More About AC Forums App for Android™
This app will ask your permission for some things when you install it. Here's what those permissions mean, in plain English:
Full Internet access: You'll need to have access to the Internet to view and reply in the forums. Makes sense.
Read phone state and identity: Google says this allows the app to know when a phone call is coming in. That way, the app can pause itself and let you answer the call. We're not using your identity for anything; these two permissions are bundled together.
Modify/delete USB and SD card contents: When you see a picture posted in the AC Forums via the app, it needs to store it on your internal storage or SD card. Again, makes sense.
Prevent device from sleeping: When a notification is received (you can set those up in the app settings), the app will need to wake the device up so it can deliver it. (Yeah, it sounds a little backward.)
Control vibrator: Needed for notifications, so you can have your phone or tablet vibrate. Sounds a little dirty, though.
View network state/Wifi state: Because the app requires you to have a network connection, it needs to be able to *know* that you have a network connection. If you don't, it will tell you.
Automatically start at boot: The app will notify you about private messages and replies to subscribed topics. Without this permission, you would need to restart the app yourself each time you restart your phone to continue to get notifications.

Still doesn't work on Pixel 7 Pro. I only get a spinning icon when I try to view a forum.

Crashes as soon as I open it on my Galaxy S23 Ultra. Also unable to access the forums via Tapatalk just for AC.

Unable to upload photos using the app. Users are unable to give the app permission to access local storage.

When I press unanswered questions it just goes to the androidcentral loading screen and stays there. please fix this.

It lacks any mod functions, but otherwise it's very handy when you're not near a computer.

Needs a huge update. App keeps force closing on all my devices. Have even deleted app and reinstalled.

tried this once after deleting the other version. sign in won't take my password, click forgot password, says user doesn't exist. register as new member, says user already exists. Stuck in a loop. Giving up and deleting this one too.

I was with CB since 2010 and migrated over in 2017 when I got my first Android phone (Smart Platinum 7). Your site has served me well but there is still not the camorardery that was experienced with Crackberry. Hopefully, time will tell. Alan.

Why not merge the forum features to your other Android Central app and decommission this one? The only feature I like about this app is the ability to post pictures. Other than that I used the other app

Finally taking this app to 1 star. Barely works maybe 1 out of every ten times I try to use it. Maybe it's time to say goodbye to Android Central since they don't seem to care about those if us who use their app.

Running this app on a Note 10. It opens multiple copies when I click on an email thread link. When it isn't doing that, it refuses to open.

They say they are one of the oldest forums on Google. If they are they certainly haven't learned much about how to approach their audience in my opinion. Educational in a unique way though. It teaches you how to get around ads so that you don't lose your concentration on the article you're reading, as they have so many ads you can easily lose your place.

I've been an AC member for years and have posted many pics, but this app states that I do not have permission to do so. Also, I shows unread that available, when there are none and does not show unread threads when they are available.

This used to be a great app, For many years it was my primary source for Android information. However, in the past few weeks it has stopped working. Nothing displays under any of of the section headings, such as Home, Forums, Videos, Podcasts, Wallpapers, etc. I don't understand how iMore, Windows Central, and Crackberry are still functioning properly, but Android Central doesn't work? I have deletng the app and the app cache, and reinstalled several times to no avail.
