Not only does this app need dark mode, but it needs to suppress screen timeout. I thought changing my phone's settings would fix this, and it does not!! It STILL times out every 30 seconds, regardless of what settings I change on my phone! Pages don't turn easily, and I keep accidentally highlighting things while trying to turn pages and can't undo that easily. These issues are making it hard to focus on my reading. That's counterproductive for a reading app!

I've only used the app to play audio books, so I don't know how good it is for ebooks. The audio book keeps playing in the background when notifications arrive, so you'll miss part of the book while notifications are played. The task bar player lacks a play button, so when you pause playing an audio book, you won't be able to resume it without opening the full app. The car mode crashes frequently, and there are no buttons for fast forwarding or rewinding; you can only skip an entire chapter.

My library dropped Libby and switched to Cloud Library. I don't understand how this app has a 4.6 rating. It takes forever to load anything, and frankly does not even have the books that I want. I want to listen to audio books, but it seems to have mostly ebooks. I never had a problem finding something to listen to on Libby, now I can barely even search for a book because it's so slow, much less actually find anything interesting.

I constantly have to reinstall because the search function quits working, or my library of checked out books disappears. And then it's a 50/50 chance that it will recognize my library card. I get "nested exception io.netty.handler.timeout. ReadTimeoutException" as an error regularly. All I want to do is read chick-lit and forget about the world but this app is so frustrating!

Now, what is going on with the app? Six of my saved titles appeared in my holds list. I did not put them on hold. They were saved. Thus, I had 26 titles on hold. My library only allows 20. An hour and a half later, I know have zero holds. They all disappeared 😭 I updated the app today. Not only did I have to log back in, but I now need to download all of the books that were previously downloaded on my phone. This is a huge inconvenience because I am currently traveling and have no wifi.

Why isn't there a notification when the audiobook you're listening to is about to be returned?? Seems like a pretty basic feature. The only notifications are when a book on hold is ready. Because I didn't use the app for 3 days, I missed the renewal window and now there's a 6 month wait before the book I was listening to is available again. At least it doesn't crash for me all the time like it used to...

Perfect! If I could give it 10 stars I would!!! Simple setup, just use my library card and suddenly I have an entire library, especially audio books, instantly! No need for holds and items almost always available! Also bookmarks, options to make notes while listening and a sleep timer! I know similar apps and options have been around for years but this app is perfect for those, like me, slow to catch on!

App has trouble finding books/authors using the search function. One day the book will show up when searching, the next day it just spins and spins until it times out or says the material can't be found. App is also inconsistent with saved lists. It takes a really long time to load them, and when it does finally load, sometimes all the saved books show up, sometimes only a few of them show up, and other times the books show up multiple times. It's very finicky and unreliable.

I'm giving 2 stars because it was great for a very long while aside from long wait times, but I stopped receiving notifications, and haven't listened to anything in weeks as a result. I listen to audiobooks and do not have the interest in checking the app every day for 21 days for the books I'd like to listen to. I have notifications on in the app. Please fix this.

it's functional. Greatly b prefer Libby for audio books ....it's a bit quirky with bookmarks (too many keystrokes set a bookmark) , knowing what chapters vs. just recorded sections you are on, and rewinding if you happen to be at a new chapter and want to rewind to the last section of the prior chapter. it works. could use upgrading.

Update - it has become increasingly difficult to use, app has challenges reaching server. It'll be timed out trying to load and never go anywhere. I'm in uninstalled reinstalled, tried every troubleshooting item suggested. Incredibly frustrating when I can't listen to a book that I've been listening to, when I want to listen.

Superb app and completely necessary for every reader. I believe libraries are essential to our communities and I also do not purchase physical copies of fiction, which makes up 90% of my reading. Cloud library lets you borrow books electronically and return them easily. searching and reading are easy as pie. I recommend having a dictionary app so any unknown words can be defined in a single tap while you read. Five stars all day.

Haven't really analyzed the app but I do have an idea. When you finish a book, there should be some sort of recommendation of similar books based on your favorite genre like those streaming services or wiki. So you can go down an intellectual rabbit hole. Only other problem is when you back out the app then go back in after a period of inactivity, it crashes. Not annoying but I suppose something to mention incase an update is released.

I really loved this app. I use Libby, but the availability with my local library was better. All of a sudden I can't search for anything... it just spins and spins. Even the homepage is constantly loading titles. I uninstalled and reinstalled and have the same result. Is anyone going to address this issue? I see others having the same problem in these reviews.

Often, the app glitches when I try to view the homepage. If I click "trending audiobooks" it will bring up a blank, white page. I have the same issue when using the "search" option sometimes. It will say nothing is available. After I restart theapp, it's there. Also, I would love to see how long I've read/listened for the day. We have reading challenges in our area for kids and adults, and while we speed up the narration, I'd like to see how much ACTUAL time has been spent reading/listening.

Good selection of titles but titles are removed without notice. That is frustrating. Hold system is confusing. All of my saved titles will say available in X days, then they all reset to X days. How are they all unavailable for the same number of days? Place in audiobook gets lost sometimes and restarts to a prior listening time. Good luck going back and listening to chapters again to find the spot you left off at. Also does not tell you what percentage you're at in audiobook.

2nd edit: Seems I'm now having the problem many are where the app does not connect. Icons just spin around and around and tells you books can't be downloaded. edit: Thanks for at least making a dark mode while reading and for making the orientation fixed. Much better to read under the covers/in a sleeping bag. Please please please please please please please make a dark mode. Also can you make it so the app doesn't change the orientation of the book when you change the orientation of the phone.

Not worth the time to download this app, not matter how many times ive uninstalled and reinstall it. Unless your interested in looking at the books they offer on the home page, fat chance if your going to find the one book you want through the search engine in the app. It never loads anything, no matter the word or words used in the search. It just keeps loading or comes back with no results. Whats the point of having a library app if it doesnt pull up any books in the search.

The audiobook player is garbage. Seek doesn't work across chapter boundaries. Using the chapter menu to change the current chapter, often restarts the entire book and then crashes the player, requiring a "force stop" and restart to begin playing again. (And then you have to figure out where you were). Also, the seek forward and seek backwards controls are different times, i.e. seek back is 10 seconds but seek forward is 30 seconds. Whoever designed this app was probably using drugs at the time.

Love the choices! I'm listening to my first book now. I don't like that you have to select the time on the timer each and every time, and end of chapter isn't an option on audiobooks. Back and forward slider takes me too far either way. I can't return to a bookmark, touching bookmark creates a new bookmark. Also, from full speed to 80% isn't adequate, 80 % is too slow. I often prefer 90 to 95% speed of reading.
