I LOVE Amtrak but this app needs an overhaul. - it takes three tries to successfully search for available bookings, each and every time - my bookings are refreshed every time I return to the app, which then refuse to load if I'm out of service (which seems to happen every time the ticket inspector shows up 😭) - I can't dismiss adverts for Amtrak services - aggressive, consumer-unfriendly scare tactics to buy travel "protection" ...the list goes on. Help me love you Amtrak, I'm a member of RPA

Amtrak needs to update its technology. This user interface is really adversarial against the people who are trying to spend money. If I choose my starting location in my final destination, all I get is an error code. There's a map but it's impossible to use because it's satellite view and there's no connections between the stations. Amtrak should offer alternative routes if they're out doesn't exist or at least have a way to know what routes do exist so I can choose something.

The app is generally good, although parts of the interface could use some polish, and I *really* wish it had the ability to save tickets to Google Wallet, like the iPhone app can with Apple Wallet. It could also use some speed improvements, it can be pretty laggy, which is frustrating to wait for as the conductor comes by to check tickets.

while I appreciate Amtrak and the service they provide...it's always something with them. The app has been wonky for a while and it hasn't been letting you checkout/pay for your tickets. you also get random "error" pop ups or a "timeout" when you're literally just trying to book a ticket. But nevertheless thank you for your service.

I'm not very "techy" but this is kinda crazy with different screens on the app. it seems like the whole thing needs updating and consolidating options. there are several places you can look up about what the experience will be but they dont have exactly the same information. eg the bid up would be nice to find again. even the help "button" I cant find it again either. I tried amtrak last year when I had some winter travel alone. I had complications then too. I did enjoy the ride, the staff.

Cannot book using the app. The problem is I cannot tap on the station to select it, either using the Map option or the List option. Similarly, I cannot look up the status of the train. Similar, tapping error issues. It is frustrating. Edit (updated from 1 to 4 stars): most glitches seem to have been fixed now. Better late than never!

The app used to work...okayish. But the last few updates have made it near useless. Anytime I go to log into my account, it puts up a loading screen, and that's it. Never proceeds to where I can log in, and I can't back out of it. I have to close the program all together. Beyond that, buying tickets works, but it is buggy and not very intuitive. It has detered me from Amtrak as a travel option over the last 2 years because of these issues.

Bought my second ticket with this app. I filled out the prompts to buy a ticket. App crashes. I reload the trip. Ticket goes from $29 to $37. Crashes again. Crashes a third time. Ticket goes up from $37 to $49. Go through all the prompts five times to get a single one way ticket for one person. Price goes up $20 in seven minutes for no reason.

The app won't let me log into my rewards account. When I click on "Account", it just throws me back to the previous screen. Same thing when I click "Sign in". I've tried reinstalling, etc., but it hasn't made any difference. Though some features of the app work, the aforementioned problem is a serious one and they need to fix it.

The Amtrak app is a convenient and easy way to book and manage train tickets. I appreciate the user-friendly interface and the ability to quickly search for train schedules and fares. The app also provides real-time updates on train status, which is helpful for planning travel. However, I have experienced some glitches and delays when using the app, which can be frustrating.

Works extremely well to book trains and make changes! It would be nice to be able to make changes and if the fare is more, be allowed to use points to pay the difference. My only complaint would be that train status updates are slow. There are many times that the Train Status in the app is different than the Display in the station. Also the text notice for the gate/track is delivered when I'm already standing on the platform.

Your Amtrak train ticket account is separated from your loyalty account. You need to logon twice. It doesn't let you search for your ticket number, you need to already know it even if you're signed on. You cannot copy + paste from one screen to the next. Lots of inefficiencies that are frustrating. It is good if you have already printed out your ticket or have saved it as a PDF but you can't just rely on it as your ticket

Terrible UI with resetting during date selection. Check the dates that get sent on the receipt NOT in the app. The departure date of my trip got moved to the same date as the return in a city 100 miles away during overlapping times. The fare I paid a month prior was more expensive than if I got on the same train the next day with 2 seats of availability, byt charged me $23 more than I had already paid to stay on the not full train that had departed. The call rep was barely audible as well.

I'm pretty good at navigating these apps, but this one is rough. While typing in a destination it will interrupt you with every letter you type with a recommendation drop down screen. Then you can add another letter, then the drop down screen and so on with every letter. Takes 5 minutes to type in Sacramento CA. and then a return destination. Wow, make plenty of time and try not to get frustrated you will eventually get there.

When this app works correctly, it's wonderful. But sometimes, too often, after I select a train and provide all my purchase information, the app says that it cannot complete my transaction then, and tells me to come back another time. Other times, it changes the train I selected before charging my credit card. When the app does these things, it's terrible.

I like the app, it works well to avoid having to call Amtrak. They recently changed some of the options, but it still allows for the flex I need when booking, changing or canceling. My one issue is that when you're in the middle of booking, they allow for the fair to change and you have to cancel the whole thing and rebook. It would be much better if they showed which leg of the trip changed and give me the option to agree to the new fair or pick another option so you can complete the booking.

Pretty much useless - I log in, select my city and destination and keep having to click through errors. On the rare occasion you get to the end, it won't process payment because I've been logged out at some point and it wants me to restart. I travel frequently, and when I'm running through a station to catch a train, but then have to stop and use a kiosk, it makes this app useless and infuriating. Update: On my own I decided to uninstall the app and reinstall. It appears to be working now.

Not the most intuitive app for travel. They could do better. Not easy to modify trip, want to change departure station, couldn't do that easily. Wanted to cancel and book new ticket, couldn't figure that out. Amtrak should look at how Delta airlines does things. Points that never expire, same day changes, no change fees are great highlights on how to attract and keep customers. Train travel should be relaxing and flexible because it is slower than airlines but nearly the same cost.

Does most of what you'd expect, but not well and with frequent bugs. The app just doesn't let me sign in to my guest rewards account. Tapping the "Account" tab or the "Sign In" button just makes it load for a second, then it goes back to the main page with no change. Similar bugs are pretty common, such that I often have to just give up on the app and go to the website. In general, though, it does allow you to buy tickets and find info for trips, with some fanangling.

No fixed timetables anymore and no STATION INFORMATION for both St Paul and Chicago. Also the app feedback email doesn't work (no certificate) Update: May 16, 2024 Still no fix. Have been calling for at least a year prior to my post here. What's infuriating is the blow off answers you get. Thanks for calling this to our attention. We'll look into the matter. What a crock! And if you call, all you get is someone that can only book travel, not someone that can do anything about app issues.
