This app is glitchy and slow. When I first opened it nothing happens. I close it, open it back up, and then it works. Casting doesn't always work. Also, it is impossible to find anything on this website! It is the most unorganized not user-friendly website I have ever used. If you're getting this app expecting to see Major League Sports, forget it. You might have one Major League sport Play a day. The rest is all college and obscure sports nobody cares about. But it has UFC! THAT'S GREAT!

What the h happened. Been using this app for 3 years no problems. But Tonight it turned into a bunch of garbage. My wifi clocks in at over 380 consistently. My fire stick is at over 225 and my Roku comes in at over 280. I am not using VPN. I am getting constant buffer issues on both devices. The app is loading in the less than one mps range. All other apps I an currently using have no problems.

Score page now bulkier to show betting lines, which sucks because it makes the scores list needlessly longer.. Also, games that are part if the NBA/NHL playoffs don't show what the series is at on a high level (aka 'series tied 1-1') and you have to go into the score to see where it stands. Video player sucks: watch a 30 second ad, video doesn't play, back out, watch same 30 second ad, video plays.

Horrible app. I pay $115 a year and what I get in return is an app with bad functionality and bugs. Why wouldn't you let me change the resolution of the video? Why when I click on schedule the page doesn't load? I have to restart the app and then it works. Why when I go full screen and I rotate the phone the screens stays stuck in one direction? And I can go on and on with other things I don't like about this app. ESPN needs to learn from Peacock. They get it right.

I got the 3/21 update. It still messes up every time I try to continue a video or fast forward it says error content not retrieved. I hardly ever use the app because of this and when I do I have to attempt multiple times to play something. The ads are the worst also. Playing the same 3 or 4 ads over and over on repeat. I like watching ufc on this app but the experience could be way better

This is the crappiest app I have ever used. It's too bad as there is so much sports on ESPN and even with a paid subscription nothing ever seems to work. I have tried it on Roku, apple tv, fire stick, and android and it works differently on every device.. the only commonality across them is they all suck. Just in different did functional ways. If you want to see sports you have to have a paid cable subscription. Period. I suspect it sucks so bad by design for that reason. No cord cutters !!!

I have a Galaxy S22, and I don't even get notifications on my phone at all. Despite turning on all notifications and linking my favorite clubs, I still get none. No breaking news, no alerts, nothing. Then you go in and watch a 30-second unskipable ad for a 25-second clip. Also, I subscribe to ESPN+, yet I can't watch Sport Center or catch a program? How does that make any sense? Trash.

As of April 24 it's still garbage. Amazing that in 2024 they can't even manage to keep your position in a VOD. Just switching apps momentarily forces you back into the homepage which is also terribly designed as well. Truly remarkable to see such low quality work. Awful user experience, often broken, barely works with Chromecast. Sometimes it just works, mostly it just sucks and requires constant workarounds to watch.

app has been terrible lately. after closing the app, it will often start playing video ads in the background which you can hear if your audio is on, and once you figure out ESPN is the app playing audio, the only way to get it to stop is to force close the app. also if you set up game alerts for NBA games, it often sends push alerts with incorrect quarter/half scores, adding/removing a point or two from a teams score. for highlighs it often plays the ad before, but then fails to play the clip.

Decent for streaming and box scores, terrible for clips and articles. It's so so frustrating to sit through an ad for every single clip, often ones that are shorter than the ad, or fail to load altogether when the ad loaded just fine. Same sorts of things with articles, the app can't keep track of your scroll location on an article when switching between apps or locking the screen, and auto refreshes itself every time.

The video playback is horrible! You get one 1 shot (if it even plays) for it to stream clear. Try to watch it again and it's like trying to watch porn on the scrambled channels back in the day (yes I know that's a bit extreme but you get the point, hahaha) Oh oh oh, but the ads ...those repetitive ads, always and I repeat always play clear as day. Go fig

Very glitchy, suddenly closes app while watching, freezes, poorly organized, hard to find the content you want, requires logging in and out multiple times to get it to recognize your account. Have had to pay more than once for ppv in order for it to work then go through the hassle of getting it rebated. Customer service will always blame your device or internet quality and yet it is the same terrible app on 6 different devices and 3 different wifi providers.

ESPN fix your app! This is hot garbage. It's littered with bugs. 1) I shouldn't have to watch a 30 second add for a 15 second clip. 2) if you're going to make me watch a 30 second add then the 15 second clip better work! The adds never fail to load but 75% of the time the video doesn't load. 3) if you're going to let me stream don't make me sign into my cable provider EVERY TIME I LEAVE THE APP.

Often I open notifications to watch a video. After watching a 30 second add, the video/highlight won't play. Also, they get game times wrong. ESPN will say a game starts on their network 30 before the actual kickoff/tipoff. I assume this is to drive viewers to their own network. It's BS. How can they show game times incorrectly?? That's one of the most basic functions of a sports app.

Videos don't work half the time. Edit: this app is absolute trash. It will send you alerts for videos and you click on them to open you just sit at a black screen. Or sometimes it will load a video and make you sit through 30 seconds of ads and then play a different video that you didn't even click on. And then you can't find the one you actually did click on. Complete garbage app and it's been this way for years. Shame on you ESPN.

Sometimes I get a notification for a story and try to read the story in the app, but it won't be in my app inbox and I miss it. It gives me my scores like it should. Recently I keep getting breaking news alerts and notifications when I have very intentionally turned those alerts and notifications off. I only want the scores for my teams I don't care about basketball or golf or any of the sports I'm not following.

When the app works, it's fine. WHEN IT WORKS. Often it will fail to realize that we pay for ESPN+ through the Disney Bundle, which requires a restart of the app to fix, sometimes two. The video playback is terrible on the app and on the desktop site, constantly going black/blocky and losing quality with NO manual adjustment option. Let me pick what resolution I want to see! The app will also often freeze upon opening, showing nothing but a gray screen, the header, and a frozen loading wheel.

Fine for getting scores and reading articles, but if you want to watch highlights or videos it sucks. The videos take forever to load, if they load at all, the video quality is awful, but the ads have no issues with loading or quality. Every other app that has videos I have ever used has a better video system than they do. Whenever any issue arises, which is often, they provide only standard troubleshooting and when that doesn't work they do nothing!

The app makes it easy to follow scores and standings. Where it lacks is the video. Which is surprising since ESPN is basically a company centered around video. So many times the video doesn't play. It happens frequently. But the ad plays! Every. Time. And when the video you want to watch doesn't play but the add before it did play, now you have to try to click on it again and watch another add. And if you rewind it to watch again, it freezes up, stutters, gets blurry. Atrocious video experience.

Has its pros for scores, records, etc., but what I really hate is when I get a push notification for a video, half the time (or more), after sitting through multiple ads that you can never skip, I'm taken to a completely different video. So after sitting through a minute or two of ads, I just wasted my time to get to a video I don't care about and didn't want to see in the first place!
