Another garbage app from Paramount. I only downloaded it to watch new Survivor. Using the free episodes function, I need to watch episodes within a few weeks because they get locked out after a while. They play ads, which are tolerable in length. My problem is the app's inability to retain the spot in a show I've begun. Can't close the app mid-episode without having to start from the beginning. Even though I've already watched the ad-breaks, the same breaks are forced. Greed FTW!

I have tried to play the free episodes on the CBS app and it's NEVER WORKING. Many times you start the episode and it finishes the commercial before the episode starts and then repeats the commercial again and again. I un-install the app. Then re-install the app every time this happens. I have tried 2 weeks ago. 3 weeks ago the same thing and again today. PLEASE FIX YOUR APP. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s10. This is not an old phone or outdated. Every other TV app works great. So disappointed.

Nvidia Shield owner. This app? Garbage. As others have mentioned repeatedly, buffering issues are annoying as hell. So is being asked to sign-in to tv provider again, and again, and again, and again unlike well designed apps that have you sign in once when you install and then remember that you have done so moving forward. It's also ridiculous to be interrupted by a pop-up and asked if I'm still watching during the middle of the 3rd quarter of a football game that I've been watching from the opening kickoff. Amateurish.

Too many advertisements in a special I'm watching. 4 or 5 ads 5 times already, and I'm not even halfway through this 1.2 hr special yet. And after the last set of ads a second ago, an error occurred within the show, and closed. So, now I have to go back and find where I last was, and restart. Go through another set of ads. That's 8-10! First ever show I watched on your app and this already happened. Hope it's not a sign of things to come. Please improve.

This app made me upload the latest version before it would let me stream any shows. The latest version is horrible. The voice and the picture do not match. But worse than that, I get, at most, 30 seconds of show and 40 seconds of buffering. Sometimes I only get 8 seconds of show and 15 seconds of buffering. I have tried and tried. I can't watch a show like this. It didn't do this before the upgrade to fix the problems that I wasn't having. This is the very worse network app I have ever used.

This app is the most annoying thing on my phone. I CAN NOT understand how or why a billion dollar media company can't seem to make a functional app. Especially when everyone else does. I can watch anything on any of the other network apps without issues. This thing buffers constantly. It freezes up. Then you have to start over and watch 9000 commercials to get back where you were.

I would rather give a -5, but it isn't an option. I've been trying for a week to watch the Oprah special with Harry and Meghan. It crashes every single time. I watch 5 minutes of ads, 4 minutes of interview, and BOOM. Error, please try again later. I sent an email for support a week ago. Thank you for promptly responding. Oh wait. They didn't. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. I've managed 25 mins with at least 4x as many ads due to having to restart the app and watch ads just to skip to the stop point.

Update: Feb 2024 this app is still TERRIBLE!! I've uninstalled it several times. Still won't play ANYTHING on the Roku app. If your updates are only for the phone you should make that clear. This app is TERRIBLE!!!!! It only works on the phone. It won't stream from another streaming device. I submitted a help ticket and was told to uninstall and re-install. I have done this several times and it still will not load any programs. The live TV function doesn't work either.

Despite great content, the app is a streaming nightmare. There's an extreme disconnect when transitioning from ads to programming and vice versa. It freezes a lot despite having a very strong connection (all other streaming apps work fine), and I'm often forced to close and reopen the app to get it to work again only to be forced to watch the same ads that already played. An hour long show may take me an hour and a half to watch. I dread when I get behind on a show and have to use this app.

I have tried three different installs of this app. The streaming is awful. It buffers almost every ten seconds, so that a single sentence is not discernable, and continues until the app gives up and the message pops up that an error has occurred and the video cannot be shown. It directs to CBS for help, which is nothing but a list of troubleshooting articles, none of which answer the problem. And, before you ask...if you think it might be better to view thru Paramount+, there is no better.

You have a good choice of action drama movies. But I can't watch them because the commercials freeze up till they kick a error message. When a error message kicks up, it starts the movie back at the beginning. When I get to the second set of Comericals it kicks the error that starts the movie over again. That and the same Comericals over and over again is so damn anoying. The movie plays fine but the Comericals freeze and kick a error, so I never get to see the last half of the movie. Fix it!!!

What a complete piece of junk. It doesn't remember where you left off in a show. That's a problem in itself. But that also means when you scrub forward to find where you left off, it forces you to watch 5 commercials. And then if that's not the right spot and you scrub ahead again, 5 more commercials. Once I found where I left off, I tried using chromecast and it would say no media selected. I tried discinnecting and reconnecting several times. This app is awful. I won't be subscribing.

My favorite part of this app is the cancerous amount of ads you have to watch with video. 30 sec when opening a video, then 2 min of ads to skip to where I left off the last time. When I clicked to Chromecast, it moved itself 5 min ahead. I had to skip backwards, which caused another 2 min of ads. This skip just so happened to be 30 sec from a commercial break, and CBS so thoughtfully offered me another 2 min of ads. So at this point I've seen 30 sec of show and 6 min of ads. Thanks CBS!

Ten commercial breaks in an 85 minute program. Lag and sometimes crashes, after which it didn't remember where I was, so I had to watch a commercial, tap to very roughly where I thought I'd been (because while casting it wouldn't go horizontal, so the scroll bar was tiny), more commercials, then get to resume. It took me two and a half hours to watch that 85 minute program. I stream stuff by casting all the time with nary a blip. Uninstall.

Use to be a great app, before it started freezing during every commercial. Now I have to stop and restart it each time, watching every ad again to get back to my place in the show. Offering a trouble shooting site isn't helpful, as the issue isn't on my end, as countless people have complained about the same issue. The problem is the app, so fix things on your end instead of trying to blame the users!!

9/3/21 I appreciate that the app is free and I can still watch my shows anytime without paying. (Hence the 2 stars instead of 1.) However, it crashes all the time and I have to constantly reload it multiple times during the episode. Very very frustrating! ***Update*** 8/26/23 It's 2 years later, app still sucks and has the same exact problems! I don't care how many "updates" they do, nothing changes. Still won't smartcast worth a damn. App still crashes, buffers & won't load 90% of the time!👎

Ads always freeze. If you have to stop watching, including when ads freeze,, you can't just pick up where you left off. You have to try to remember where you were. Scroll back. Watch 4 more ads hoping if won't freeze again. You get back to it. Ads come back, freeze again. Sooooo frustrating. Service is all bars, and even happens on wifi. It's taken me 3 days to and watch a 90 min program. After I finally finishing, deleting the app. If this is how Paramount+ operates, I'm def not subscribing.

For the past 2 days, the CBS App continuously closes out when I attempt to open it on my Android cellphone. Yesterday, after it repeatedly closed out, I cleared the cache, and after that didn't work, I uninstalled, and then reinstalled. After numerous attempts, it finally opened. Now, today, it is back to not opening. Please fix this annoying issue as soon as possible.

I used to love watching shows on this App, but there must have been an update recently. Because now, when I open the App, all I get is a blank screen that only shows the CBS logo mid screen. But, nothing else ever loads. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times with no improvement. Update: Finally, after the 4th uninstall and reinstall, I got it working on my android phone again.

Terrible app. Constantly buffers, freezes and crashes on my Google TV. The are you still watching prompt pops up and then exits your show in seconds, not giving you enough time to select yes. The most recent version doesn't show up in the listed apps on the TV even though I can see it in the apps list under settings. The new sign in with provider signs you in automatically with the account signed in on your TV but doesn't give you the option to sign in with a different account.
