Normally worked fine on iPhone, on the s20+ it doesn't work reliably, which is very important when it comes to school. Edit. Reliability is an under statement. It will just randomly choose to not let you see your assignments or grades tab for some classes, and after that happens it never fixes itself. Regardless of resetting the app, phone, or even re-downloading.

Great for looking and reading. Not super func. for completing assignments. Using the square button on phone shows all opened apps, canvas doesn't show up. I can't dbl tap square to go back to app. I have to go to home screen to open app again. At least its been opening where I left off. Links from inside app dont always work. TAs, professors, ect, announce & send links for multi. reasons, since schools closed, but I can't open them. I can on my PC and if I copy & paste on phone browser

As a student, I think it's a really good way to send in work, especially while remote learning. But, it is laggy and unless I'm submitting an image, it fails to load. Say I'm sending my teacher an image but can't because it doesn't load, and that's a huge problem. It doesn't load on my phone or school iPad, and I'm hoping it gets fixed soon. Regardless, it's a very well structured app and great for communication and easily submitting schoolwork.

I really enjoy this app when it's working. I had this issue start about 6 months ago; I open the app, it takes me back to the beginning of "find my school" and when I log in it gives me an error message saying "clear text not permitted". I close the app wipe the cache login again and it works fine for maybe a day or two if I'm lucky and restarts the process. Super annoying when I'm trying to check announcements or review an assignment when I'm not at home. Really hope they fix this issue soon.

Really simple and convenient! It's great👍 Updated Review 08/01/19: Lately the app has not been updating in real time. Like right now I have 2 assignments from 2 different courses that have been graded w/ feedback. I can view all of this on a web browser, but in the app it says that the grade is unavailable bc the instructor is still working on it. However, my overall course grade has changed even though individual assignment grades & feedback are not updating. Still a great app though :)

I use this for most of my course work and rely on it. However, there are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. The To Do widget does not show the actual To Do list. Notifications do not always change to show they have been read. (I currently have several notifications that will not go away.) Some discussion comments always will not change to be read. Syllabi and embedded videos do not always work, same with some hyperlinks.

Very helpful when you're in a rush and without your laptop. The website version is much easier to use and navigate. This app would be an easy 5 stars for me if there were push notifications for new grades, announcements, and assignments, and if the grades section had the option to be organized completely by assignment date rather than category.

Update 2: I'm now getting 3 notifications for every single grade, announcement, assignment, etc. Been happening for the past few months, really sucks. Update: No repeat notifications now, much happier now OG review: I keep getting multiple notifications for the same assignment (6 per). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and tweaked with the setting to not have so many notifications to no avail.

I would give it zero if I could. It has screwed up a couple of times but at the worst of times. One test the timer just stopped so I had no idea how long I had left on the quiz I was taking. And then during the FINAL EXAM it just wouldn't load the questions but started the timer. I got a zero on my final. And nothing could be done so I could retake it since for some reason on canvas supports end it showed I could see questions. Yet I have a photo that clearly shows I had NO questions. Thanks

Like everything else touched by Canvas, this app is rife with bugs and poor UI choices. I had a suspicion this would be the case when I downloaded it, but decided to give it a shot. Of course, however, none of the files in a certain course will actually load, so the app is worthless. I've had to work with Canvas as an instructor for four years and long for the day when I'll never have to interact with this awful platform again.

There's a bug where I can't select all of my classes on my calendar (I'm only taking 5 classes) and it SAYS that I can select up to 10 classes, but it limits me to only 4 classes. If that wasn't bad enough, it won't even SHOW anything on the calendar! I know for a fact that I have assignments due every week, but the app won't show ANYTHING! Not even my personal calendar. Why even have an app when it doesn't work HALF as good as the website? Also I can't copy and paste anything in the discussion. I like to have a backup of all my posts on a word online or Google docs file just in case something goes wrong. But I can't copy and paste into the app. This app is a waste of space. Uninstalled!

an overall great app if your school uses canvas. I do wish there were reminders for assignments that are due soon. also recently dark mode has been weird because highlighted text will be hard or impossible to read since the text is white with a light colored highlight. I've never had this problem until now so hopefully it's an easy fix

It's a great app. There are annoying bugs though. Thousands of the same notifications are sent blowing my phone (and sometimes, these notifications are inaccurate). Moverover, there seems to be a problem sometimes on how the home pages of courses are displayed. Is there even someone fixing these? It's been there for a while now... Additionally, they could have added great features like notifying/warning me of an approaching unsubmitted assignment that I may have forgot. None of that in this app

The app used to be good, but earlier this year they rolled out an update which made the description under the assignments unreadable unless I press switch to light mode. The widget is very useful, But if I get logged out, I have to reset the widget. There's also a recent bug where discussion posts do not show up at all and descriptions are cut off and do not show up at all. I'm on a pixel 6 pro. Also, if I click on an assignment in the to-do list from the widget, then exit I lose my spot.

Honestly, it's flimsy at best. I can see my assignments and grades, but submitting things like files, assignments, photos, etc is a pain. It either doesn't submit, or there's a failure. Overall this site is sucky, and in my opinion Schoology would be 10x more efficient. Update: I knocked my review down to 1 star. It takes over 10 times to submit ONE assignment file. This program sucks and has about the running capability as a legless turtle.

The app is very simple and easy to use. It's very simple and perfect for students to understand easily. However I do wish that they hadn't taken away the what-if score. That feature helped many students like myself to prioritize the work that would affect their grade the most. I know many students who would love for this feature to be an option again. Like myself of course.

Pretty decent mobile port, as long as you're an expert with the website, but I've gotta give one suggestion to the app that I wish so badly was a think. Of all of the push notifications you can turn on, there isn't one option that reminds you about an assignment when it's close to the set deadline. Why? They need to make this a thing... please.

The app is good. I have a suggestion for a huge improvement. I want to be able to set the time zone in app rather than it automatically update. Reason: I go to online school in a different zone. My assignments look like they have a due date of calendar date "X" and since I'm 2 hours ahead, it's really calendar date "x-1" and if I don't catch it I only have a couple hours to do any work.

Many features don't work at all depending on the institution using the platform (push notifications especially), and many features are badly implemented like daily/weekly summary via email, which will just dump all the text posts in a given specified timeframe into your inbox. Customization leaves a lot to be desired (just like the desktop) as simple things like notifications management is a multi step task.

Works better on the computer. Sometimes with the app, the calendar won't load at all, it's just a blank page. I'll close and restart and it continues. I checked for updates, there aren't any. Honestly, too, I think developing a notification system would be a good idea, notifying students when assignments are added or due. EDIT: This review is over a year old and the calendar issue is still a regular thing.
