Soooo hears the thing. If it wasn't for this specific issue I'd have no issues giving 5 stars. However I've been dealing with this issue of anytime I'm watching offline downloaded episodes, after just a few minutes my phone will completely restart and it doesn't do this at any point in time with any other app or at all. It has only happened in that scenario.

I've been using Crunchyroll on and off over the last few years, often switching between the free and paid memberships. Crunchyroll has a great selection of anime so when I heard that there had been a major redesign, I was hoping that many of the problems I had in the past would have been fixed. Unfortunately, the main problem remains; the app repeatedly crashes due to not being able to connect to the servers. Sometimes it resumes without any more issues, other times it continues to crash.

I got the premium subscription, which is supposed to come with a yearly swag box, but no one ever got my address. Kinda feels like a lightweight scam. good content though. Update: The app on my phone is constantly saying that the English dubbed versions are available, but the app on my Roku TV doesn't have the English available. I wouldn't mind so much if this app would connect to my TV as easily as youtube does, but it doesn't. Really hoping one of these two glaring issues is resolved soon.

Super disappointed in all of the user interface issues crunchy roll has across all of its apps. Really feels like the only way to have a chance at a good experience with crunchy roll is on desktop in browser. Such a shame that this merger is taking away more convenient ways to view the content we all want to watch. The way episodes and seasons are organized is dreadfully difficult to read which sometimes makes even starting a new show tedious

It's.. really laggy and there's WAY to much ads. I'm a premium member and I get like 24 ads per episode!? This happens really often, I get a error, it kicks me out, I go back into the episode, and I have to watch 6 ads + it restarts me to the beginning so when I skip back to where I was, I have to watch MORE ADS. I am pretty disappointed and I'm sure it isn't my WI-FI that makes it crash so much. {Update: It works a bit better now, there's still alot of ads but atleast it doesn't crash anymore!}

Why do I even pay for this when 9 times out of 10 the app doesn't even work properly to play the newest episodes. It just endlessly loads and then never plays but then I go on the website or on a console and it works perfectly fine. Fix your app Edit: lowered to 1 star. New "coming soon" update has made it to where I can't watch anything. Even things I've already watched say it. I've paid for this bs app for almost a decade and it stay broken.

Even though the entirety of the anime is present in it, it has some serious bangers. Offline downloading is smooth and there's no kind of outside advertising and once you pay the subscription ads are gone (as it should be, but can't be taken for granted these days) The app itself is fine, on my phone after an upgrade it has issues to start but it got fixed rather quickly.

It sucks cause we have very few apps for anime. But I hate crunchyroll. I've had problems with subtitles not showing. The UI for the app just being plain stupid. Idk how many times I've uninstalled and re-installed the app. I'm in search of a better app cause crunchyroll can't get it right. Also, I'm not reaching out to your "support" again. Already wasted my time and money.

Used the app for years. Worked great. Latest update wrecked the app. Can't get through a single episode without freezing up entirely and forcing me to tab out and force stop. Warning, if you haven't gotten the latest update, don't. Pause updates until fixed. If you have, rollback if you can. Rolling back to prior version fixed issues I'm having. Back to 5 stars if next update works.

It's a great app for anime watchers but it's the fact that since they changed there's prices, they didn't send a email on the fact they were changing their prices, so i spent $10 dollars and then changed the subscription because i didn't know that that happens. S.o i have a fan membership for about $2 more than i was going to orginally spend but theyre was no warning.

Time to update my review. From 4 star to 1 star. It's been a couple years since my last review and crunchyroll seems to be getting worse and worse. Not only do they have zero stability for watching over mobile data, they constantly have subtitle issues. As of very recently, now entire new episodes are "coming soon" for an extended time. I'm paying for a premium service and getting premium trash.

If you're just a very casual anime watcher & do not watch enough to justify the subscription, then be prepared for a cascade of commercials. Not just a few, but a ridiculous amount 🙄. The same 1-2 commercials in a row..over & over. Up to 8 times in a row during one commercial break. It literally makes any of the free stuff almost unwatchable.

Not a very good streaming app. It has some positive qualities, like being able to manually set stream quality, but it's missing basic features like picture-in-picture. It is also a HUGE battery hog. It can kill my phone in 3 hours' time, which means it's using an unprecedented amount of power for a video streaming app. I do not have this problem with any of the other services. With them, I can get 7-8 hours of continuous streaming before needing to charge.

the phone app works great but the roku app is terrible, I've almost considered canceling cr because I get "error -#" sometimes it's a 1 or a 3 or a 7, but it's frustrating to have to exit the app and go back in every 1-3 episodes of a show. They do have a lot of anime though, lots to choose from, that part is pretty awesome.

Honestly, I enjoy being able to watch shows on the go. However, it's a great way to do so without pirating, but I hate that I can't watch a whole series of a show, and I don't wanna pay a subscription that offers more than what I'll even be using, because I only care about watching a show. I wouldn't mind if all episodes to shows were free to watch with ads and being in the subbed version, or if there was a cheaper subscription just for those who wanna just watch stuff.

If I was able to give this app zero stars I would. I had 2 accounts but cancelled one. I wasn't watching it so I cancelled the other about a year ago. March 21,2024 they suddenly took a premium payment off my credit card which caused other bills of mine to bounce. Now they want me to go through sending them photos of receipts that I don't have because my account is cancelled. All I had was the free app. Which I'm deleting. If anymore money is taken my bank will handle it

Good selection. Besides any and all anime I watch getting caught in few second loops, none of the English episodes of every anime has no subtitles. ALLOW SUBTITLES ON NO MATTER THE LANGUAGE SELECTION!!! This has been a problem for a long time(about a few years). Should have been fixed. Help desk/customer support does nothing about it or, it would have been fixed.

Great app but needs improvements. A screen lock feature is essential to prevent accidental touches. Also, the orientation lock limits viewing flexibility. English CC text size is too small; adjustable options are needed. Additionally, allowing selection of multiple subtitles simultaneously would improve user experience, especially cause English CC doesn’t has sign and song captions most of the times. Looking forward to seeing these enhancements soon.

It was good, now half the time it won't load videos or I sitting through 2 minutes of buffering to just watch 30 seconds before it buffers again. I use to love this app, but you clearly don't care for quality and just want our money. So im probably going to cancel and delete this app soon. And reading the other comments it's not just me. Instead of telling us to go to customer support to tell you about a problem you have been having for years, you should fix it.

Crunchyroll continues to just stop playing an episode. It will randomly freeze and refuse to start back up. It's not the Internet, as every other streaming service has no issue. The layout is awful, and finding where you left off is not intuitive. Edit: the freezing is happening more often now. A report has already been sent. This app is pretty much unusable at this point.
