UPDATE: We continue to times in Basecamp as our core business too for project management. Basecamp continues to take it's product further. We continue to take out subscription further. They are always communications, always owning their bugs, and always making it better. So far, Basecamp has proven to be exactly what we need to take our small business to the next level. It has empowered delegation and planning significantly.

We are using Basecamp 3 for our group of Lay/Care Pastors, and Pastors in our Church. In the beginning it's a learning curve. I had to adjust the notifications. I don't want email notifications and App notifications. Finding the notification settings could be easier. I chose to only receive notifications in my phones home screen whenever I "don't have the App open."

I would very much like to use this app. But I am having the same problem as the other recent post. Nothing is loading, not even slowly. The app loads fine. The content is absent. Such a great service that I would consider paying for, but I can't use this until the app issues are worked out. This company has a long track record of getting it right. Unfortunately not here. But hopefully their commitment to the user experience will kick in and it will get fixed soon. Android 8.1.0, Moto g5 Plus.

For the last seven years, Basecamp has been an excellent way for me and my siblings to coordinate helping my parents in their later years. It is a brainstorming platform, a to-do list, a record keeping system, a contacts reference and a timeline. I feel like it has helped our whole family grow closer by enabling us to communicate in a variety of ways, by texting and sending photos in the Campfire feature, to private one-on-on Pings, to affirming Boosts. Thank you, Basecamp!

The app just doesn't work. Anytime I try to load it the projects will not load. I have tried multiple times to reload, uninstall and reinstall, same problem and it does not matter if I am on or off wifi. Same problem. The app is useless which is unfortunate. Hopefully it is a bug that can be fixed. My phone is a Samsung S8.

I enjoy base camp but I cannot rate this app hi until they fix the glitch of "chat is offline please try again later" that constantly plagues me. It's pretty much every single time I go to respond to anything my coworkers have sent me on base camp. I have the most updated version of the app and my phone is also up to date. It's incredibly annoying to not be able to send an immediate response and have to close and open the app 5 to 7 times in order to get a simple message sent through.

No Scrolling In Docs & Files. We use this app at my job. I have been inquiring about a scrolling feature to move back and forth through files/photos for YEARS. Much like a gallery function when you have a photo or doc open. You have to exit out + hunt for the spot you were in to then look at the next or previous photo/file that was near/next to the one you were just looking at. This is a HUGE PIA when you upload a ton of photos which we tend to do to create other content like before+after pix.

The company I work for uses Basecamp countless times on a daily basis. On desktop computers. The app...is another story. I have never had full functionality of the app on my phone. 95% of the time no campfire conversations, pings, to-do's etc etc ever loaded, regardless of how long I waited. The other 5% of the time it functioned after restarting the app multiple times. Since the most recent couple of updates, it now doesn't load 100% of the time. This kind of app is not viable for start-ups at!

This app is great. I had always been averse to trying Basecamp because of the cost, even though a lot of people really seemed to enjoy it it always seemed more for established businesses. Opening up the free tier has given me the chance to try it out for personal projects and some freelance work. As business grows, could definitely see using this on a paid plan because of how intuitive things are. Just very well thought out in the structure of it all.

The app experience has been very bad for years. They're aware of a conflict with Android when trying to write/use notes, but it's never been resolved. The fact that it uses your data every time you open the app is unacceptable in this day and age. I get it's a cloud platform, but every single other app has offline access and the ability to save without a connection. I love the idea behind Basecamp, but it's time I moved on. As Jason Fried said, they care about money first and that's not me.

Originally 5 star review moved to 3 now moved to a 1. App has lots of issues staying connected. I try to send messages and it just doesnt work sometimes. It's constantly offline. Slack is so much more adept and functions better (syncs better between mobile and browser, functions better when connection is unstable for instance). Needs a lot of improvement... I can't believe this app is so bad after so many years. What happened to Basecamp and the team there?

The new UI update is not good for users like myself with lots of projects. The compact list view is gone, as is the option to view archived projects. All that's left are these giant cards that only display a few characters of the title. It's not useful at all. Even on the desktop version they took away the option to make list view the default. I'm getting tired of these "one size fits all" design choices that clearly don't work for everyone. Give me a toggle so I can go back to using the app like it was before.

Plenty of glitches where the app is inaccessible for days at a time. Not a very logical way to organize bookmarks, and the search function is not efficient, nor does it seem to follow the established protocol for search terms. Overall disorganized, inefficient and hard to navigate. I have to use it since it's the only hub for a curriculum my family uses. Unfortunate.

There are several features that don't work from a phone: When editing a comment post, in the messages section of a group, the attachment (paper clip) icon and other formatting options are not available. So, if you forget to add a pic, then you have to re-post or get on a computer. Saving drafts of posts is also a problem. Ping functions are no where to be found in the phone app for Android. There are a few other difficulties but I can't remember them at the moment.

It has its perks sure but it's not like I can use it because it is Always offline!! I can't respond to any of my important messages (and it has nothing to do with my internet connection) and have to get on the desktop app to do Anything, which defeats the purpose of having a mobile app. Sometimes restarting it helps but usually I just have to get on a PC. I really wish desktop app had audio cues for notifications.

Works well enough. I like that you can sync events to a Google calendar. Unfortunately, if you choose the wrong email the first time, you can't seem to change it. So make sure you sync correctly THE FIRST TIME. Otherwise this important feature is useless. The Add To Calendar option only appears half the time anyway.

I rate it 4 stars only because I have constant problems loading images to each project. If the images could be saved and slowly downloading over time instead of deleting itself. I could then continue the download after I resume cell phone service. All in all it is a fantastic app. I just wish the uploading of photos becomes easier. I am an android user if that helps.

Nice collaboration and teaching tool with rich functionality, but too complex. And the kichy wording for categories makes it even more challenging to navigate. I'm taking a course using basecamp and am finding the tool getting in the way. It's causing information and navigation overload. I suggest you run focus groups of users of multiple types. Also, impossible to put newlines in posts. If it's possible, it's certainly not obvious.

We test drove other project management apps. None were right for our small real estate development business. We needed a project management app that was lightweight and intuitive so we could get everyone using it with minimal training or friction. Basecamp ticked all the boxes. Creating task lists, communicating, tracking, all the things. And it's a great UX. And the desktop, mobile, and browser versions are all outstanding.
