This is one of the nicest airline apps I have used, clean formatting, useful info, easy to enter flight details and it keeps them for the next time you open app. I don't understand the negative reviews, they must be having a bad day or trying to do something super complex. The app is for check in, check status, etc., otherwise I contact the airline or use the web.

A working history of terrible apps and updates. This one takes the cake. What an amateur attempt with an app. So slow to load and extremely difficult to check into my flight. Extremely difficult to navigate and find anything. New apps are supposed to make it easier/better - not worse.

Air Canada's app is just as bad as its service. They stranded me OUTSIDE of Pearson airport overnight after canceling my flight and locked me out of my account in the middle of that fiasco. The app tells you almost nothing about your flight until two days before and opens most things in browser, meaning you're better off going to their (also buggy) website. Recently it crashes so frequently that Samsung suggested I put it in deep sleep so it wouldn't compromise my phone. Please skip them!

Absolute dogwater app with UX so bad I can only wonder how special the people who made it are. For some reason I need to add reservations manually after signing in to see their status, and after I checked in online, the boarding pass doesn't appear in the app. You really need to be a special kind of person to make an app this laughably bad.

This app is horrid. If it was planned to be horrid, well, AC has outdone themselves! Bravo! I tried to book a flight 2x, and got an error code. So, I book it elsewhere. About an hour later, the app advises me I now have THREE bookings for the same flight! I have THREE confirmation numbers. Which means I have now paid 3x.?? Even though the app said the booking was not made and gave me an error code. I will now work on cloning myself.

I have updated my review to 2 star because the app still requires a lot of work as follows, 1-Itineray association doesn't work too well. If some itineraries are created outside the app they have to be manually input. 2-There is no access to flight receipts. One must still request copies of their receipts by email and wait 3 weeks for them. 3-Digital ID does not work when it gets to Passport scanning. It takes a picture of the photo page but then fails at NFC scanning . I hope that helps.

Updating my review based on the new app. This new app is a lot better than the old one, and has so much potential, but it still needs so much improvement and it seems like whoever designed this app is not actually a traveller. You really need to be taking design input from travellers here. - Boarding passes now appear properly cached which is great as this was always a horrible problem in the previous app where it would constantly forget your boarding pass unless you were logged in. However, I will always repeat this over and over- please for the love of god make it so the boarding pass shows *by default* when you open up this app if your borading time is within the current hour. Fidding with these apps in the security lineup is so annoying. - The app, just like the previous one, for some strange/obtuse reason does not automatically load boarding passes. This should be *AUTOMATIC* no matter where the flight was purchased from or checked in from - you know who I am (I am signed in), you know my Aeroplan number, you know what flights I am on - just load them already. Why do I have to manually copy/paste booking references from emails in 2020, this stuff should be automatic. - The app's current "active trip" is not intelligent. Trips stay in it forever. Currently when I look at the app it is showing me a trip from 3 weeks in the past. - Aeroplan prompts for a different login. Again, annoying since I know Air Canada and Aeroplan have the same login now. Why do I have to log in twice?

Hard to say if it's the app or the brand. But the only use for this app is flight status notifications. I have never been able to access my boarding pass, change flight, even check in for my flight, etc. (Basically anything you expect an airline app to do, this only does flight notifications.) Then you have to download the aeroplan app for the "loyalty program." And that one is just as convenient...yea, no. Not at all.

I have never written a positive review of this app, so why start now? I was just using it a few moments ago, trying to book a flight and was surprised at how easy it was! That surprise was short lived, however, as I was unable to actually purchase the flight. 3 times I tried. Each time, i would get a notification from AMEX that a charge had hit my card, however I received a technical error EVERY. TIME. On the app, the flight i wanted was $919. On the website, THE SAME FLIGHT WAS $1100 roughly. Great business you guys have. After the 3rd attempt to book the flight, I was forced to use the webpage. Of course, that worked and now I have to pay $200+ MORE. NOW I have to call AMEX and make sure Air Canada didn't charge me the additional 3 times.

