This review is for the Jan 2024 update only and specifically for the (fire) TV app .. I used to love it and then they redesigned the UI and the entire app is just frustrating now. Please go back to the previous UI and appearance, the worst part is the when you enter the menu to look at the guide or recently watched channels the live TV picture is completely gone and you can only hear the sound. It's also harder to read the tiles with smaller fonts. The old version was great, please go back!

VERY expensive, not worth it. All it shows now are reality programs and garbage. Better to ditch the satellite and switch to streaming. I was with you for 25+ years! Tried to negotiate a better price, no deal, so I left. You wanted 20 per month to connect, 20 to use the DVR and the least expensive package was about 80. Called loyalty dept, nothing more you could do. Got a Roku stick for $40, no other fees required. Have 1 streaming service at 11.99 per month. Net savings, 110 per month.

I hate that I have to use it. It's okay unless you want to binge-watch something on demand. Then be prepared to watch the same darn commercial 7-9 times every 2 mins. It's annoying. If I get forced to watch one more Feeding America commercial during Chopped, I will scream. It's ridiculous as I pay for this torture, and this app is the only way you can watch on multiple TVs or devices, even at home. Oh, and it tends to freeze on last one restarting the set of commercials. I finally had enough!!

I have the app on my phone, laptop and TV. It works great. The only issue I have is there's no exit tab for the TV. You have to click the back button4 or more times and hope it doesn't bypass the exit screen. It would be better to add an exit option to the sidebar for easy access like other apps have to be able to close the easily.

App will not work on my phone. Same error as others have mentioned - you launch the app, the location permission pops up briefly, it goes to the sign in screen and after putting in credentials it says you may be having a connection issue. EDIT: after no one at Directv support could help for weeks, found the solution after extensive Googling - username and password CANNOT be identical for ATT and DIRECTV. The username can be the same, but the passwords have to be different. Solved it for me.

This app is such a disappointment. I've had this service at a premium level for years and pay a ridiculous amount of money for it to be this bad. When I TRY to connect to my TV via smart view it's either way to small and when I adjust it it's off center towards the bottom of the screen and gets cut off.i know it's this app because when I connect directly through any specific streaming app it connects and displays perfectly. This us ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

For the last 6 months this is what I always get. Somethings gone wrong. We may be having trouble with your connection. Connecting your device to Wi-Fi could help fix the issue or try again later" I can never log in, so I can never watch my dvr shows away from home. Very annoying, I pay to much monthly for this app to be like this.

Still no picture I'm picture option. When app is minimized you should still have an option to have a small window to watch content. Thanks for the reply. Also The app still does not allow for casting of recorded shows which it has says it's being worked on for a very long time. This is good if you record a show and you're at someone else's place and you want to cast to their TV if they don't have a DirecTV account.

App performs well below expectations. I can watch the same live content on the channel individual site with no issues, but freezes consistently on direct tv app. It says when app is jammed up the video may not play. Well the app needs to make the performance better so it doesn't jam up all the time. To compete with You tube TV, it needs to make better performance

I continue to get an error message stating "something's gone wrong" need to be connected to internet to sign in blah, blah, blah!!!! This is very annoying considering how much money I'm spending on this subscription!!! I've uninstalled to reinstall, clean cache and have also restarted my phone mulitiple times to which NOTHING WORKS to fix the problem!!! I'm about ready to cancel and save myself $200

Update 4/24. App restarts to main page every time you leave it, even to check a text. Forgets show you were watching or where you left off. Deletes episodes to record new stuff even with unlimited storage. No FF or Rew when streaming w/o rewatching 6 mins of commercials every time you rewind/FF. Search function doesn't find shows/movies you're looking for, even when they are currently streaming. Can't search by actor name. Doesn't minimize to box in corner of your screen like most streaming apps

You will never see the program that you select to watch. This app has more ads than The Shopping Channel. I selected a program to watch, I watched my phone for 10 minutes. It never got to the channel I selected. It's just one rapid fire ad after another. This is nothing like the Comcast streaming app. It is unusable. The fiber internet from AT&T is fine, but the DirecTV side has got to go, and the DirecTV Box isn't even here yet.

Simply doesn't work with Chromecast. It'll connect at the beginning of the show, but then freezes indefinitely when it automatically tries to jump to live (or wherever you were in your program). Sometimes, it'll die with a "glitch" error, but most of the time your Chromecast will require a reboot to function again. This only happens with Directv's app. No issues with any other apps. EDIT: Your response is irrelevant. My version is 1.56.281627.

Only good thing I can say about this app is that it works sometimes. It's glitchy and slow at times. The app is unnecessarily restrictive. Can't really use it split screen and does not have pop out view option like many other apps. No option to stream in the background. Unacceptable from a giant cable company that definitely doesn't lack resources.

Doesn't work more often than it does. I get really tired of glitches, then when the program does come back on you've missed important parts of anything that you were watching. Like right now for instance when you go to guide there's absolutely nothing there I have tried to adjust any and all parameters and search features. There are no updates available. I have verified through Google Play store that the app is up-to-date. I have restarted and refreshed both the phone and the app. No bueno!

Trying to watch programs and tells me that the local data is turned off and need to turn it on to watch shows. Takes you to settings and there is nothing related to their supposed issue to stream to be found. Just a really poor APP that is not user friendly or really able to be used at all. Very disappointed that I can't use the service I pay for.

The adds are really bad. Long blocks of back-to-back adds. Just when it tells you you're done with one series of adds, immediately comes another block of them. This just happened to me like five + times in a row. Also , if you make it through those initial ads ,and then try to navigate back to where you left off in a program, Guess what happens... lol
