Camera that was connected to the app previously needed reset and will not reconnect even after factory reset. Many delays in video and audio, speech function did not have any way to adjust the audio output. No matter how quietly we talked, it was very VERY loud on the other end and scared my son. Every time this function was used the camera crashed. Unfortunately a waste of money considering the lack of precision and general buggy issues with both the camera and the app in general.

The app worked when we subscribed, then video started lagging heavily and the sound would either not work or be out of sync. Rewired the doorbell and now we cannot add the doorbell again. We continue to receive an error message and cannot name the doorbell and finish the process. Also, there should be a way to skip the instructions so I don't need to swipe through everything each time I try to add the device. Edit: completed set up using iPhone as suggested online. Video worked but now doesnt.

The notifications are getting slower/delayed. After the last update the problems got worse...and yes, I conducted numerous 'speed tests' to verify it's not the wifi or broadband as the cause. This camera system is slowly degrading. I have Pro 4 cameras with no base, just wifi connections, so there is no interference from my router either.

One of the most expensive but least functional of all security camera apps. Steer clear of anything Arlo. The app often gives you the wrong video completely. When the short video clip does show up it starts playing right away (you can hear it) but is still loading the video. Then when it does show video about 2 or more seconds into the video it is still dark and hard to see until it gets going..by then the video is almost done and the user did not see what wad on the clip and has to replay it.

I've spent hundreds of dollars on arlo cameras for our home & property. I pay monthly for services. A year ago, I would have given a great review. Within less than 2 years, almost all of our cameras have stopped working, stopped connecting, and/or have started taking on condensation in the lense. I wouldn't recommend the investment. It starts off great but there is no longevity and inevitably becomes a huge waste of money.

Works Ok, lots of bugs on Android, the most annoying bug is clicking on alerted videos and getting the video above it in the list. This only happens the first time you go in. After that it selects the correct video. I can not be the only person getting this issue. Recordings start half way into the motion that set it off and rarely records everything.

I find the app very difficult to use. It takes several taps to see the video, and by then, whatever made the motion is gone. My husband did have access but then it "expired", and I can't re-add him. When he did have access, we both couldn't be logged in simultaneously. Definitely NOT user friendly.

Can't turn on recording mode anymore. The option has been deleted from my app and no amount of reinstalling has fixed it. Can't even use the recommended route of contacting support about this technical problem because they take the option away from you after a year, and I didn't have this problem until the updates this year. Don't buy arlo!!

Does not "trip" quick enough. Nor do I see a setting to filter out squirrels and such (my previous camera did that), night vision not good, very grainy despite having good WiFi. Needed to get extenders for the house as the cameras wouldn't work from one side of the house to another🤦🏻♀️. However, if it's daytime and the subject moves slowly then it's great.

Cameras drop connection and then don't reconnect. Sometimes, the cameras are connected and clearly working as they are giving motion detection but can not be connected to, nor do they store recordings. It's usually decent but the downgraded quality if you don't have a sub is pretty annoying, especially since the first several generations of the base station had no legitimate means of local storage (nothing better than small capacity flash drives).

Recordings are only available with a subscription. This sucks because other brands like Google Nest/Home offers free event history. The microphone has horrible feedback, period. It doesn't matter if you're close or far away. Yes, you can link to 3rd party apps but features doesn't work there either. If you want to pay a subscription each month or annually, you'll like the app. If not, you won't. You can only stream live. It works for what I need it for but for security you'll have to pay the sub

This review is not specifically for the app, but the software and support of the cameras as well. The hardware is great, but you'll struggle to get the cameras to stay connected or even show up on your portal at all, even if they're right next to the wifi. Sometimes they just offline for no reason, and have to be removed and resynced to the network, or the base station restarted. What the point of cameras if I have to constantly go home to restart them?

When it works, it works well. However it regularly fails to update the preview screenshot to whatever the last seen activity was. When I answer my doorbell from the notification, half the time it just sits at a black screen and spins, I have to close the app and manually start my doorbell footage to see video most of the time. It does not matter if I'm in 5G coverage or on WiFi, the performance of the app leaves a whole lot to be desired.

One of the functions leave a bit to be desired. I bought the 2nd Gen 3 pack and the motion sensor turned the spotlight on fine before we registered them on our plan. Now 2 of the lights need to be turned on manually or we deal with IR footage instead of color. I've done everytbing the correct way, and can't seem to find an article on the issue. Other than that, it's a pretty cool little system.

2019: 2 Stars 2024: 3 Stars Overall I would say the only thing that has been proved between the last few years is the quality of the cameras and the overall footage. The app itself is decent, however the voice option has massive delays ranging anywhere between 10 to 20 seconds between in/output. Trying to have a conversation is, to say the least, very awkward when trying to dismiss solicitors or other individuals who may approach your home. Improvements need to be made to bases range.

So far, I've been enjoying my recently installed cameras for the last five days, but here are some areas of improvement for the app: - There is a delay when switching to live view after changing the phone's orientation. - When accessing the "Feed" and selecting a recorded video, the video that plays is the one that was recorded after the video you selected. - The API experiences latency in retrieving recorded videos.

Not reliable for a security app. Motion detection doesn't always work. Recent update has resulted in many of my cameras not recording motion and/or not notifying me of motion. Recent update also removed a lot of options regarding notifications for certain types of motion. If you haven't already invested in these products, I would recommend staying away. I will likely be switching to something else in the near future.

Fast forward 4 years. Still a solid 2 out of 5. My Ring doorbell responds quicker still. It takes 5 to 10 seconds for the live screen to kick in. When the small screen is live and I go to full screen on my Samsung sometimes its just black. I have to disconnect and reconnect several times to get it to work. This is a Pro 3. Disappointed. When it works its nice. I expected way more from a system this expensive.

Works very well most of the time. Captured video and camera viewing is available anywhere. Modes and rules are very flexible for activating motion detection and notifications from cameras. Geofencing is sometimes quirky, but I believe that has to do more with my phone than the app. Updates often cause problems and I've had to uninstall and reinstall the app on a couple of occasions to get it to function properly after an update. Update: Every firmware update breaks it.

There is a bug if you have a wired item, door bell, it will go offline, and there is no way to get it back online. All wireless devices have an online/offline toggle. Edit: This bug is about 5 years old, and they still don't have ab actual fix. They just tell you to delete and redo the entire process over and over until it connects again. Edit: Support is trying to fix an engineering issue. That's not how you add a toggle button inside the app for these ongoing issues.