Attempted to check in with the app ~4 hours prior to departure. Check-in may or may not have worked (still waiting; will check at the airport), the boarding passes it "displayed" were botched, and I couldn't access any other information about any flights or other bookings because the app failed to detect network connection even while I was connected to WiFi. Completely unusable.

The app is rather slow and "buggy", rather than having "everything" work in the app when you're booking/ making changes flights or checking your itinerary, the app opens up new "windows" or tabs. Sometimes the app can't even load my flight and I'm left with a semi loaded page of blank drop downs and/or unresponsive buttons. It's inefficient for those like me, who don't fly Air Canada often and are US residing, and they're not an Aeroplan member. But at least (?) the app works.

Terrible re-design of app. Can't easily find boarding passes. They are under "more" not "my trips" tab. Alaska Airlines app let's you select earlier or later flights during check in, this doesn't. Doesn't send notifications, and always get confused between logging in with Air Canada credentials or Aeroplan. Old Air Canada user interface was pretty good, this new stuff is garbage.

I was surprised to see that there was no biometric authentication option in this new update(Nov 2019). I wish they bring it back! Should have more than just three airport maps or atleast list all the lounges and AC facilities around the globe with an option to purchase one-time passes in the app. Integration with Google services like Google Pay to store the boarding passes and Calendar sync for trips. The developer should also consider combining the Rouge Player app with this one.

Air Canada is just terrible in general. Suppose you booked a flight, but you're stuck in limbo ("A problem occurred with your session but a request was sent to create your booking. To verify that your booking is confirmed, call Air Canada Reservations"). So you think maybe I can cancel this reservation for the app. Your heart soars when the app can find the reservation. But no, you can't cancel the reservation from the app. And the wait time is 3 hours when you try to call. Avoid Air Canada.

Terrible app. Essentially a total waste of your time and memory space. Definitely not worth the enormous frustration for the miniscule slow limited unreliable functionality. Truly, wouldn't bother with this app unless you enjoy being stimied at every turn trying to perform basic functions. I can only assume the overall rating isn't lower is because Air Canada "buys" ratings. Possibly only thing worse than app is AC customer service. On hold as I write this review. 3 hours 20 minutes and counting

LATEST: You can now finally reliably view boarding passes offline. However the app is still horroble, constantly spinning and trying to sync, and CONSTANTLY losing your page, AGAIN something you dont want when trying to get through. EDIT: Air Canada obviously posted the below reply without even reading my comments because this is how the app has always behaved and still does, another stellar move by Air Canada... Why bother reading reviews, you can just try the app during an acrual trip.

Confusing interface where the menus and back button change context in the middle of a process. Times out constantly while trying to check-in. When starting to check-in, you cannot do it from your saved bookings (have to retype booking reference number). Has never let me download a boarding pass to the phone, and I always need to go to the counter anyway.

This app is incredibly awkward to use. It doesn't automatically associate your booked flights. You have to add each and every flight, request to be notified, request that boarding passes be added and doesn't recognize when you've already checked into a flight. Pretty much all functionality is done by the user as they go through, nothing is automatically handled. It's incredibly frustrating in 2019 to need to use an app that is this outdated. And how do you access loyalty program information?

Terrible roll out of latest update. All my existing bookings are gone. Re-entered manually and they disappeared again. Gave it a couple of days and now trying to re-enter (flying tomorrow), but it's just crashing. Absolutely useless. I even tried giving feedback through the app, but that crashed too. Update - bookings only appear if booked directly with AC. The app will not recognize any travel agent bookings (all of which appear on the website under 'my bookings') making it basically useless.

The airline itself is quite good but this app and system integration is poor. When you log in with your Aeroplan number it doesn't pull your flights automatically, need to add manually. It doesn't allow scanning documents, need to use their site. It doesn't remind to register on time - I got a push notification 50 min after the check-in started. After you check in online, need to do it again in the app if want to see boarding pass. Comparesd with Delta or JetBlue, this app is lacking.
