a wonderful addition to alter ego, though you absolutely need it to play this one. not worth the price as it takes about 30 minutes to beat it, and it's only tapping bubbles. however if you love AE, then this is a lovely story edition

didn't understand the point of the game. just tapping and tapping. adds almost nothing to the original game. I thought it would be totally different and as good as the first one. still, purchased it for supporting the developers.

Alter Ego Complex definitely has improved gameplay to avoid the first game's repetitive click and play.. But I do find that this spin off was too short and was a bit plain. It didn't really much gain insight of Es, it only speaks of Es's dreams and desires.. It definitely is satisfactory improved gameplay wise, but the rest could be improved a little bit more!

If you haven't played Alter Ego yet, I recommend playing that first. As for this game, it's relatively short, but gives a lot of insight into Es's character and plays like a cute story book with some mini games as well. A very enjoyable experience overall

I like this game and Es so much^^ But I'm not sure of Es's story. Are dreams about wanderer really caused her impulses and that stuff like in Alter Ego? I really wanted to know more about Es, because I liked her at the moment I first saw her. Her design, emotions, story are very interesting to me! About the gameplay: it was nice and not boring! Maybe a bit boring, but I learned more about Es. Overall, I really like the gampley and style of this game:)

This is like a prequel to the main game(ALTER EGO). It explains the whole plotline before you meet Es. I recommend checking the main game out before trying this. Similiar artstyle just like the main game. Good visuals. The perfect soundtrack to fit the atmosphere. Not much content but good enough.

Music and art is as beautiful as the first game. Complex is simple but lovely. Although it was a little short, I have faith that this isn't the end. I think there will be an update or ending of some sort someday. One where Es does go free at the cost of us never being able to see her again. That's fine with me. Although this is just my wishful thinking. I'll keep dreaming about that happy ending.

I cannot express the following point enough, this game is meant to be played and enjoyed by those who not only finished the prior game (alter ego) but ache to know more about its central character, only when viewing the game like this can one truly enjoy it for its more laid back contemplative gameplay which centers around learning and understanding the feelings of the main character, though its short it's an experience that has the ability to move the player deeply.

I enjoyed the game without I doubt, they gave more in depth reading of the books from the previous game and gave a look of es in a different style of drawing and setting. It really is a great game for those of you who enjoyed alter ego. The art and writing is beautiful, and I enjoyed the mini games and systems in placed into the game. I really do wish to see more of this type of game play as the 'dreams' where a really nice touch and I would not mind paying more for such content.

It wasn't as impactful as the first game. And pretty short. The clicker mechanic made it a bit boring. The minigames were average. The art is good. But in the dream CGIs if you look closely enough, some parts are unrefined and rushed, especially the backgrounds. For the plot, I like how it gives us insight into Es before we met her. Overall, it's okay and maybe I'm just setting my expectations a bit too high.

Disappointed, Alter Ego is one of those most eye opening games I've ever played. It amazed me, and the amount it made you connect with es in such a short time was amazing. But this? We watched a girl repeat to herself how lonely she was, and even at the end it didn't feel like anything changed. There wasn't a story here, and I'm sad it didn't build apon the original story of Alter Ego. The music was beautiful but everything was really short but so painfully slow in how repetitive it was.

This game is an interesting exploration of Es's character. You'll have to play the first Alter Ego game to understand most of the meaning in this game. It helps the player see what type of thoughts Es has while they are away and how she feels about the player. The only 2 flaws this game had was that it was too short and that the text scrolling for books was a bit slow. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience for me.

Just as enchanting and subtly existential as the original, but doubles down on Es' perspectives and struggles as she wrestles with waiting affectionately for our return. The soundtrack is as lovely and haunting as ever and after the golden ending of original it only makes sense to focus on Es' as she is every bit as iconic and influential to our perspective as she seems but I feel that losing the introspective testing from the first game was more detaching. A wonderful game regardless. More!

Complex is an overall fantastic game that is a must-have for all who enjoyed the first Alter Ego. It really gives a lot of background on Es' character which we still know very little about. The artstyle varries a bit from the previous game, but it can undoubtedly be recognized as part of Alter Ego. I really hope that Complex is the second game of many to come, as the game itself was rather short. In the meantime, I'm crossing my fingers that Alter Ego will live on!

It feels like this game is building up character backstory to Es, which means in-universe the Facade, the room Es is trapped in, and everything is real, it's not just a metaphor. Considering that, it's really annoying that this game just spins it's wheels showing different what ifs for stories Es could be slotted into. Like "wouldn't it be cool if we made a sequel where Es got out of the room, and you could have fun adventures together?" And, yeah that would be cool... So why not just make that?

Very well done and expands on the story told in Alter Ego. Very simple clicking and tap games but I feel that there could have been more available as well as more books to walk through. Hopefully that gets added (would love some of the books you borrow at the end game of Alter Ego) as well as more dreams we can find because outside them there isn't much to honestly justify the price tag. A bit expensive but worth it if you've gone through all of the base game.

Well, that was something. This game/visual novel (especially the ending) hit a lot harder than I expected. I wish this wasn't the end to the story...(or maybe it's not?) If you enjoyed the first game, this is a somewhat short but worthwhile introspective look into the character's mind. Highly recommended but you may want to have some tissues on hand, lol

I love how it expands on Es's character. The first game was great, giving life to a character I wasn't sure I'd feel for. The second one was short and I'm barred from finishing the game, as I've gotten through all the books, except the last one. I don't know how to unlock that one. Game was short and sweet. Loved seeing her dreams. Definitely recommend both for quite the immersive story.

It's good, really pretty animation with great music. It's nice to see more of Es, as this game shows what she does when you aren't around. Gets into her mind and shows what she thinks about these books she has. My problem is that the game is really, really tedious. The reading scenes take a long time and when there is gameplay, they're frustrating tap-style games (think flappy bird). It's also very short for $7. Can only recommend if you're heavily invested in Es as a character (I am).

I bought this after completing everything in the original Alter Ego. Truthfully, I think that Complex may have been more impactful as a visual novel without mini game or clicking mechanics, as the mini games feel very clunky and the pacing is very slow... I didn't feel that this was a problem in the original. It is also extremely short for the pricing and didn't feel particularly satisfying in either gameplay or expanding original story.
