CaptionCall and CaptionCall Mobile are available in the United States only. FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS ANYONE BUT REGISTERED USERS WITH HEARING LOSS FROM USING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) CAPTIONED TELEPHONES WITH THE CAPTIONS TURNED ON. IP captioned telephone service may use a live operator. The operator generates captions of what the other party to the call says. These captions are then sent to your phone. There is a cost for each minute of captions generated, paid from a federally administered fund. No costs are passed along to individuals who qualify for the service. This app has been a game-changer for me! I have severe to profound bilateral hearing loss and am deemed legally deaf and wear assistive devices on each ear. I have had terrible phone communication issues. I would have to ask the person to just text instead of calling me but it limited me on so many Personal levels and ended up handing my husband the phone to speak for me and would cry. Now its wonderful to call and be able to have the text of the voice on my full screen! Love this app💜thx!

I contacted clear caption because my Bluetooth hearing aids were not connecting to the app. I was told this was the next generation app and assured that it would work with Bluetooth devices. I downloaded the app signed up signed in got a phone number and I still can't hear through my hearing aids. I realize this is a caption phone but I do have some residual hearing and it's been official for me to be able to hear as well as Ree the captions

Having lost all hearing very quickly over 3 yrs ago left me scrambling to figure out effective means of communication. Have found a few good/solid apps to make calls, observe speech-text in person, etc., but find this Olelo app to be outstanding in just minutes of use. Having purposely called auto directories I am familiar with and frustrated by, this app relayed every bit of info 100%. Just very much appreciated and makes phone calls much more tolerable. THIS rocks!

AWESOME!! UPDATE lm 80yo in Ft Worth and this has been a God send. Don't sweat having to send ss number and dob, FCC requirement. They are legit AND customer service is FANTASTIC! Excellent app for hearing impaired. It's both sides of the conversation and you can save a transcript for later which really helps when you're trying to follow up on things. Also I had a request for a phone number change which was handled efficiently and quickly. Fantastic customer service. These guys are good!

The transcripts aren't done on the phone, you forward your calls to them and use their app to receive them. The end result is reduced call quality, small delays receiving audio and transcripts and missed calls. I haven't found a way to cancel the service yet and I feel I provided too much personal information to start it. I wish I hadn't tried it.

The app seems to work fine as long as you can answer the phone when a call comes in. Calling out has no problems but when a call comes in no matter what I do I cannot answer the phone and end up having to call the person back. Call forwarding and Caller ID is set up as per instructions. Could not resolve the problem in spite of contacting support. Had to install a different close caption app.

Originally I gave this 5 stars and the concept is brilliant. I still use it but I am getting frustrated because it has so many quirks. I click on one telephone number and it gets ready to dial another. It is often hard to disconnect because it forgets to show the Quit button. It has a LOT of trouble synching with my Outlook contacts. It will transcribe every voice at my end -- don't leave tv on or anyone live talking in the background. But it IS a brilliant idea

I'm a HOH person and this app has made it easierto use phone. Olelo is great as far as close captioning as its excellent speech recognition is able to recognize even speech with accents. Can't give app a 5 stars due to the following issues: 1. not as sophisticated as native phone dialer; 2. Doesn't recognize digital prompts ("press # if for xx ");3. Will not ring for incoming calls despite selected option. 4. Audio often too soft regardless max volume; 5. Lose audio and calls dropped.

I need this and am grateful for it. I could not have cell phone conversations without this app. I just wish it would ring on incoming calls, there's is little to no sound for that. Also has a few quirks that still need to be worked out, like the pausing of current call (no sound for either party) if another incoming call, etc. Hopefully this updated version will address some of these issues?

Been using it for 2 months now. The captioning is great, head and shoulders above the previous Caption Call app. Its also nice that it displays my real phone number to people I'm calling. The reason I only gave 3 stars is that it constantly loses the bluetooth connection to my hearing aids. I usually have to make a "test" call before making a real one because I don't know if I'll be connected. I usually have to reboot the app, my streamer, streamer app and sometimes the phone to get it working.

Great app for hearing impaired folks. I don't understand why a few very negative reviews. Maybe there were bugs and they fixed them when I tired this today 3/24/2021. It is very accurate. There is a little delay but great app. Even captures what my friend with thick accent was telling me on the phone. Can't wait to try during a work telecon when several folks can talk at the same time or others use speaker phone.

Misses mark. People can't hear me and the call keeps getting dropped or cutting out. Sometimes the transcript disappears, and I go to the app and it's not showing that I am still on a call, so I can't hang up or do anything. Force closing the app doesn't hang up. I have to restart my phone. 9/10 calls I have to end it and recall and it still doesn't work and keeps cutting out. When people call me it doesn't go to app even though it's the default app, so no option for transcript when needed then

Game changer for those who are hearing impaired. It finally lets my hearing impaired family be able to call & communicate with me, doctors, family/friends, and anyone else! Even something as simple as ordering a pizza was impossible before this app, but now they are able to communicate again! Plus, the captions are automatic, so you know there is no one listening in on your conversations. Captions are mostly accurate and very helpful!!

Captioning for the phone is great! Not 100% accurate but enough that I can figure out what is being said. One issue that I would love to address is that the App catches incoming calls and does not allow the phone to act. What this means is that when the phone rings, I have to find the App and open it. That is not so bad. What it also means is that the phone does not send the call to a connected device, such as my car or smartwatch. This is very inconvenient.

Olelo is amazing . Haven't been able to use the phone for almost 4 years now. Have tried other similar apps without success-missed calls, unintelligible transcripts, etc etc. After a week of use, Olelo has performed almost flawlessly for both outbound and inbound calls. Very very nice. Can't seem to get it to add directly to contacts, but that is a small matter to me.

The accuracy of the captioning AI for this app is amazingly accurate most of the time. It's been nearly 30 years since I can make a telephone call. The guide for setting up voicemail and call forwarding can be improved. I have never used voice mail or even the phone app before so I had short difficulties getting it set up for the first time. I would like see some UI improvements. Overall, Olelo is great for people like me.

On some calls, both local and long distance, the call starts out fine and then suddenly there is very loud static when the person on the other end speaks. There is only static and no voice at all. The captions still work though. This started happening after one of the upgrades. I don't remember which one... The updated version of the app keeps crashing and I get a message that the application has a bug. Please fix this ASAP. I rely the app. I was very happy with the previous version.

Cliff notes: I recommend this app if your hard of hearing. The app is going strong even under new ownership. 1.bMy main gripe on is none here.. a black theme! Much easier on the eyes in low light conditions. 2. Custom contact notes (phone numbers will display but it's hard for contacts with many numbers to be differentiated) is still an issue but i wonder if this is an Android limitation rather than a developer issue. 3. Issues with phone calls over Bluetooth are non existent now.

I find this app to be very helpful because I have a difficult time understanding people on the phone with my hearing loss. The app works great at translating people's voice into text at least 99% of the time. Sometimes it puts the wrong word in the text. But overall I like this app and would highly recommend it for people with hearing problems.

I can't begin to tell you how often this app has helped me with the phone calls that I would have otherwise hung up on. I do have one issue, however, and I hope it will be an easy fix. The majority of voice messages do not get captioned. In place of a captioned voice message, there's a message that states that it has been clipped (or something to that effect). I updated the app, but it's still not recording. Works fìne when I answer the phone, but not when a message is left.
