I really loved this app and used it frequently to listen to my books but putting a pay wall up has absolutely killed any enthusiasm I had for this app. If you are going to make this a subscription based app the least you could do is give unlimited listen time. I could overlook the fact that like other reviews have stated: my phone battery drains so much faster, my phone is hot to the touch while it's playing and that it now skips back to the beginning.

changed to a one star: I now suspect, paywall throttling, systems that worked perfectly before now has ridiculous wait times. Too expensive for what it offers. I understand that free features couldn't last forever, but the current paid credit subscription model is underwhelming. It feels like the developers overestimated the value of the product when deciding on this new paywall. For many users, the cost simply doesn’t align with the experience or utility offered. I will be uninstalling.

Used to Be Great, But... Got logged out after an update, then hit with an “unknown error” trying to log back in. Had to uninstall just to get in again—lost most of my saved files. I use the app to read my writing aloud, but now uploads freeze at 0% forever. Nothing works. Now there's a paywall. I'd pay, but: 1. What if paying magically fixes everything? Feels shady. 2. What if I pay and nothing changes? That’s worse. Loved this app before, hoping it gets back on track.

This app was a life saver since I have a hard time reading on screens but it was too good to last I suppose since it went from being completely free to only offering two hours/month for free (basically a trial) and then a tiered payment for additional monthly hours. I get that it really was too good to be true before but it was sad to realise that I can't afford it and had to stop using it. In addition, the process time went from fast to slow when they changed this too.

Honestly loved this app when I first started using it. it saved me hours of staring at the computer screen reading papers for school. Sadly that is gone now. I get that things had to change but 2 hours is not nearly enough for the free version and not all people, especially students, can afford to pay the high prices it is asking for. If they made a student deal that would be amazing and I would love to use it but I doubt that will be the case.

As everyone has said, it's the end of an era. We knew the day would come, but I thought they would at least still make it usable on a free tier. But nope, the only way you can actually finish a book is by paying. It's a shame, but it was expected. Before I uninstalled, I noticed a decline in voice quality. The weird humming and false starts would happen more frequently, but they were still ignorable for the most part. I'll definitely miss this app.

Of all the apps on my phone, this was my favorite app until the recent update. All I use it for is playing my own writing back to me in a single voice to help with editing, because I can catch things through audio that my eyes may pass over. Now they've fully monetized it, expecting the insane annual subscription fee of $348/year for me to do what I could do yesterday for free. I would have happily paid a one-time licensing fee for forever access, but not this. This is pure greed. Shame on you.

Before the update, I loved that I could listen to my writing as well as listen to stories nonstop. The voices are amazing with the level of expression they can do. However, after the update, the time to listen was shortened too much, and the waiting period for the refresh was way longer, thanks to the limited time. I miss the fully free and high-quality with no time limit for listening to stories, websites, and many more.

Edit: this used to be free... now it's an absurd amount of $$$. When it was free... it was a great way to basically turn anything into an audiobook. I really love the voice "Peter", he's my favorite one that I've found. He occasionally gets things wrong, but overall is very enjoyable to listen to. Suggestions: Add a way to edit the pronunciation of certain words. Be able to set different characters voices so you know who is talking.

It's not free, and it heats up my phone so much. Plus, it drains my battery life so fast it's insane. At this point I just wait until phones automatically come with this text-to-speech AI voices feature for free. I just give it two years, maybe one, seeing how companies are competing with each other. Maybe Google or Microsoft will drop it sooner. 🤔💁‍♀️👋

2nd edit: While less aggressive the new pricing model is still awful. The app is still rudimentary and needs work, the cost of a subscription is way too high, and the free version too restrictive. Edit: With the pricing model rolled back this app is back to being a wonderful convenient and natural sounding way to listen to the thing you want read out. Original: A previously solid app ruined by violently aggressive monitization. Skip it. You get 1 hour free a week

Mispronounced too many words from a scanned document, you need to read along to understand. Also skips whole sentences almost every paragraph. Only thing good about it is how fast it does text to speech of a scanned or pictured document compared to Speechify, though that is useless with the bugs it has. I'll stick to the free Speechify version if I really need help reading.

I absolutely adored this app up until the last few weeks. I've used this app for months as a way to listen to stories that don't have audiobooks available, the voice options have been amazing and don't sound over robotic. this app is honestly better than speechify in my opinion. the best part of this app is that it was 100% free when I first started using it. now you can only get 2 hours free a week. id have been okay with ads even but sub only means I'm finding a new app

I really like this app, the voices are smoother than any other I've tried. But I can't give this app more than 3 stars due to all of the issues I've experienced in just 2 days. Between paragraphs the AI goes into turrets mode, it will freeze up mid article, some sections of text will just get skipped over two or three paragraphs at a time, and it absolutely hates lengthy articles of text. Fix these issues and you'll have a paying customer.

There are a lot of AI voices and they do a pretty good job sounding natural. It's easy to listen to and it will play in the background. However, I have had issues with the app working. Copied text or links to an article will not load and the AI voice won't read it. The other thing that would make the app better is a playlist function. I would love to load up articles and continue to listen uninterrupted.

This is what I've been looking for! The voices are amazing, the app works so well. After opening the app and using it some, I thought, there's no way this could be free. After looking around a bit, I couldn't find a single thing asking for money. The voices sound so good, and there is a wide variety as well. If you love listening to books, but your book doesn't have an audio version, this is the app to use!

The voices are really nice and pretty smooth. however, uploading a file leads to the format getting garbled, and the voice adds long pauses because of unnecessary new lines it adds. Also, dialogue in quotes found in the text leads the voice to say "um" or a guttural sound at times. File importing needs some major reworking. If these issues can be fixed, this could be a 5 star app.

since update now behind a pay wall. uninstalled. 1 month update. meh. progressively getting worse lots of speech errors, humming, awkward breathing, omitting words. then file loading errors & looping of audio. syncing issue with audio and bookmarks multiple updates, I guess, to fix the issues?? one big con needs an internet. connection in order for this app to work. I wish they had the page option where it turn the page as it read instead of auto scrolling down. battery eater tho. may switch tho

This is exactly the app I was looking for. I can't believe how well this works. so far I'm loving it. I kept asking myself, what's the catch? Found some: 1. App consumes a lot of resources. my phone is perpually warm to touch when I'm using it. it also wildly drains battery. I'm on S25Ultra. So much so that my phone reported excessive resource warning. 2. Voices sometimes automatically and randomly changes tone and pitches. like the voice started running. hope these 2 can be addressed

I used to love using this app for listening to fanfiction and the like. Then one of the recent updates came out and suddenly it's repeating stuff and suddenly runs out of time. I'm seriously thinking of uninstalling it as there's just no way for me to use it anymore. to give you an idea, the current fanfic I was listening to has 47 hrs left. I could understand having to pay for specific items online and such, but being forced to pay and in amounts that really wouldn't help anyways makes no sense
