Used since v1.0 years ago, had always been my favorite music player. Sadly it seems now the developer(s) have abandoned this altogether... no updates since 2021, WMA and many other file types are no longer playable, playlists are a DISASTER and do not save any of your selections after rebooting the app. Thanks for a good 7 years BlackPlayer EX! Sadly I think it's time I moved on.

The single best music playing app I have found and trust me when I tell you have have gone through alot. The free version was amazing and the paid ices the cake. Worth the couple bucks hands down. This is the first app i have ever paid for and the first i thought was worth the cash. I can give you details on why this app is the best but you can also read the description. My favriote features: The dark theme with optional color coding. The app remembering EXACTLY where you left off last time. The pause and resume of music before and after a call And just the whole lay out. Its the best really just give it a shot.

I've used this app for a really really long time, it's still great at what it does and unmatched, but I wanted to leave a NEW review just to tell people that development isn't halted, the dev said on Reddit he'd been working on an update.... which is taking a while. I took off a star because I'm having a few annoying glitches but they're easy to avoid for the most part. STILL 100% RECOMMEND OVER ANY OTHER MUSIC PLAYER.

Blackplayer has always been my player of choice. Until a few months ago. Suddenly, only certain songs will start to play, but then be cut off at some point before the halfway point. And other songs, it let'sn play to the end. I don't understand it. I've done all the troubleshooting, Ive checked & know i downloaded complete song files, & other apps i've tested work just fine. for some reason my PAID VERSION of this app cuts me off, sometimes, on some songs.

Not sure what happened, but suddenly all of my music can't be played, and I can't access anything on the SD card regardless of how I grant access. So this music player can now no longer play any music I have. Was the best music player I ever used, but now can't do the function of playing music. Update: had to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to work. Seems like the update just didn't update correctly.

This used to be the best music player in the store. It's the only app I ever paid for. That all ended about a month ago. I have never seen a software update so thoroughly bork a piece of software as the latest update did to this. Took me days to figure out how to get my music library back and now I can't get it to download or display 95% of the album covers. It was better off as abandonware.

The app worked great for years and years. Been using it since high school over three different phones and it's always worked. The October 29th update did something and made the app unable to access my stored music files. Even switching to the new API, restting my library, rescanning, giving the correct permissions and everything doesn't work. The app no longer recognizes any of my music and won't let me play it.

Best app for music. Well it was. Since the last update I've been plagued with issues. Firstly, tracks wouldn't load, had to reinstall to fix that. Now I can't manually add album covers, I have various albums with duplicate tracks and I can't seem to select external storage, only internal. I've mailed support all this but nothing back so far! UPDATE: The recent update seems to have resolved the album cover art issue, took a reinstall, but I still can't manually add cover art. Gallery only

Another update and even bigger issues. Now the app can't play any of my music files. They all say "error loading track". I'm looking for a replacement app that works without issues. Can I give it zero stars? It was great until the newest update. Now all of the albums are missing the tracks. I have to find songs manually by song title. I guess I need to find a better app.

Edit: I had to uninstall and reinstall the app after the last update, so now it works great. It was a 30 second inconvenience, but new installs should work great. Original: I have loved this app and used it for years. After the last update it no longer works, like everyone is saying. It can't access any media stored on my device. I used this to listen to my stored audio books, but I haven't been able to use it for a month now. I never had issues with any updates prior to this one.

The paid version is worth the price. Before buying it I tried MANY different music player apps including the free version for this one. However none of them offered the amount of customization options that come with the paid version. It's not to say it's perfect(make sure all albums have a unique name if you don't want them to share album arts) but if you want the Zune mp3 player experience on a phone, this is as close as you'll get to it.

For someone who could not use after the October 29th update, try to open the "New Storage API" option in Advanced Settings, after refreshing the library, it will fix the storage problem, sort of. You need to add your "Music folder" in "Grant Write Access" option, for those who have lots of music folders, painful. And the folder page in the library can not work normally, always stuck. It's still a good app, although I hope the storage problem can be fixed as soon as possible.

I really like the interface, when loading new albums I can get to the full album easily (haven't found other players with this) from the now playing screen I can access artist info, and the tag editor and album art works better than other apps. Used the EX version for years, but now it doesn't recognize files/folders. Probably an issue with android updates, not the app, but it's still frustrating.

This app *was* excellent for half a decade, and now it's unusable. Songs arbitrarily won't play, album art can't be changed for a reason not provided (so I can't even look up a solution), there's no direct line for feedback to be sent to the developers... it's a shame that an app this sleek and intuitive is now a shambling corpse of what it once was.

A fresh install of the app has given me back a lot of the functions lost with the last update. The app doesn't seem to recognise images in album folders as cover art automatically now(?) Is this a setting? The manually set album art does not work either. I've also noticed that when I try to export settings, I can only save to the download folder on internal storage with no option to pick any other folder. Please fix these bugs.

I really want to like this app. Unfortunately every time there is an android software update this app is unable to access my music library. I receive a message stating "error loading track!". I spend countless hours organizing music via external burners and external hard drives and I just want an app that can access the files on my phone. It's frustrating because I paid for the pro version and the app cannot access my music library. I really wish this issue could be sorted out.

For years it was my favorite and innovative music player app, however in recent times it's become a broken mess. Lyrics cannot be written into files, cover art downloads don't work, and it doesn't detect a custom typeface for changing fonts. A handful of issues that needs to be fixed in an update. It's been too long since an update has happened. If you plan on buying it, don't bother at this time.

update July 2024--if only the app could get write access to the sd card. this inability is causing me lots of problems now. reduced from 5 to 2 stars Was looking for something to play music offline to replace Google Play Music, and after trying several apps, free and paid, this was perfect for me. I wasnt looking for anything fancy. The interface is easy to use, playlists repeat, and there is a sleep timer. Love this--worth every cent.

👉JUST SWITCH to 'GoneMAD Music Player'. Despite the awful name, it's the best I've found in a sea of poor choices to getting close to the look, feel, and customisation of what BlackPlayer used to be. It's not *quite* there yet, but messing with the options will get you 90% of the same layout and look. And, it's updated properly, unlike this once great app 😒

Used to be a five star review. Would be again if the app worked. Last few updates broke some features. I understand that google pushed the dev to update or be delisted. I understand changes to the way android works forced their hand. I kept using the app for a while, hoping for a fix that never came. Last word from dev was over 7 months ago. And today it just stopped working at all for me. Total crash when I try anything. Please fix... I've used it for over ten years.
