More About Classic Sudoku

Presented by Cracking The Cryptic, the most popular Sudoku channel, this is the brand new “Classic Sudoku” game that their viewers have been requesting for the last two years!
Simon Anthony and Mark Goodliffe, the hosts of Cracking The Cryptic, have assembled a most extraordinary collection of sudoku puzzles. The sudokus in the game cover a wide range of difficulty with something for everyone - and also require an incredible range of techniques to solve them efficiently! Each of these special puzzles had to qualify for inclusion in the game by passing our rigorous play-testing - a test that NO other sudoku game on the market would pass. This play-testing ensures that a human being has actually thought about the journey you, the solver, will go on as you work through the puzzle. No computer testing here!

Indeed our more advanced puzzles have been carefully designed to showcase some of the diabolical techniques in an intuitive way with the aim of helping solvers UNDERSTAND the patterns involved.

In Cracking The Cryptic’s games, players start with zero stars and earn stars by solving puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the more stars you earn and the more puzzles you get to play. Only the most dedicated (and cleverest) sudoku players will finish all the puzzles!

Featured authors include (obviously) Simon and Mark but also some other authors who have produced popular puzzles on the channel!

Mark and Simon have both represented the UK many times in the World Sudoku Championship and you can find more of their puzzles (and lots of others) on the internet’s biggest sudoku channel, Cracking The Cryptic.

Features:
40 beautiful puzzles on launch
5 new levels every month for the first year (a total of 100 levels!)
Hints written by Mark and Simon!

This is such a good app if you enjoy sudoku. Most of the puzzles are pretty hard but they're a lot better than most of the auto-generated puzzles you'll find from other apps. The interface works great, is decently intuitive, and allows you to do a lot more extensive note-taking than some other apps.

I just finished puzzle #100. This is by far the best Sudoku app I've played. I didn't think I would notice a difference between hand crafted and computer generated puzzles, but after playing many different Sudoku apps I've found that this set of hand crafted puzzles are more fun, more challenging, and are also helpful with learning new techniques. I didn't really know how to solve harder Sudoku puzzles before this app. Now I've just completed puzzle #100 without hints.

It's a very good sudoku app, the hand made puzzles are most interesting, and the hints teach you advanced moves. Coming from the YouTube channel I was a bit disappointed, although it's obvious in hindsight, that these are only classic sudoku puzzles, not the interesting variants from the YouTube videos. Still, love it. It spoils you for other sudoku apps which generate their puzzles using simple algorithms.

This is the best sudoku app ive played. So much so that i was a little sad when i finished all the puzzles. Aside from adding more puzzles, to add replay value, maybe adding a stat screen or bar for average time taken to solve puzzles, or a hi-score leaderboard type screen to see the top times on a puzzle.. or maybe even indicating in some way which puzzles/solve times a hint was used. Great app, keep up the great work

Excellent app with amazing selection of curated puzzles with tips that help me become a better Sudoku player. If you want to get better at Sudoku, this is definitely worth the money compared to all of the free apps that are out there. My one complaint is that the hints take up the full screen with giant text, so I can't look at the board while I'm reading the hint so I need to keep switching back and forth.

Great job guys, this is the best sudoku app out there. Easily worth the $5. Tons of options for marking and penciling cells. And best of all, the puzzles are all actually good, like the ones on CtC's YouTube channel. Not completely randomized, tedious puzzles like I've had to crawl through in the other free apps. This Unity game does really chew through battery, though. I reduced my screen refresh rate settings in my phone's gaming settings for this app, which helped a ton.

It might be an issue on my end, but is there no sound in the app? There is no sound options in the settings menu and so far I can't hear any clicks or taps when I select something. Tbh it drives me crazy because I have to keep doublechecking everything I do, because there's no sound, no response to my selections.

This app makes playing a joy! The ability to color squares and use center positions are a revelation. Some of the puzzles are truly challenging (and some are beyond my current level). They are much different than the computer-generated ones in other apps. I didn't realize there were hints initially, which is possibly my only complaint, but they're great! Having them done by a human is amazing. Even if you have no idea who Simon and Mark are (and they are awe-inspiring), this is worth getting. 5☆

The puzzles are very enjoyable and the hints keep you from grinding to a halt without giving away the entire puzzle at once. My only complaint is that the compact interface makes it very easy to click the wrong thing by accident. For instance, on the very last puzzle (#100) while attempting trying to jump from Coloring Mode to highlighting all the digits in the grid for that # I accidentally entered the number into the box which turned out to be correct. In doing so I gave away the entire solve.

