a struggle than it needs to be. Also the building controls could be improved). The main problem that I'm having with the game, however, is that some configurations of my factory seem to break my ability to get any resources at all. This is pretty frustrating when you don't notice and then come back to the game hours later.

A very good game in my opinion. Generally smooth gameplay, a nice little story set in a Future/Western type setting. My only issue is in opening the crates from commission rewards. Often (actually most) times the crate just sits there and will not open for a long time, no matter how much I tap on any part of the screen. Sometimes it eventually goes through, sometimes it crashes the app. When this gets fixed I'll gladly up my rating!

The game is really fun and feels like it could be a full-on console or pc game. It has very charming visuals, and the gameplay and controls are very intuitive. There are a couple crashes, and the servers seem to go down a lot, but when it's playable it is very entertaining. The graphics can be pretty simple at times, for example (minor spoilers) At the end of Chapter 1 the sandship breaks free from the ropes holding it, but the rope breaking is just them extending, then dissapearing.

The game is AMAZING. It has a Simple, yet great concept! It has great music, amazing graphics, and a complex gameplay were you have to think to make you factory work! My problem with the game is that ,for me, when I spend a long time in the game, it starts to bug out and then crashes. Second thing is that I had to uninstall the game because the game tells me that "Rotation modifier not enabled" And then logs me out of the game. And the Long period of time to finish one delivery is to long too.

Disappointing. This game has immense potential, the music is pleasing, the story is interesting, the graphics are beautiful, and the puzzles/mechanics are thought provoking. It's just.... janky. There are constant bugs, the game freezes, the systems are inconsistent, and despite wanting to continue I have to conclude that the game is almost unplayable without significant fixes.

This is a solid experience with an interesting story in the first half. No cash grabs if you're patient, not interested in cosmetics, & are willing to watch optional ads either. There're LOTS of bugs & visual glitches that get worse the longer you play & the game is far from optimised despite it's age. You can't refund anything, there're max limits on some items (ie steel walls) that make no sense to get limited, making ammo is useless, & it's a struggle to place anything inside long buildings.

It's a wonderful game thus far. It's addictive and fun to watch things move around. There are obviously going to be bugs. A lot of the mechanics of the game don't like when you try to do certain layouts in quick succession. Also some parts have collision errors when you place them over belts, whereas they should just remove the colliding pieces of belt to make room. Despite the bugs and early stage of development it's an amazing time killer and super fun to play with. Hope to see much more.

The trading system RUINS an otherwise fun game. If the research system used the material you made instead of money you have to agonizingly slowly trade for, the game would actually be decent. Maybe not long, but it would be fun regardless. Instead you have to wait a whole work shift for what amounts to one tenth of an upgrade. There's no incentive to optimize your factory because no matter what, your limiting factor is going to be money. Don't bother installing this one.

Like Factorio on wheels. Great concept and fun game. I originally reviewed the game in 2020. They have fixed a lot of bugs since then. The underwell pit still has a few bugs; the following errors occur only in the underwell pit seemingly randomly: "Can't connect to server" and "Device is not there [coordinates]". The underwell pit will lag when too many drifters appear (on mobile). It looks like the game is not getting more updates. I'm currently maxed at level 20.

It was a wonderful game I downloaded long ago and just now have had the time to return and play it properly. Man, the intro is really well done. The tutorial is splendidly made. The way it doesn't lock you down while the intro credits roll. Just. Wow. I joined the reddit to see that the game stops at level 20. I was already almost level 8. I'm gonna have to stop playing now because if I get stopped at 20 with no further progression offered, I'd be feeling loss.

It was a really fun game in the beginning but the game slowly degraded and now its not playable. Originally it was working well and then some of my factories slowed production. I thought it was a user error and started testing. I realized the numbers on the right side aren't actually accurate to what is actually produced. After a while all my factories dropped to 20% production even after I turned off or removed most of the buildings. Now the UI has inverted colors and the menus don't work.

Scratches the automation itch, but it gets buggy when you hit high production rates. It seems like the server disagrees with the numbers shown in the app and will frequently give you nothing or a reduced amount to what you see in the in transit window. It's not a big deal since I haven't put any money into it, but it's still frustrating to see thousands of items just disappear. It’s worth playing, but I wouldn’t recommend spending any money on it.
