Vanguard used to have a great app. Easy to manage your portfolio, good views of performance over time, you could actually trade on it. Then, for some inexplicable reason, they decided to update the app so that you can no longer trade with the app and it only gives you very bare bones information about your portfolio. They replaced one of the best apps in finance with one of the worst. It really boggles my mind at how it's possible to do such a bad job at this.

The new app is terrible. Why would you do this? It's useless for anything except for viewing performance charts. Even this is done very poorly because you have to press and hold dates to view data points. As soon as you remove your finger, the values disappear. The table view of monthly account performance is also gone, which is far more valuable to me than charts. Also, it incorrectly uses Android's old fingerprint API instead of the biometric API, so phones with face unlock can't use it.

The old app was perfect. The new app is much more difficult to navigate and use. Why would you ever abandon a grid style layout? Folks are used to interacting with grids (like spreadsheets) when it comes to finances. Also, I can no longer log into my mom's account as the app only allows me to log in with one set of credentials. Really disappointed. If they can't at least make it so I can sign in under more than just one set of credentials, I'll have move both my and my mom's money.

Pretty disappointed. I get errors most times I try entering limit orders from the app, and must resort to using the desktop version where an identical oder does succeed. So inconvenient. I keep getting a pop-up that a new version is available but most reviews say the new one is even worse so will hold off upgrading as long as possible. Wish portfolio views had more useful info, or could more easily view stock performance. Time to ever the 21st century Vanguard!

This is the New Coke of app revisions. Horrible and unnecessary changes - Vanguard has caved to the gamification of investing apps leaving us with fewer functions, less information, and a non-intuitive interface. Now, I might as well use a browser to do anything useful in my accounts. The old app worked well, was easy to navigate, and had all the necessary info in a grown-up interface.

This update was a very bad idea! I've used this app for 4.5 years without issue and now I can't do ANYTHING! I can't transact, I can't look at my history, I can't do anything but look at a balance. What's the point of an app that does NOTHING? I literally have to go to the website to do everything, per the apps directions. Going to a browser makes my accounts less secure, it doesn't have the automatic log-out feature, etc. PLEASE FIX THIS!

Wow, very buggy. IF you can login, the app is okay. Logging in is so difficult though. I use Lastpass to manage my logins, so I can mimic the missing fingerprint functionality. But it is even difficult to login with LastPass, and even when I do, sometimes the app will hang indefinitely, or force quit. It does not give me confidence that they have an expert in Android security systems, so I uninstalled the app and will keep logging in through the browser, which is easier and a better experience.

The update is complete trash compared to the old (outdated) version. Every shred of useful information I looked at on the old version is now gone (settlement dates, limited research, portfolio composition comparisons, and my MESSAGES). But the thing I can't stand about the latest version is the constant screen scrolling. The font is so enormous that I can only view 1 transaction at a time, and need to take a motion sickness medication to scroll back and forth between my account info.

Works best when used with PC version. PC app to do transactions. Viewing information, balances, etc. mobile app. Doing trades in the mobile app, can be done, but I personally like the PC app better. PC app makes me do the transaction a bit slower and more deliberately. On PC app, I don't make mistakes. On mobile, I have made enough costly mistakes to not do transactions without very slow, deliberately checking. Seems like a " review " feature is not as robust on mobile app. Else very good!

The app is broken on a multitude of levels. I cannot trade now - web service error or blank screen. I cannot message Vanguard in the app - prompts are misplaced and covered up, it appears to reveal meaningless things in the UI that should be hidden, and there is no submission button. There are many other problems. I recommend taking your business to another brokerage altogether. Any perceived value of dealing with Vanguard will be eliminated by their inadequate tech and their lack of resolve.

This app is terrible compared to apps from other brokerages, like Fidelity. Every day I get a pop up in the app asking me to leave feedback, which I've done numerous times, and am sick of doing it. The pop-up covers content and prevents me from doing what I need to do until I leave the feedback. The X in the corner is broken and does not get rid of the popup. This has become so annoying that if it is not fixed I will be rolling everything over to Fidelity as their app is far more user friendly!

There is no way to personalize the app viewing experience. I'd like to be able to choose which holdings I want to see when I open the application instead of having to dig through my long-term holdings to review my short and mid-term holdings. Also, why aren't there options to receive push notifications on balances? Not to mention that I'd like to be able to receive notifications when the NAV of an investment falls below a certain value. Basic stuff that an investment app should have built in.

This app used to break every time it updated. It doesn't do that any more. Now it breaks every few days, whether it's upgraded or not. The easiest thing to do is to uninstall it and reinstall it once a day. A reinstall fixes it (until it breaks again) but you have to go through all the intro stuff again. You can set up biometrics, but it will all be gone the next time you reinstall.

Edit: They are now not showing the total % rate of return on each individual investment. Just the total amount. Most important parameter to track performance now missing. Infuriating....Old review: They have improved their app website. It is now way better than Fidelity's app website. You can clearly see your total rate of return and cost basis etc. in a clear manor. Finally!

Feedback request popup blocks essential info and pops up whenever you go to transaction history. Do not count on being able to review or cancel open orders during trading hours, because system frequently throws an "...unexpected issue. Try again later" error. You can't do after hours trading on the app either. Have to go to website for that. Overall, lower quality and slower app than other brokerages provide

Still horrible and almost useless. Most functionality forces you to log into webpage. Horrible move. It used to worked reliabily and had just enough useful information for a quick glance. Wish I could go back to previous version. App changes sometimes bring benefits and drawbacks, but I've never seen an app go from 10+ years of working to completely useless like this, it's not a learning curve change, it just flat out adds zero value now. Seems like you would have to purposely make it this bad.

Update: The app has improved a lot. Still a long way to go but thank you for improving. --- I was really hoping by now the app would be closer to the desktop version but unfortunately it is not. The interface is poor and functionality very limited. Touching some numbers take you to another screen but there is no indication you can do that so you only know if you know! Please bring back the old app before it was "modernized"! It was limited in functionality but it was much better than this!

May 18, 2024-- from bad to worse. Now I log in and the app goes right to the "Thanks for Visiting page"......... Nov 23 2023-- The New app may have been an attempt to look more modern, but Vanguard ruined the UI in the process. The end result is the UX is abhorrent. The pages dont all fit on my device, i cant locate anything because the pages are now split. Performance is now on multiple pages. Not a great move folks. Unfortunately I cant move my money.

Next to useless, seems to get worse with each update. Possibly worst and most basic (little functionality) financial app out there. Just a couple of issues: Biometrics - it prompts to login to enable it but good luck finding how! Message Center: no way to send messages...no wonder, they probably disabled it so that the app users won't able to send questions about the many issues.

Works, but always crashes on 1st log in attempt and works on 2nd log in. Also, it's annoying that after completing a stock/ETF/MF buy, it doesn't return you too your list of holdings where you left off, but sends you too the top and you have to drill back down into your list. Finally, fix the stupid feedback pop-ups - they show up right at the top of the page so the "x" can't be selected since it's on the status bar.
