Not the same. I used to play on the PC in the 90s. Loved this game how it's real life time even when you're not on it, its still going. But after upgrading your techs to level 2, you're kind of done. The gems or tech points required goes up 10x to be able to upgrade n ads started popping up on it's own after you craft something or logging in. At first ad only came on when u select to watch ads for free tech or gems. I'm very disappointed. Played for about 2 weeks. Had to uninstalled.

The game would be fine enough, but it's absurdly ad hungry. There was some sort of new update where I literally can't go a full 30 seconds without an ad popping up when I open the game. Try to craft a resource? Auto play ad. Try to view my villagers? Auto play ad. Before ads were voluntary when you wanted to get premium currency. Still annoying, but standard and fair. This new update is absurd and I don't even care about finishing the game now. It's not worth it.

I love the VV games. The ads make it nearly unplayable, though. I would pay to not have to watch long ads every few minutes. However, I refuse to pay for anything in this game knowing that I'll still be subjected to constant 30-second interruptions. Also, the cost and rarity of the lavastones (in-game currency) is laughable. Why would anyone spend that much money on a game that isn't even multi-player and has an endpoint?

Good game, fun and a lot of great things about it that I genuinely enjoy. I just can't handle the fact that every time I craft something for even one minute I have to watch a 30 second unskippable add. kills the whole thing for me to the point that I don't know if ill keep the app. adds for bonuses? love it. plays in really well. adds for the basic goals of the game? just greedy

Edit: Much better! They dont overplay ads anymore and I haven't lost points in a while. Original: Has the potential to be a great game, IF the tech points would stop disappearing multiple times a day for no reason and the random ads, that dont get you anything, would stop making you loose the chance to get to cracks and mushrooms or other time sensitive opportunities. Gets very annoying when I work hard at getting 30,000+ tech points and then for no reason they're gone.

It's a step down from the originals. There is less information available about villagers and less to do overall. Same beautiful art style, but the map layout is pretty boring. VV4 had a great layout where you could place down your own buildings and interact/change the environment. VVO2 has prebuilt locations that you just drop a villager onto once you get enough points. Time moves too quickly & only one villager can quickly build something. Too easy. Too bad the originals are too buggy to play.

You can earn lava stones and tech by watching ads as well as speed up crafting, which I think is fair, but then theres forced ads when you first long in as well as when you collect crafted items; which is a bit much. At first there was an option to spin with a chance to land on perfect villager making things somewhat easier, now it's gone and the best you can get is a few adept skills. At the rate the villagers age the time it takes to master skills and craft items is imbalanced.

Constantly failing to connect to the network. I wish I could play without having to worry about that, and it'd just auto save when it could. I'd rather have the content load on my phone and be able to play offline than only be able to play while connected. It does this every couple of days. Can't even load to play. Some days, it will load to play and lose network connection during an ad and all my progress is lost.

I love the game, but it is irksome. The game crashes after most ads. Since there is almost always an ad when you open the app, the game crashes at the very start. If you watched an ad to speed up time or reduce time you literally watch the entire thing for nothing. I adore this game, it's very sentimental to me, but atp it ain't even worth it.

I loved the originals. However, every aspect of how this game is monetized is maddening. Crafting is a big part of the game, and it takes the game fully 1 minute to tell you your crafting combination didn't work, and then when it does, pop up ad. You have to do this at least 30 times to discover one thing. I wish I liked it, I think the survival scenario feature is a cool idea and I've loved this series, but experimenting blindly and being bombarded by ads every literal minute is too much.

Again something I crafted has disappeared. I crafted garden soil. A villager collected it. And it never was taken to the pots. This was after two failed attempts to make the last hardened pot. I started it, left came back a few hours later and the crafting shed was empty. I started it again. Checked it twice while doing other stuff in game it showed it was making it. I closed the game came back a few hours later.. and it has done it to me again. So I created garden soil. Now its gone. I'm done

This used to be a great game, I placed it so much before that I already completed all of the puzzles and even paid for the lemur, the herron and even paid for the second spot in survival mode but now the ads are just destroying this game. I understand that not a lot of people were buying for things in the game but come on man, this is ridiculous and until the ads either stop crashing the game or until they are just gone period I don't think I will be playing this game again.... do better guys

I'm uninstalling this game. For the last hour I have had to restart the game several times. The game would just close after a few seconds. It is frustratingly annoying. I can't do anything worthwhile within the game becäse it will just suddenly stop and close. I paid $4.99 + tax for a beginners' package or whatever and I can't even use it now because the damn game keeps closing down. Screw it. I want a refund. Uninstalling now.

There seems to be a crafting glitch that completely stops progress. The game is taking my resources and not giving the crafted result after several attempts. I don't mind the repetitive ads but when the game doesn't even work because of it and no one is doing anything to fix it I think thats a bit much and the game should be unavailable if it doesn't work!

For a game this old to have this many ads is untenable, especially because they've clearly only got a few ad deals and I see the same ones over and over. Also the logic of the crafting items doesnt really make much sense and the time to craft disincentivizes experimentation (I ended up just using guides). But this game has a lot of nostalgia for me and the island does feel alive.

The game keeps crashing. It was working fine yesterday, and now it says it can not connect to the server over and over. I checked all the things on my end, and all speed/connection tests pass. So besides the crashing/not being able to connect to it's servers it's an okay game. It's a little long for some of the crafting items, but it is what it is. That is why I was logging back in to check on the 2 day crafting of blue colored glass. Guess not, though, hahaha

Update March 2024 I literally just signed in and all my data is lost! update: recently I have been losing crafts. Please fix. Takes awhile to figure out and getting tech points takes forever but very good game. The only thing is not that I'm so close to the end and as my villager was taking the yellow Glass to the statue he froze and lost it. I'm so upset. Now made something in the craft house. Said it was finished when I went to click on it.. The item wasn't there.

Buggy, ad crashes game.. I've tried *multiple* times to uninstall, then reinstall to no avail. First, I was given 5 villagers instead of being able to choose. Then, the tutorial wouldn't advance past the research table. Finally, every ad that started (once it started working better) would crash the game. I love the game, but not these tech issues.

Game is fun but paywall locked unless you want to wait 50 years for anything to happen, unlike the Virtual Villagers games on the PC in the past. And unfortunately, the game crashes so much when I finally committed to spending $1.99 for some lavastones to speed things up on an ingame potion, the game crashed during the animation and consumed the stones I bought so I had to get the potion twice. No way to report the crashes ingame, either.

I first played this game 4 years ago. It was great back then. No issues. I decided ro replay. It is terrible now! Crashes frequently; usually while doing a task, or loading an ad; which makes your progress and resources disappear. Today it made my phone restart. I loaded the game again, and it lagged so bad, it was impossible to play. I'm uninstalling. Also, the pop-up ad for one of their other games randomly interupts gameplay.
