Have been using this app since it launched back in 2015 and I love it. My only complaint is the text-to-speach isn't particularly stable. I use this function a lot to listen to fics at work. Most recent update actually broke text-to-speech now it only plays for about 60 seconds if it starts at all. Just keep getting "playback error, try again" over and over.

I've been using this app for years with very little complaint aside from the occasisonal outage and audio function unavailability. However, within the last week, they changed the reading voice to have more inflection (awesome), but it randomly repeats phrases, randomly switches between two voices (confusing at times). It also will randomly stop reading. Honestly, I'd rather have the monotone voice and keep the mostly consistent flow than have inflection with random voice changes and stops.

Just wanted to read a bit before bed but it apparently seems all my downloaded and stories in folders are gone though it says they're there. I sent an email for a bug report a moment ago. Hopefully this gets fixed. Edit review, 6/27/23 down to 1 star. The story deletion issue has never been fixed. Frustrating. 4/20/24: the app seems to open by itself when my device is idel. I don't touch the app and nothing is touching it when it opens on its own.

Everything had been going well for me until the last update. Since then I've not been able to read anything. I haven't gotten a story update email in months either and the Administrators don't seem to care. *Update 4-13-24* Congrats. This app now officially sucks. The only reason I'm keeping it is because it still works better for reading the stories I want to read. But the Notification Option is consistently stuck showing unread/unviewed notifications (even if you read/view them)! Very annoying

No point in downloading this app if you have an internet browser. Hard to navigate. Can't click links. Defaults to crossovers in search for some godforsaken reason. Doesn't send notifications to phone properly. Doesn't send you the "guest" reviews so you can see them. Doesn't give you the option to respond to reviews for other users. Completely. Pointless. It feels half-finished, like the dev team just gave up.

OK. I used to love this app, and I'm not giving up hope on it. But every time, I save a story and finish it later. I open it back up to see my paragraphs mixed up. And every time I fix it, it mixes up again. Like a blending machine, the story is out of order, and it drives me crazy. If I put in a good few minutes and fix it. The story will finally be fixed. It's just frustrating when it happens

I keep getting a pop-up, EVERY TIME, I go to the home page on the app saying, "You have rejected permission the app requires to perform the desired function." What desire function? I'm going to the home page! It gives me a choice to open settings, which takes me to notifications. I have them turned off. I don't want to get notifications on my phone. If that's the desired function, then I know & stop popping up! Doesn't make sense why it pops up when it does. I made a complaint & nothing was done

So this app is pretty much a convenient way to read FF and even has an AI reader except recently that AI reader has been pretty god awful. You can read just fine but if you want to listen? Good luck. Half the time it doesn't work and when it does there is almost a 30 second pause between paragraphs if it just doesn't stop reading by itself for some reason. So again, this app is great for reading but the listening part is absolutely horrid.

Loved using the text to speech feature in the app UNTIL the last update. The text to speech has huge delays between sentences/ paragraphs and then crashes so it doesn't function at all. And when it starts working again, it has to start the entire chapter over, which leads to tons of scrolling to find where you left off. Worst update EVER!

I nearly exclusively used this for the text to speech option. They did something to the app recently that causes the reader to fail every other line and shut off. So immensely frustrating. I'm trying to listen to stuff at work. I don't have the time to keep a restarting it several times per chapter Edit from future: based on advise from others, delete the app. Delete the app and look for an .APK file online of an earlier version. Earlier versions don't have the same problem as the TTS-feature

I used to really like this app because of its text to speech feature which is useful when you want to hear a story but either dont want to read it yourself or if you like listening in the background while you are busy but this app has become the reality of if its not broke dont fix it. They fixed what they thought they should now it doesnt run the same as it used too. The text to speech stop every line break or few sentence for me now when it used to stop when I stopped it before.

Used to love the app, but throughout the first half of '23, it's deleted my download library at least once a week. As of May '24, FF constantly opens itself when I'm unlocking my phone. I assume it's due to giving it permission to send notifications, as this never happened before I allowed that. When notifications aren't allowed, however, there's a popup on the homepage every single time you open the app that tells you a critical function is not working. Can't win with this app, don't recommend

The app works decently most of the time but using the app for longer than like 2 hours makes it start to heat up. Also, the text to speech function is constantly taking between 5 and 30 seconds to start between paragraphs. It's really frustrating when there's a huge climactic part of the story and suddenly, you're waiting a minute just to hear what happens next. It worked just fine before all the updates. What happened?

App doesn't render all characters. Fractions (¾), ampersand (&), and percent (%) don't show up, often eating the rest of the word with it (like "D&D" will become just "D"). Also, for some inexplicable reason, the text size keeps shrinking. I am constantly having to go to the settings to increase the text size otherwise it becomes too small to read easily. Also, it's a massive battery hog, despite turning off cover images.

I'm a writer, and I'm finding out through the reviews that an update has messed up my email notifications. Each time I log in to add a chapter or do editing, it tells me that they've turned off my notifications due to an email issue. It says that I need to add them to my email contacts. I've done that every time I've logged in. I get notifications from the app, but no emails. It's been months since I've received one. I like to listen, too, and that's messed up. Please fix it.

I love the app but I wish the email notifications were different. If an author I'm following or favorited made a new story, I understand getting an email for it, but if I'm not following the story I don't understand why I get notified every time it updates. Also, the AI TTS voice doesn't work well. There's no issues with my wifi, but when I have a story be read out loud, it buffers for a while before every paragraph, no matter how long or short it is. Downloading the story doesn't help either

Since the last update, whenever I use the TTS feature, It keeps stopping at random times between paragraph, crashes, or out lright refuses to load and play. Needless to say, that I haven't been able to enjoy this app very much lately. I really hope they fix those issues in the next patch because a lot of people seems to have had enough at this point.

Ever since the last update (v63.0), the app has been intermittently having severe syncing issues that make it impossible for me to read any stories. It lets me search for stories and go through the categories, but clicking on a story results in an unending loading screen. I tested the syncing via the library menu, and found that it successfully syncs right after I launch the app, but a moment afterward every further attempt to sync is met with "Sync Failed". Since the update in March, this app constantly drains battery because it's pegging the CPU like a cryptomining app. This causes the phone to get hot enough that it's uncomfortable to hold in the case. Also, the battery will drop from 100% to 83% in 30 minutes on an S23 with Power Saving enabled. That's the equivalent of watching two hours of YouTube! This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Whenever I type a comment on a story it keeps bugging out, for example; When I type 'Nice plot, keep it up' I instead type 'Nie pokep i up' (exact copy i wrote on the app), i would need to redo it and press a key 1-3 times every 2-4 letters. Never had the problem outside of the app, so I'm convinced it's the app that has the problem. I'd explain it in further detail, but I'm restricted to 500 letters. - Dark
