I purchased the app over a year ago. The app was simple and well worth the price. Without warning the app was "updated" and by updated I mean replaced with an entirely different app that I am now expected to pay significantly more for. Not a fan of the lack of transparency or warning. It was nice while it lasted but I will be looking for another way to journal digitally.

There are consistent glitches with the new version. Disappointed that it's not a yearly paid thing that I'm constantly needing to uninstall and reinstall to work. Update: The app now doesn't work AT ALL. I lost 3 years of journaling date. The staff keeps telling me to update the app, but it never works. I've uninstalled and reinstalled countless times with no change. It's one of the most disappointing experiences in my personal journey for wellbeing.

I had the book but bought the app because it's easier to travel with. I would highly recommend this journal. the only things I wish it had was the same Intro section from the print version( because it sets the tone for the journal really well and explains the intent behind the journal well) and I wish the scrolling between the app sections was more intuitive; meaning I would like to see all of the morning section in one go, without having to scroll.

This is worth the subscription. I can't believe how much, using this app, has changed my well being. I feel so much happier about the day when I'm able to jot down a quick achievable goal and later reflecting back on the day. I only wish I could have the notification time be different on the weekends. I go to work very early and have it start set up to remind to journal when I get to work. But on the weekends, it's waking me up!

Several month of my pictures disappeared; I emailed the developers several times and received no response. I tried to download my journal entries and it takes so long that i haven't been able to. Even just trying to download one month of entries is taking over ten minutes. I'm very dissatisfied. It was a great concept, but if you're going to lose your entries, then it seems like a waste of time. I'll update if things improve.

It was a great app, then they updated it and managed to make it worse 🤷‍♂️ Not upset by the annual subscription, but what sucks is: 1. More complex interface. The interface uses to be so simple. It was exactly what you needed and without clutter. 2. Worse interface. Why can't I easily see the mornings input and I write my evening input?

Excellent digital implementation of the classic paper 5 Minute Journal system. Easy to use, with thoughtful features that just work (like a tab button to advance to the next prompt, even if you are editing the middle of a sentence). The app increases my consistency because I typically begin and end my day on my phone. I miss the physical act of writing, but consistency is more important to get the benefits of gratitude, planning, affirmation, and reflection.

Been using this for two years and loved it. It was one of many tools that helped me turn my mindset around. The new update has ruined it though. Almost none of my evening entries save, a few morning ones are missing. Also the new design is not nearly as calming. Hopefully they can fix the bugs so at least the functionality returns...

I just logged in for the first time after the automatic update for May 2021 and like other users am extremely disappointed at with the changes. I previously paid for the app, to be able to use it fully, to journal, add pictures, add notes about my day. With the update, I am limited to basic entries and all the features I previously paid for I now have to pay $25 a year for. I want my $5 back that I already invested in this app. Features were barely worth the $5. They are definitely not worth the $25 a year or $75 for 'lifetime access' ...that is until they decide to upgrade again in a couple of years and then you will owe more money to keep using.

Loving this app! I'm a person that needs to do some form of journaling/reflection regularly, and this is the most convenient way to do that and the best way to ensure that it gets done. I like that there isn't a limit on how much you can type in each line, so I can go more in depth with certain things, or some days I keep it really short & sweet. I also LOVE the option to post a daily picture. I wouldn't be opposed to a daily writing prompt in the future or something like that... 🤷‍♀️😉

The previous version was visually simpler & easier to maintain. It was updated to a new version that is less efficiently laid out. More importantly, the previous app was not free, we paid for it, the new version takes away all but it's most basic feature and puts them behind a yearly subscription pay wall. The concept is good: practice daily gratitude, set an intention for the day, review the day, what went well and what could be improved. However, we don't need a $24 subscription to do this.

I paid what originally was a one time fee for this app. Suddenly I could not use the app unless I "updated". After doing this I lost premium features I once had unless I buy another subscription. Didn't realize this was allowed. In any case, seems like bad karma to me. Also the new version has quite a few bugs making it difficult to complete the basic journal. Samsung s10

The app was great before! Very simple and easy to use. Since they changed it it has been so glitchy. Each day it's a different issue. Sometimes one of the sections are missing. Sometimes the photo won't upload or it uploads incorrectly. Today the text disappears after the first bullet point. If I could revert back to old app I would. This new one clearly wasn't ready to be rolled out.

Positive bookends for my day. I love that I can post pictures from my days and that it reminds me to post. Even when I'm grumpy and sleepy, it puts a positive spin on the beginning and end to every day. My one con to this app is that it's hard to see (I am photosensitive and have limited vision, which is why I can't use the hardcopy journal). Please consider offering a Dark Mode for vision accessibility! UPDATE - Thank you for including a high contrast feature in the new version!

The 'look' of the new interface is nice, but it doesn't quite work correctly, at least on Androids. It prompts you to start journaling right away, but you don't get the 1,2,3 prompts, unless you close it, then re-open it. Then if you want to go back to a journal entry and edit, it erases what you had there...for example, I added my own field at the end for bible study...I only journal in the morning, but when I go in and fill in the end of day part for the previous day...my bible entry's gone.

If you make a serious effort to create meaningful entries, you will come away feeling better, and the feeling compounds over time. It almost sneaks up on you. Seeing all your past entries at a glance is like... "Dang, things ARE pretty great." It's also the only journaling I've been able to stick to, because of the low time requirement. If you're reading this wondering if you should try it out, you're already the type of person that should try it out. :)

This latest update sucks. I paid for the LIFETIME subscription before but now lose what I had and need to pay actually in a worse app? That's not cool! I want the old version back! If not I want them to uphold their end of the terms and agreement. I intend to fight this and I think everyone else should too. I hope this was the worst mistake they made and they are forced to go back. It was perfect as it was.

I bought this for the simplicity and used it for years as I had the book and wanted a digital version. The newest update (done completely without warning) is not good. Way too "fancy" and unnecessary. Simplicity is king! As existing app purchasers we should have been given the option to keep the old simple version. I'm looking for another gratitude app.

They should have just made a new, separate app called "5-minute Journal 2" or something. I paid money for the original app because it was exactly what I wanted. They've completely reworked the interface & addred a paid subscription. I can still do the basic things I did before but I do not like the new visuals, they look more cluttered and the pop of yellow is annoying when the original app had a nice neutral palette. I feel like my purchase was not respected & the thing I bought has been taken.

5/22/21 I am extremely disappointed with the new update. I already paid once for the app and was able to add one photo a day. Now I have to pay EXTRA (for "premium") to be able to add a photo each day? I can understand charging for the new extra features, but they should have left ALL of the original features intact for those who paid for it! Original review 6/12/20: Love it. Helps me focus on the positive in short, easy bursts. I love being able to choose a picture a day.
