Overall great, with the notable exception of Editor. I mean, there were far better text editors in 1970s! If you move cursor up or down outside the screen, it even wouldn't scroll there, to follow your cursor. No highlighting, etc. In the meantime, file viewer is beautiful, colorful highlighting, if only I could edit that file in it! Nope. Otherwise, great.

I mainly use the app for its 2FA notification. Here's what happens lately. - Try to do something on GitHub web. - It says to answer notification in mobile app. - Get notification & tap on it. - Receive message like 'no active requests' Rest of the app seems fine, but this is really the only reason I have this app installed, so sadly I can only give it 1 star. It used to work fine.

I gave a 1 star review a couple of years ago. Updating to say that it's still max 1 star with the SUPER TERRIBLE user interface, navigation, and general experience. Com'on guys. Instead of focusing on "general problem solving" and data structures when hiring engineers, focus on people with customer experience in mind!!!

It's fine for things that don't require making any changes, but it often overrides a URL that takes you to a page that you would want to use the browser for, like changing repo settings or editing files. Either work around this or implement this functionality and it'll be better.

It's a really great app with continued improvements. However it's still missing features and quality of life refinements from the website. I wish the app showed more information such as timestamps for when labels were added or removed in PR view.

I like the idea of this app, being able to go in and edit files on my phone is handy. However, it is has big annoyances for me, the notifications don't seem to work, or are too hard to configure and I've stopped them somehow. The other issue is that I can't find how to rename/move files in a repo. The app UI could also be better or more consistent with the website. But I know how mobile ux is often left by the wayside in favour of the web ux!

pretty good but i can't easily customize the width of tabs, so all of my code is annoying to read. Edit 2: the 2fa issue is gone, but the indentation issue remains. i'd still very much appreciate if we were able to configure tab width. this is especially important on a device with very little width screen real estate. currently, tabs display as 8 spaces. i wish i could set it to 2 or so -- even if it was hardcoded and had no UI config setting. line wrap does not fix this issue.

Amazing how much work I am able to complete using this app. This is a must have for any web developer. It seems to me that bed reviews of this app are a result of people using older phones. When I had an Iphone 6, 2 years ago, I too found this app pointless. It wasn't until I bought a Google pixel 6 Pro last year that I began finding apps that require interfacing w/ more complex information — like code — usable. Im thinking about getting a "Z Fold" to further enhance my experience.

Latest update makes reading notifications without marking them as read more difficult. On the web, there's a mark as unread button. I'm the app, previously when returning to the list, it would usually include the recently read notifications in the unread list, allowing a long press to set it back to unread. But that no longer works, forcing me to scroll through all the read notifications to find any to mark unread.

I can't log in. It fails to redirect me to the app. I have cleared data, and cache several times and uninstalled and reinstalled. This shouldn't be this hard. Installed and never used. I would guess there are a whole bundle of log entries related to the app with login success and the app never gets used. Some thing to checkout. I can't be the only one who fails to get through the door on using this app. How many log in attempts are their vs actual/ successful loading of the landing home page app

I feel bad, the PC version of this we use for work but the mobile version is genuinely one of the most frustrating app experiences I've had in years. Hard to find anything, no obvious way to change an issues category within a project, things aren't where you expect them to be or just flat out can't be changed. Others might have a fine experience but I did not, sorry devs! Coming from a fellow dev I hate writing bad reviews, but this one really frustrated me to no end :/.

Whomever wrote this app's navigation actions has a total misunderstanding of how the back button on Android is supposed to work. If you have something like a pull request open, then the app is put into the background, then returned to foreground, the back button consistently exits the app entirely. This has been a problem for literally years. Fix it.

The app runs fine, but it's missing absolute basic features that make it nearly useless. Where's the search within projects? Where's the search in a file? Where's the cross references? Where's the tabbing? This app appears to be more social media based than a tool for programmers. It's good for responding to issues, but that's really it.

Ever since they changed to using passkeys, which never seem to work, this entire website has gone from useful to just about useless. The app is absolutely terrible in both layout and function. Most commands don't want to work, or only work after several seconds worth of lag time. Just another example of really smart people really screwing up a good thing by over thinking it.

I am giving 1 star because the app deletes my work. Going to the home screen and clicking the app icon takes me back to the issue list instead of the issue I was viewing, and obliterates any comment I was working on. Data loss issues are the absolute worse. Hitting the app icon should never change the user's view (let alone delete their work), it should only take them back to where they were. The UX is very alien compared to the excellent web apps. Why not improve the web app instead?

Pretty good for a first stab. Feature rich, but the UI isn't always very intuitive, and there are some gaping holes. For example, you can review and merge pull requests, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to approve a pull request. I'm one of many reviewers on a specific PR, it's not up to me to merge the request, but I at least want to sign off on it. Also, the slide up panel at the bottom is kind of odd, giving us two independent scrolling regions, which is kind of weird. Other than that, it's definitely useful. Once some of those gaps get filled in, I'll be happy to come back and add that fifth star.

Main issue is the code view is quite lacking. Either you have text wrap which makes it very hard to read, or you turn it off, which makes it impossible to see anything after the right edge (you can't scroll horizontally). There's also no search feature. I think other than that it's a nice app, I can do code reviews on the go.

Great most of the time. I don't know if it's just my phone, but whenever I inadvertently open a GitHub actions link the Github app goes crazy. It's like it's in this ongoing loop (not quite infinite) trying to open the link, but it just can't do it. The open with menu continuously opens and closes, sometimes 10, 20, or even 30 times. You can't do anything until the hissy fit is over with. Then my status bar at the top of the screen starts to flicker on and off. Other than that it's great👍.

Overall the app is decent. It runs fast, and it makes access to notifications quite easy. However, there are a few very basic features missing and their absence is baffling. First of all, there needs to be a way to search the current file. Some source files are 1,000+ lines, and there's no way to navigate them at all. Regex search would be particularly nice. Second of all, there needs to be an 'Open in Browser' option on every single page.

The app is overall well laid out and easy to navigate, however, the code viewer needs some minor refactoring. When navigating code in portrait mode, the lines wrap to the left side of the viewport if it exceeds the horizontal space. Make it so that the user can scroll not only vertically, but also horizontally if the length exceeds display size. Implementing pinch-to-zoom would help immensely as well. Secondly, in portrait mode, the last digit in some 3 digit line numbers gets cut off.
