Autosync for MEGA - MegaSync

More About Autosync for MEGA - MegaSync

This app is an automatic file sync and backup tool. It lets you automatically synchronize files and folders with MEGA (mega.nz) cloud storage and with your other devices. It is an ideal tool for photo sync, document and file backup, automatic file transfer, automatic file sharing between devices,...
New files in your cloud account are automatically downloaded onto your device. New files in your device are uploaded. If you delete a file on one side, it will be deleted on the other side. It works across multiple devices (your phone and your tablet). If their folders are synced with the same cloud account, they will be kept in sync with each other.

This is how MEGA works on computers but not on Android. Two-way automatic synchronization should be an essential function of the official app. For whatever reason, it is not the case. MegaSync is here to fill the gap.

All file transfers and communications between user devices and cloud storage servers are securely encrypted and do not go through our servers. No outsiders will be able to decrypt, see or modify any file contents.

MAIN FEATURES

• Full two-way automatic synchronization of files and folders
• Many sync modes. Not only two-way, you can also choose Upload only, Upload then delete, Download only, Download mirror,...

This app is a lifeline. Issues to make it better: Could you please upgrade the scripts so they can parse ? and : I get a lot of errors in the app trying to backup filenames that have those characters. The colon is the important one, question mark less so. One of the most important things I use this to backup it voice recordings that my phone automatically timestamps the filename when it is created and uses a colon in the time format. So I can't easily rename all these files to make them sync. If you could fix that one thing it would make my life a lot easier. Also I bet a lot of people have timestamped filenames with : in it, so this would be a useful feature. Anyway, thanks so much for making this, and even more important: maintaining it!

This app is everything the official app wishes it was. With this app you get bidirectional sync on all or selected folders, rules for syncing (WiFi, battery level, etc.) and many other features. The developer is responsive to email, helpful and friendly. If you use Mega.nz and Android, this is a staple app. I bought Pro version and find it to be great value.

Has more options than Mega. The original Mega did not had the options I need. This app has. It works great. Except... (drum roll)... when the android device boots up. During boot and when this app starts up, it deletes all synced files on the device. After your sync interval it will sync all the files back again eventually. I don't know why it does that on all my devices, but perhaps at startup it did not successful connects to mega and therefore says "there are no files in the cloud, delete all" I'm just guessing here. Please fix. If this is fixed, I give 5 *

Great idea, very useful app. For improvement: 1. Wakelocks - more than expected at given autosync settings. 2. Longer sync intervals would be welcome and an incremental scale 1, 2, 3, 4... 55, 56, 57... Hours/days, so that the user decides. For me, it would be once a week and not at the same time, especially if conditions unfulfilled, in which case trying again in 29 hours makes more sense than in 24. A truly valuable app nonetheless. I am using it for syncing ebook folder, will do music, too.

It is not syncing files from Android (Pie) device as soon as I save it. It takes around 80 seconds for files to get updated. I have a fast and stable internet connection. Edit: Thank you for responding. Could you make it configurable? Maybe an intent to trigger sync from other applications would be a good addition. Please add it in basic version if possible. I have a usecase for files to sync as soon as I update them.

This was key for my to switch 100% to mega. I often download music on my phone and using offline files in the official mega app wasn't working. Very simple to set up and works like a charm I find it has a hard time syncing large amounts of files (like during my first initial sync) , but I just kept restarting the sync until it was done. Definitely worth paying for

What an awful app. It nitpicks what files it uploads or not, no matter how many times to refresh it. Makes you think all your files are backed up when they aren't. It's easier to do syncs by hand it'd seem. Makes you watch ads for nothing, doesn't even have a premium version if it was worth it. And it isn't.

It just works, which us great. The only thing I wish it did differently was use androids built in file picker so that I could sync folders from document providers and such.

App made by a kid with a huge ego, no critics allowed when pointing. No qa. Error sync if foler exists. Huge battery drain. Unstable. Buggy bs. /Storage/emulated/0 failed sync. No more than 10k files can be monitored and synced. Very limited auto sync db. . Cannot handle 10 million files.drain. Creates duplicate folders self multiplied exponentially if from different devices. No multi select local folders into one remote folder. Does not ignore and cannot ren special characters and stops upload.

I wish I could simply rename files, and only the names get synced, instead of deleting and uploading whole (huge) files. It's possible in the official Mega app, don't know if it could be possible for this 3rd party app as well?

Excellent application to establish sync between custom folders on device and in cloud. The help guide is very informative and covers all the necessary points. I purchased the Pro option to enable more folder syncs and support the developer.

Got good email support when I had a weird constant sync issue. Whilst getting help, I tried other sync apps but this one actually tells you what its doing and seems a LOT faster and easier on the battery. Feature request: Would love to have the option to exclude touching specific files like .nomedia files (to prevent autosync from deleting it)

I met DropSync & DriveSync some time ago and was delighted to find AutoSync for MEGA recently. All provide the same smooth & simple interface to sync a directory, which helps me keep my GPS tracks from various devices all in one place. I love that they sync automagically so that the files are in place by the time I sit down to look at them :-)

Why cloud storage providers cannot implement proper multi-folder backup options into their native app is beyond me. However, the developers of MegaSync have done what Mega themselves could not do, and they did it well. My important data stays backed up as intended. With a bounty of feature and customization options for each and every sync you create, makes this a MUST have for users of Mega.nz cloud storage.

I downloaded this app and paid for upgrade to allow multiple sync and avoid ads. App performed as promised but with one HUGE exception: at least twice a day, I now receive "text-like" spam (poor spelling, &c.) that pops up in unusual location on phone screen + variation of my standard text notification. Wth. Uninstall. NOTE: if more spamtexts arrive, I'll correct review. UPDATE: I JUST GOT ONE, SO I'M CHANGING MY RATING WITH APOLOGIES TO DEVELOPERS FOR MY MISTAKE. REINSTALL.

A++ I have also used AutoSync for OneDrive from the same developer and this works just as well but with Mega. I definitely recommend getting the Pro upgrade as it allows for additional folders, eliminates ads, and allows you to fingerprint access the app. The customization of how each folder syncs is all customizable. One folder I may want to only sync one-way and another I want two-way sync as well as many other sync options. I depend on this app for my daily workflow and it works flawless!

Good app to have if you want to keep your device backed up to your Mega cloud drive. I happily paid to unlock the full app which is where the full potential really comes in. Can set up more syncs and even connect multiple Mega accounts. Transfers seem a little slow sometimes on a mobile data connection but it will eventually get the job done, even if you have to retry. Overall I would say it's worth having this app handy if you are a Mega.nz user keeping important backups on the cloud.

I downloaded this, purchased some of the upgrades, and then forgot about it. I re-discovered it today. I wondered why my photos were not updating. I didn't turn on autosync! What a newbe mistake. I really like this. I did have one error on a photo file that caused the app to stop on error. It didn't say what the error was, but each time it cause the backup to quit. I deleted the file (one of many of the same thing) and the error when away.

Fantastic third-party client, much better than Mega's own Android or even Windows apps. I especially love the different sync mode options, like "upload mirror" to do one-way backups. I use this instead of Google photos to keep my pictures backed, because it preserves the folder structure and has better status reporting. Powerful set of options, everything just works, set-and-forget. One of the most robustly-designed and bugless apps on my phone overall. Could use more detailed error reporting.

When I try to connect my account, a progress bar appears to complete, and then it sits there for about 10 minutes before (I guess) giving up, not letting me sync anything. I do have a lot of stuff in my account; I imagine it's timing out while decrypting the file list; but c'mon. Gets an extra star for at least not charging me for the privilege.
