The game is a great game, but the Android version sucks. Specifically, the spacing for the controls are too far apart, especially on the directional pad. If you're not very precise when you try to push the buttons, it doesn't recognize your movements. I love the Castlevania series and Konami, but this Android version needs revised controls. Save your money and get it on a PS1 Emulator instead. They all have better controls than this. When Konami revised the controls, I'll re-rate it five stars.

Yes, the touch controls will feel clunky at first. Yes, you can ease into them and beat the game using touch controls, more easily than originally intended. The controls just "feel wide". Also: this is the PSP version, not PSX. Yes, the "new" voices are different. No, they don't "suck". Yes you can backdash trick death; no you can't shop glitch. Yes it's an amazing and faithful port; no, it's not perfect. If you want this game portably anywhere, yes, definitely buy it. (And also a controller.)

Full controller support is nice, but there needs to be a way to remap the controller inputs. I connected with my DualShock 4 controller with the Bluetooth, and it works perfectly in terms of response time, but I don't want square to be jump. It's not what I'm use to, and I don't want to get use to it. The PS1 version had the option to remap the controls. Why can't this?

Fair port. Remixed voices which is a shame. There is a save bug. Sometimes it takes using a save room twice for it to actually save the game. Closing the app and reopening will load the last room you were In, which is a cool feature on the go. However I lost a few hours of progress when I realized the autosave also failed me and I lost progress. So I reloaded my manual save to find that it didn't save either. Been messing with the save system since. Double save to be safe. Please fix this.

Awesome that you can play as Maria and Richter. Touch controls work as they should. No issues with this game on a Note 10+ or S20 Ultra. Battery doesn't drain quickly, and phone stays just barely warm. No lag, no stuttering or crashing. It works, it's SotN. Hopefully the Inverted castle is in this version? Just excited and happy to see this on Android.

I found new glitches, so it's not perfect. Voices and some sounds are different than the PS1. The game supports Xinput/Xbox gamepads, but there is no way to customize the controls and there is no in-game info on layout or special functions like hi-jump or mist form. I had to learn via Reddit. L is wolf, R is bat, L+R is mist. That's quite a crucial omission, as it's vital to the completion of the game. (Everything else is mapped like PS1.). Not my preferred way to play, but it's totally decent.

EDIT: I turned on battery saver mode and that fixed it. For context I'm playing on a Pixel 8 pro. TURN ON BATTERY SAVER MODE. I don't know what happened to this game, I used to play it all the time on my old phone and it ran perfectly fine. The onscreen controls were a little clunky but you got used to them. Started it up today while in a waiting room and it's like it's been sped up to 3x speed.

I REALLY want to love this game!!!! Please fix the controls or let me adjust them... I tried to get used to them, but the buttons are tiny and UNFORGIVING. Give me an adaptive joystick and the ability to change the button size. This game is already tough (which is why I LOVED it in the 90s) but the controls will make it impossible. Please address this issue and I will pay $50 to play it again. Refund and uninstall... so tragic. Update: that review was harsh. The controls are 1 star, game is 5.

This game has been, and always will be fantastic regardless of system you play it on. The touchscreen controls do take some getting used to, but it is easily doable! I do have one issue however, Richter mode is broken. In Richter mode you are supposed to be able to walk right past the throne room (you know, since you are Richter and you can't fight yourself), but this game still makes you fight Richter making the inverted castle innacessable. Please fix this, it works fine in Maria mode! Thanks

Used to play on a Galaxy S9 and everything ran great. Upgraded to an S23 and all of the sudden the game is WAY too fast. Everything on screen happens at about twice the normal speed, gameplay and dialogue. Gameplay is an issue because jumping feels like I have lead feet, I have to make perfect jumps for even the most basic platforming otherwise I drop like a brick and have to redo everything. I don't see a setting to alter game speed, so I have no idea how to fix this.

I was very happy to see sotn ported to Android. This is one of my all-time favorite games. Then I tried to play it. Started out with minor problems like occasionally nothing happened when I tried to attack. Maybe it's me? Then it got worse, and jumping didn't work. I hit the center of the jump button 3 times and nothing happened 🤨. Now, I get to the clock and the internal timer isn't working. The clock is stuck. Clock fix: Save and load your game. Do not use continue, as it breaks the clock.

Great game but minus one star for not being able to map the spell button to a controller input. Would be an absolute 5 star app if the controller was mappable. If the one button spell could be mapped to a controller this really would be perfect. My old hands aren't as nimble as they used to be and I have trouble doing the spell inputs. Update: I've been really enjoying it. Gonna go ahead and give 5 stars.

The port of the game, only the game, is good. But it lacks some options like on-screen control configuration and switching to the original PS1 dub/voice. Those two features alone can make or break the game for the player. Missed oportunity, konami. Also, play this with a controller. (If it works, haven't tested it yet)

Runs flawlessly on both my tablet and phone. The only problem that I have is a personal one, that is that I absolutely hate touch controls. There have been many times that I have been hit or killed because I'm pushing just SLIGHTLY off of the attack or jump buttons. Easily fixed by pairing my controller, which has full support on this game. At a few bucks or so, this is an absolute (soul) steal!

This is not the Sega Saturn original version, this is the fixed secret glitches to get to the two secret save rooms and the two hidden rooms version of the game. To think the jewel sword is behind the first hidden room, I forgot what was in the inverted castle second room, that sucks, bummer, why are they even there, if they make it impossible to get to them, but you get to play Castlevania:Symphony of the Night, Muramasa still levels up, I can give solice to that. Thanks for the game.

Never played this classic and sadly mobile is my only option. Touch controls are terrible. Jump button seldom recognizes when it's pressed is the main thing but all in all they are just not good. I play dead cells with touch controls and while not perfect they are waaaay better than this. If you don't have a controller I wouldn't waste your time.

Note, I played this with a PS4 controller (XBox Elite 2 is also fine). Game is excellent. All of the music, graphics that I recall playing on the original PS1 all those years ago. Originally played on Pixel 1, just fired it up on Pixel 9 Pro - works fine, no speedup. The port is very well done. Do NOT play with On screen controls - they're TERRIBLE. Make sure you have low latency BT controller. This is one of the original Metroidvanias, and worth a play.

This is a great game but unless the the problem with the mist transformation is fixed everybody should leave it alone because you can only go so far and then your stuck not even halfway through. I wasted days playing it really getting into it just to get stuck. Until this is fixed this is rip-off and it should be avoided. If the problem is fixed I will immediately update.

amazing game, hands down best Port of a Mobile Version of a Castlevania Or Metroidvania style game I have Ever seen. I've played the PS1 and PSP ports and I ONLY got this Just so That I could try and Own it. There are a few Things of course and I wish you could Edit the controls and Make them Slightly more invisible as I feel they take up most of the screen and Maybe be able to make some Buttons a Bit bigger and Change Position. however It is Still an Amazing game 4/5 For those reasons alone.

Clock Tower bugged. Got double jump and farmed enough to buy the higher end gear from the Library, but when going back to the clock tower to enter the Coliseum, the left statue is bugged and doesn't tick with the in-game clock. Can't progress any further until this bug is fixed. It's been two years and this seemingly minor bug has not been fixed. What a waste of time.
