I was charged 16$ as license verification fee, even though I had been using old app for a while with already verified license. Additionally a hefty 10$ booking fee. So, just be aware if a car shows up in the map for 50$, be ready to pay 60-75 bucks based on if you have verified license or not. At this point just go for a regular rental where you get 24 hours for the same price and unlimited miles.

The way of advertising prices is very misleading. You will pay a hefty fee per kilometre traveled (in addition to the base fee of the car advertised on the website) which takes the total bill far higher (in our case 3 times higher) than what was advertised. You might as well go with a traditional car rental - this isn't, in the end, any cheaper, despite appearances.

The New app UI is not intuitive at all. 1. The scroll feature for scheduling is even more confusing than the Legacy app. Why not just make it a standard calendar like any other car rental or travel app? 2. The old App had an EXTEND feature which was easy to understand to see how long a car is available in case you needed to extend dates. Impossible with new app. 3. Insurance security deposits are high, even when using a credit card, and take a full 10 days to refund. No longer convenient.

Not easy to use. Date select has annoying scroll feature and does not show a calendar. Difficult to figure out specific scheduling without a decent visual of the month. Not many cars available as well. To me, it feels like this is because of the functionality. The marketplace of peer to peer car sharing has room for competition, but this ain't it at the moment.

Very mixed. App seems to dynamically adjust pricing, looking at the same car in 5 minutes the price increased by $20 and then went back down. I've had to pick up cars in a garage where there's no reception and you need it to unlock the car. The check-in process taking pictures is cumbersome. Only nice thing is the automatic fuel gauge reading so the last person can't cheat.

New app dumped a $2000 charge into my checking account, which triggered fraud alert at my bank, who promptly locked my debit card. This was in addition to having to input all my personal information again, and seeing that a lot of the charges are now hidden until it's payment time. My solution: cancelled my reservations and booked with Turo. No problem. This makes me very sad, because I've been a regular Getaround user for about 10 years now.

The new Getaround app created a nightmare situation for me. The new app lacks a keyless support feature that the legacy Getaround app had. The rental had its keys hidden, and I ended up relying on customer support to lock and unlock the car. When reception was too low near the rental, I found myself locked out of the car with customer support completely unable to help. I ended up having to call the police and a local locksmith to re-gain access to the car. This cost me an extra $400+

I dont like this app. The first time I tried to use it, they said they couldn't verify my profile because my driving record didn't uphear to their "guidelines" ok fine. I had had an accident (wasn't my fault btw) about a couple of months before so I was like ok, I get it. But it's been a year since the accident and I still don't measure up to their "guidelines"? I was able to get a car on Turo and it was fine. But this app just straight out sucks. 🙄

They nickel and dime their renters out of money days later. I wish I had read the reviews first. Beware of this company!!!! There's no phone support outside an active drive. If you have any issues after your drive, you can't talk to someone. You have to email them. Update: If they hit you with additional charges days later then 4 hours before or after the drive doesn't really matter. You have to keep emailing back and forth to discuss the situation. It's very frustrating and unprofessional.

This is the app with the worst customer service. You can't call them, they only answer email. The app does not help you to check whether you return the car within the allowed radius. I picked up the car outside the parking radius, I was asked to enter within the radius. I took pictures where I legally parked. Then I was charged for a parking ticket. I sent pictures showing the leglly parked car. But I was still charged. The customer service is not helpful either.

Nightmare to deal with. They fabricate charges days & wks after. Currently being charged for a "late drop off" even though the car was dropped off on time. Their app often does not work when ending the trip, so I had to call & I spoke to someone on the phone confirming that a fee would not be applied. The next day the "end time" was logged at the time that I had gotten off the phone w CS. >1 week later no one has helped resolve the issue. Have to block the charge on my CC & reporting to the BBB

Bad experience twice - I wish I can give 0 stars. The car wouldnt open with their app and there was nothing they could do except to tell me to cancel the car and get credit for my next rental. This is all fine and dandy but the delay caused me to miss my plan - even though I found a new car, it was far and we left 3 hours later right on time for the traffic. This is not the first time this happens. Earlier rental, couldnt be opened as well. Not reliable at all

Terrible customer care, super inconsistent car situations. I have never had an experience with Getaround that was easy and stress-free. It has often been hard to find car keys, or reach owners to troubleshoot. I don't kniw if other car services are any better but I don't recommend this one.

The app itself has issues in some of the connecting with the cars and unlocking or uploading while doing your check in and out. But my review is mainly about the company itself and they're horrible customer service. After what I went through with them after my first rental which was the only one that went easy and as it should have other than that every other one was issues the cars didn't look like they stated it was just horrible.

I desperately needed a rental to get to my little sister's wedding, but the app continues to give an error about a "network error" and no connection. My phone works just fine and I've tried both Wi-Fi and cellular data. I ended up having to cancel but now the refund takes 3-5 days and I'm afraid I won't be able to afford to see my sister now.

Terrible customer service, and every time I rented there's been an issue with the car. It's very stressful and you never know what you're going to get. Also it's hugely expensive. And try to113th extend your rental for like 1 hour and guess what.. it costs over $100!!! It's just subpar product and they're trying to get every dollar out of you they possibly can. I would say use as an absolute Last Resort with caution.

Zero stars. I've used Getaround a lot years ago. Now I need to reverify my profile to access an upcoming reservation and the application won't let me do it. It says "connection error" every time I try and verify. My connection is fine. I've been waiting on customer service for 2 days to help and the best they could do is "uninstall and reinstall the app." My reservation starts in less than 24 hours and I can't get my account verified

Great app and the company I would rate it as average. The service that they provide is great and their customer service agents are great but that is when you can reach one that you can speak to live. The company tries everything possible to avoid you having a live conversation with an agent, they really push that everything is done via email which sometimes there response can take a few days. It is quite frustrating when you're trying to get some help right away or have a quick question.

Very disappointed. I used Getaround less than 3 years ago. Even though it's been less than 3 years, the app says that I need to reverify my profile to rent a car and the application won't let me do it. It says "connection error" every time I try and verify. My connection is fine. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I've been waiting for a response from customer service for more than 7 days! I had to use Sixt rent-a-car instead. Like for many others, the switch from the legacy app to the new app did not go smoothly. I had to re-verify my account, provide pics of my DL, add a CC, etc. The app does NOT let you do this AHEAD of time. It's bizarre. You have to first rent a car, then it asks you to verify your account. You have no idea that your account needs verification beforehand. Then you have to add a payment method. Again, you CAN'T do it ahead of time. Not to mention the random errors popping up. Bad experience.
