Does not work at all anymore. It will not turn on the display photos for either of my portals. The toggle buttons just go right back to off. Ive reset both portals, deleted and redownloaded the app. Nothing works. Also, I've deleted two albums about fifteen times & the keep reappearing.

6th August 2021. Still useless. Keeps rolling round. Not showing pictures. Previous critical review seems to have been removed. Complained lots of black squares and only a few pictures to go across. Latest update today, now doesn't load at all. Very disappointed. Nearly three months on from last edit and this app still unusable. 6th November 2021. Still useless. Black blank squares. Now offering random albums which incorrect dates. So disappointed.

I would like to access the pictures on my phone. I goto Add Photos and see All photos listed. 1) When I select an album from the drop down menu nothing happens. 2) When scrolling down the page the pictures start to multiple. Eventually filling up the screen with the same picture. What can I do? I see in the other reviews this is a know issue. What a shame, a lost opportunity.

03.04.21 Since the recent update, I cannot add photos to any album, existing or new. I can create a new album but not put photos in it. I have tried so many different ways. I have had this app & 2 portals (one for my mum and one for me) for 18 months, all worked perfectly well until now. So frustrating!! UPDATE It is nearly 3 weeks since I posted a review about problems with my Portal. I have sent emails to the support address. I am so disappointed with the lack of acknowledgement or response.

I used to love my Portal... but now I can't add apps, and the ability to update my photo albums has disappeared for some reason. The video call feature was great. I loved the tracking, but lately, most WhatsApp calls seem to have a time- lag, and the picture quality had deteriorated. If I'd known Facebook/Meta was going to stop supporting the Portal so soon after I bought it (FB was shoving ads for it at me all the time, it looked great) I would never have bought it. Feel completely ripped off.

Portal stopped display slideshow photos properly and the toggle buttons in the Portal App can't be used. Contacted customer support, got the run around, tried a few things I saw suggested online, but they didn't work either. Tried to contact customer support again, and now even the chat is telling me there's an error and ending the chat. No response or solutions is very telling. I wouldn't doubt if there is a class action lawsuit in the near future.

This app is terrible. For a billion dollar company, they really dropped the ball. Adding photos to your frame is a PAIN! They have all the photos from Facebook right there and all they need to do is include an option to add the photo to your Portal album. But nope. Only add EVERY picture from the album or none. Should make adding photos from anywhere (including Google and other popular cloud albums) easy. But even from Facebook albums it's basically impossible, unless you download to desktop.

Not sure what the latest updates did, but now it's nearly impossible to add new pictures from your phone's pic albums. You can't access them unless you manually sort through ALL of your images. Not feasible when you have hundreds or thousands of photos. That beats the purpose of the app and it's been like that for at least a couple of months now. Hence 1 star.

Portal app has always been problematic, especially when trying to transfer pictures to the Portal itself (missing pictures/no thumbnails for pics etc.). As of recent (maybe most recent update?), it is unusable. Recent pictures from camera aren't showing up on the Portal app when trying to transfer pics. When you try to filter pics on your phone by category, the app does nothing. Also, the pics shown are all sorted under an unknown, incorrect date. Is this the META way?

Update: Latest update n 2/18/21 still hasn't fixed the network error message. Update: Latest update on 2/9/21 didn't fix the issue. Original: Still broken. Used to work well. Now it keeps giving an error that I need to change my phone and Portal are on different networks when I press any button on the remote control in the app. Multiple reboot and reinstall attempts. It's been rendered completely useless.

Not sure if latest update or what.. But-seems pretty useless lately. When you try to open pictures to select what to show in portal 1) slow as hell, sometimes pictures do not even load. 2) doesn't show picture or does it duplicate. Starts from old pictures and while you scroll down replicates previous ones.. Loops all the time. All that Portal hardware is great this app it's hard to believe comes from same place. FIX IT! Where can we even log a ticket for this P1 defect

Recent update broke the app and made it impossible to add photos. Please fix this! Update, 11-12-21 last update broke the app again. Can't load photos, no matter what folder you choose it only shows one and creates multiple copies of everything in the folder. Also, the browser seems to no longer work, it opens and immediately closes itself-same with the YouTube app. This is becoming totally frustrating!

It used to work but hasn't since the last couple updates. Wont open, just gets stuck on the spinning circle. We got the Portal to be able stay in contact with home while the kids aren't able to go to school but now I can't call home from the app or it won't let them call me. Just on parr with the rest of the Facebook experience lately..... 11/6/20, after latest update, app still won't open. Completely worthless! What's the point of having a way to communicate with home if you can't even call! 🤬

Very buggy. When trying to add photos to an album, most of them show as black images. So it's almost impossible to choose from. Also, if you're using a Google pixel phone, you're probably out of luck. Since the app closes each time you try to add photos to an album. It's a SHAME that a company as big as Facebook produce this bad of an app

Portal has been an easy, valuable tool for staying in touch with family. However, one of my favorite things about it is the photo display. I love seeing our memories as I pass by it.... lately, it's the same handful of pics that I see, and I can't open the portal app to find a fix or to add photos. It's very frustrating and sad.

I can't even get inside of the app to do anything. It keeps saying "Update your settings to upload photos... Go to your phone's Settings app, tap on Portal, and grant storage permissions." I've checked all the permissions and didn't deny any of them. I've restarted my phone. It still keeps saying that same thing. I just wanted to add some pictures of my family to my portal. Feeling frustrated. Not the best first impression of this app. I love my portal, so it's frustrating that the app stinks.

I can see others are having the same issues. I tried to add photos today and I can't access my phone pic albums, just pulls up the photos I already have uploaded into the app, and duplicates them dozens of times as I scroll down. This app has always been buggy, combined with the lack of services that can be utilized through the portal itself, like Netflix or Hulu, I feel like I wasted a ton of money on this device, and we bought the Portal+. It's back to the Amazon Show for us.