The best sudoku app I've had the pleasure of playing. Clean, customizable gameplay. Beautifully crafted and fiendishly difficult puzzles (but always solvable without guessing). Great replayability - I come back and re-solve puzzles for time every month or so. It's always a fun challenge! A couple of criticisms. First, the app really drains your battery. Second, some of the puzzle difficulties are off. In particular, puzzle 11 is way harder than 4 stars! I'd probably rate it a 9 star.

This is easily the best Sudoku app I have tried. While it may only have 100 puzzles, the puzzles are high quality, challenging, and satisfying. The tools available to annotate the board are also the most diverse and useful set I've used. I also have two recommendations to make the app better. Firstly, the ability to favorite puzzles to find them again easily. Second, make the pop up tips at the end of some puzzles viewable permanently after solving once.

This is a great app from a great team. I've enjoyed the challenging hand crafted puzzles. The only thing really preventing this from being a 5* review is the lack of a true dark mode and the amount of battery it seems to be eating up when I play (maybe those are related). Other than that, I recommend people buy this. It's worth the money. Oh yeah...I would like a layout for landscape/tablets and a way to mark completed puzzles that were tough to replay later. Those aren't impacting my review.

This is the Sodoku app I've been waiting for. It's the only one that allows both corner and center notes for advanced marking. The puzzles it comes with are all hand created which means there are some methods needed to solve them you'd never see in the usual symmetrical computer generated ones. This also means there hints that pertain specifically to the puzzle you're working on. I've only done the first one so far and want to go back and try it again since I'm pretty sure there were some obvious things I missed that would have sped things up. I do wish one could enter puzzles manually as there are some really good ones out there. Perhaps this will be considered for a future update. With 5 new ones a month though, I suspect I'll have plenty to keep me busy for a good while. Finally, this app does allow itself to be moved to an SD card so kudos for that.

This is a very good sudoku app, the reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because it only has three highlighting colors available as opposed to nine. I was looking forward to using the highlighting that I've seen on Cracking the Cryptic to help me learn the internal logic of sudoku better, but with only three colors that's not possible unfortunately. Right now I have to pencil mark basically every number that I can't find by scanning, and that gets messy.

I have a true appreciation for the creators of these puzzles. The puzzles are challenging and stunning. I learned several solving techniques I didn't know before. I originally rated the app as a 3 star. They had typos in a few hints, but they fixed the levels I mentioned. Great support, nothing more I could ask. Highly Recommend!

Really nice challenging Sudoku you don't find elsewher. Hints are very educational. Sometimes, they do describe situations I already figured out, though. I wish it could solve hint the next step like another one of my Sudoku apps does, or at least a way to export it as a string so I can import it to an online tool. Also, I hate how it hides my bottom buttons to switch to home. This is the puzzle app I reach for when I'm bored, and will probably to continue to be. Interface is very solid, imo

Puzzles are great and there are tons of them. The hints are good and well written if you are stuck on the beginning of a puzzle but not so much towards the middle/end. The UI is pretty terrible in many ways- I don't mind that it's not pretty, but it feels clunky too. The app also drains my battery pretty fast (why does a sudoku game need to run on unity?)

I find myself struggling a bit with some of the early puzzles; having to diligently search for that one naked single or pair that I've missed to progress. Not sure if that's intended to force us to practice scanning or if I'm too thick to be lead through the solve. :) Definitely more satisfying to complete than computer generated puzzles.

Best sudoku app I've been able to find on the play store so far. The puzzles themselves are great + the UI is amazing. The app contains a ton of useful features for marking and notes that are easy to find and use (minimal navigation required to switch back and forth between number entry and the numerous different notes / marking options). The color palette can be customized. I really like how when you tap on a numbered cell the UI highlights the rows, columns, and other instances of that number.

The ONLY sodoku app I have found that allows both corner notes and center notes. For that reason alone, it is the best Sudoku app on this platform. Because of that, I am begging the creators to allow us to enter puzzles from other apps. An amazing function would be to be able to take a picture of a puzzle and have it entered into their platform. But at the very least they should allow us to enter other puzzles onto their platform and work them. Thank you all so much for such an amazing app.
