CAN I PLEASE GET A BLACK SIDE ONLY MODE IN MULTIPLAYER? I NEED IT FOR PRACTICING FRENCH DEFENSE. There's no practice mode where you control both sides but there's multiplayer using 1 phone which is practically the same thing but you are getting the wrong perspective here, chess isn't about just playing the game. Like any other sport, you practice most of the time. YOU ALSO NEED PRACTICE MODE WHERE YOU CAN PUT THE PIECES ANYWHERE. For chess puzzles, recreate last compet game...

i really like this for pass and play. i think my biggest gripe is a relative lack of time control options. Id like to see options for 5, 3, and 1 minute controls, along with 1 second incriment options. A wishlist item for me would be an option for Chess 960/Fischer Random, even if only in local mp mode. another dream feature wouls be a veey limited opening encyclopedia (2-3 moves deep) similar to your Checkers app. overall, very happy with my purchase

It's chess. Easiily adjusts to your skill level from beginner to grand master so you can always find a challenge level thats fun for you. Cheap to buy. No nonsense. No popup ads. No subscription. What more could you want?

Multiplayer online last undo is essential. Often a move is by accident. And instead of the massive "chess" on top, I presume most players have that iq to know that this is what they are playing, why not a simple chat interface, at least with some standard words, like "well done" or alike. Otherwise I love it, I went for the paid version as it's just good.

Great software, definitely worth the price. One tiny request: if you guys could make the pieces slide slowly when reviewing a game, it'd be a nice touch. As it is, the pieces just "snap" or "teleport" to their new square in review mode. Sliding pieces - just like what you have when you're playing - would make it easier to review games. Thanks

Great for playing computer. I love that they added names of opening moves made. Keep that stuff up. What I don't like is, whenever you play another human and they start to lose or get stumped, they just pause the game and never come back instead of resigning or officially abandoning match. Drives me bonkers. No way to communicate with them, and no time limit that I know of.

Thus app plays faultless chess for about 10 to 20 moves, often gaining an equal or winning position, but then to "simulate human error" it frequently blunders away the queen or a rook in a way that no human would do. This makes it pointless to play as you gain nothing from playing an opponent who you know will hang a major piece in a painfully obvious way if you can just hold out until the early middlegame.

Very good quality. Lowest levels are quite weak so even a beginner has some hope of winning. Highest levels are close to a chess master. I've been using the paid version for a year and a half. I play a couple of games per day against the computer. Well worth the price. Small suggestion: Save games automatically. When stats are reset, give an option to also delete all saved games. I sometimes regret not saving, and deleting a whole bunch of games is a bit tedious.

I've used Chess Pro to play quick games for years. It has lots of options like piece sets, boards and backgrounds, saving games, copying games to clipboard to analyze in other programs. It plays with a very human-like style. It's well worth the money to remove the ads.

The paid version is well worth it, smooth play, I like the AI, the piece and board customization is crisp and multiplayer is a welcome change of pace from rated online games. My one complaint is that you cannot offer a draw to a human opponent on online multiplayer. Also, it would be cool if players could be paired based on their ratings against the CPU or if it would at least display CPU rating or wins and losses against human opponents.

Overall a fantastic chess app. Snappy, lovely graphics, lots of customisation options with regards to the board, pieces etc. Great to practice my rusty skills on, and great to review the game to see where my (many) mistakes are. The multiplayer is open to some abuse, though. Players can pause a game for an infinite amount of time, to possibly check an online assistant, or to literally find a way of quitting without actually resigning. I would love a clock option to remove most of this abuse.

A good chess app. But, no timers on 2 player mode, no premoves.

Just what I wanted. Have not played in decades, nice to have tutor to show me all the mistakes I make lol. Played free a bit then bought it. Wish the hint/analyse button was on main screen so you didn't always have to go to menu first. I love the one fixed price, hate these games that say $1.99 to $25 per item. Nope, not even taking the chance on you. Summary. Good chess game Good tutor Good graphics etc. Support Good developers and buy it.

While I love the game (this is why I got the paid version), the multiplayer part is a total disappointment. It lacks the necessary functionality to make it useful. 1. Chat is not existent. 2. Proposing remi surrender etc. is not existent. 3. There are no time limits, which allows many players to avoid losing the game by simply abandoning it. As stupid such behaviour sounds, it is surprisingly prevalent. 4. There is no ranking of the players, and it is not possible to choose the ELO rating of your opponents. This leads to playing mostly with very inexperienced players (basic statistic), but I do not think such uneven matches are enjoyable for neither of the sides. 5. No basic statistic, like games, played, wins, loses, timeouts. The ranking is not at all implemented. As a start ELO ranking, I think the PRO mode can be used as some type of base for comparison.

The timer function is rather useless. What helps me to claim "win" when there are no statistics, and poor players are same irresponsible with timer or no timer. And it adds fragmentation to finding opponents, only those with same timer timer setting are probably matched. I just know now how long the opponent is idle, otherwise it's a bad design.

This game is really getting on my nerves. The AI is all over the place. I was on level 3 and had a 40% win rate. I went up to level 4 and it was super challenging but I started to get better and began racking up wins. It asked me if I wanted to move up but I decided to stay at 4 cuz I would still lose if I wasn't patient and playing smart. Then all of a sudden, it spiked in difficulty and just began crushing me over and over. Now I can barely get a win. It's infuriating how inconsistent it is.

Good app, but not for the casual player. If you're an average chess player just looking for an app to kill time and play a casual/untimed game against a CPU, this ain't it chief... There are 12 computer levels and maybe the first 3 (maybe 4) are winnable for the average player. That means you're gonna get dunked on by 80% of the game. Just rotating between 3 levels gets boring and the skill gap (to me) increases too much with increasing levels.

I love the app, but it would be great if the online multi-player had some kind of maximum time limit between moves. I'm currently in an active game where the opponent could tell he was losing, so he just paused the game and left. I have check mate in 1, but he hasn't made a move in over 12 hours so I can't play it and win. Clearly he's hoping that I'll abandon the game and his loss won't be recorded. Instead I guess I'll just leave it on pause forever, hoping he comes back.

For the price, the developer has done excellent job!!! Having said that, here are a few things that I want (not demanding). Configurable UI. I don't need to see big "Chess" text on top. (I know that I am playing chess..) I want more menu buttons (I always get computer's help and I have to press two buttons for that!) I don't want my captured pieces covered with text during the game or after the game for analysis. When I review the game, those steps buttons are on the left, I want to move right.
