I once had a fitness tracker, since lost, that had a breathing exercise feature which was the only thing I missed about it. I've been searching for an app to replace it and Breathly is finally it! It's sleek and straightforward, while still being very attractive and customizable, and I find myself engaged seamlessly. Really beautiful, powerful app that I'll be getting highly acquainted with for all my pranayama needs.

Wonderful app comes with handy breathing exercises. Pleasantly simple, nice gentle guided voices and sounds. Perhaps, having a widget with preferred exercises, and being able to adjust breathing intervals in settings, especially for holding your breath would be useful. Also, reminders could be an option too. But it's a great app! 😴 🧘‍♂️

Near perfect. Only nitpicks is that I'd like to set the background and text colours myself as I like to meditate in complete darkness. The bell cue is very nice. It'd be a tiny bit better if we could pick other subtle sounds like a drop of water or a dull bass beat. But I think I'll be sticking with this app from now on :)

As a yoga teacher I wanted a simple app that kept time with ratio breathing, and functioned as a teaching tool, or recommendation. This app is beautifully easy on the eyes, calming, use friendly, simple and streamline. My six year old wanted to try it, and it was easy enough for him to follow. Later his dance teacher remarked on his improved concentration in class. Yesterday there was a fire in my building, and my son used the app again, it helped my son calm down in seconds. Thank you <3

This is an excellent subscription and advert free app. Thanks so much to the developer for providing. I'm using it with the peaceful sounding bell - I've not tried the voices. I like that you can set your own breathing patterns and adjust the timing of your practice and the timing of the built in patterns. I download very few apps and have never left a review before but the simplicity and effectiveness of this app compelled me. Thanks again.

Works very well and is simple to operate. Feel great after using it. I don't care much for the robotic female voice. Also it would be helpful to explain what the four numbers mean on each breathing zone page. It's name sounds like one of those neologisms Donald Trump is likely to coin. But these are minor things. I have a "Resperate" device which is a bit of a faff to use. But you can use Breathly pretty much anywhere. I like it very much.

Wonderful app with great UI and functionality but can definitely be improved. Like others have said, the four numbers are a little bit confusing as to what they could possibly mean. Also, I can only switch breathing techniques by swiping on the text, not anywhere else. I am even confused whether I have successfully changed the breathing technique because I'm mot sure if I should press "Back" or "Pick a technique", which looks clickable.

This app is just great!! The best I found so far. If there would be one thing that could be improved would be to have a visual countdown for each part (inhale, exhale, hold) separately, that way would be easier to manage the inhales and exhales, so for example I dont run out of air before the exhale part is over.

I suffer from high stress due to medical issues. Decided to use the app at least 5 times a day for 5 minutes. It's been 4 days so far. My breathing has become more controlled, and my chest has calmed down a lot from feeling tight and fuzzy. It's a really simple app that helps to do amazing things! You don't realise how much you need to utilise a breathing app until you try, and im so glad I came across this one. :)

It is exactly what I was looking for - simple design, the ability to create a custom breathing pattern or use preset ones. Last but not least, it doesn't require a bunch of questionable permissions for such kind of apps, internet connection, access to contacts, etc. It only requires reading and modifying the contents of the USB storage - presumably to store and read the custom configurations plus permission to control the vibrations. Awesome! Thank you for creating this app and making it free!

I really like the app. It looks clean and is easy to use, but there is just one minor thing that really annoys me. The app constantly keeps the screen awake, without giving me an option to deactivate that. I use the sleep exercises to fall asleep and then if I fall asleep during the exercise my phone is drained in the morning and won't wake me up anymore. Please give us an option to deactivate the forced active screen.

This really helps me, especially the deep calm breathing pattern. Fantastic if you are looking at the screen because it paces you when the inhale, hold and exhale have a different length (4,7,8) The vibrate on step change is also super useful if you can't look at the screen. The only thing I'd really love is a better visualization for when you are holding your breath, but that's a pretty minor quibble. It's great. Try it.

I love the breathing exercises in this app and I want to give it five stars but I personally can't take how bright it is. I use it at night in bed and it's so brightly colored it distracts me and disturbs my sleeping partner. The night mode seems perfect but it changes back to the bright screens when the excercises start. If only it would keep the soothing dark screen during all excercises it would be the perfect app. If you use this only during the day you will love it.

AMAZING APP EXCEPT! The final sound for the bell is way too loud and aversive and has scared me out of my meditation a couple times and now the anticipation of the final sound causes stress. It would be cool if the main bell is chimed 5 times quickly to indicate end of session. The main bell is a good bell. 2ndly, the haptic just stops when session ends and so there I am just holding my breath until I figure it out. Should also buzz 5 times quickly at end. This mode is great for the bus.

Simple app for mindful breathing. Exactly what I was looking for. Easy to change the breathing options. There are 4 numbers listed under the names of each option that I believe indicate the pattern of breathing in, holding breathing out, and holding. Also a nice description of each breathing pattern, if its more energising or relaxing. I also like the timer feature.

Great, reliable app. Customization of breathing techniques is an excellent addition. The auditory cues are good, but only indicate beginning of each step. It would be very helpful to have audible cues that relate to overall time for each step as well, especially for those who have vision difficulties - for example, a sound that builds in volume, tone, etc during each phase of the exercise. Thanks for a great app.

I'm so grateful to find a stress relief app that doesn't make me sign up for an account, or input my credit card/account info, or lead me though a bunch of pointless startup pages. It's simple and lovely and wonderful. The one thing that would make it better would be to have a darker background if you're using dark mode. At night/in bed, the light-colored background is jarring. Using color inversion on my phone helps, but that makes the app start page/the rest of my phone jarringly light.

Excellent app. Ad-free, simple, free. There are quite a few options in terms of lengths of inhale/hold/exhale. You can even set a custom one (something I didn't realize at first!). Things I would improve: The flower/mandala is nice, but hard to gauge. A simple loading bar style option would make it clear how many seconds are left. I found that with the standard 4-4-4-4 default, I wasn't exciting fast enough, so I quickly became out of sync. Hopefully part of my morning and night routine.

I used to use this app and it was my favorite. The auditory cues were the reason. I could let it play with eyes closed and just follow the cues rather than need to watch a bubble. The newest version doesn't play the audio cues for more than the first couple rounds. I was very happy using the bell - it even had different tones for inhale/exhale vs hold! Guess I'll go app shopping but I'm sad because this one was my favorite; it was beautifully simple and had all the essentials.

Fantastic app! The only thing missing is a vibrate setting for guided breathing so I don't disturb my wife while she sleeps. Maybe if the phone pulses once for in/out, twice for hold, the user can still keep track of the pattern without having to look at the phone or turn on the volume. Or maybe a high frequency pulse for breath in/out and a lower frequency for hold.
