I tried TurboTax first and was dissatisfied with how expensive the total amount would've been. I'm self-employed so I know it wasn't gonna be free but it was still way too much. So I downloaded this app to compare the two and was very happy with the price and they were able to find me so many more deductions and tax breaks than TurboTax. I'll definitely be using it again next year!

This is the worst piece of software I have ever used. 1. It signs me out for no reason. This happened at least 20 times. 2. When I select on a previous years return to view the app crashes. When I click on my extension. The app crashes. 3. The camera function to upload docs did not work. Neither did the option to upload PDFs 4. It just clears fields for no reason. Then makes you enter them again. There is much, much more but unfortunately I have 500 characters

First wanted to file with credit karma for free, but they sold out to the shady cash app company that too many people report fraud about. So, then tried the turbo tax app which kept freezing up, losing my data, and giving blank screens, ugh! Finally, downloaded and tried H&R Block tax app, and every step from start to finish went smoothly and reliably. Yes, it costs a fee. But, it's not shady and it was super easy. Thanks, H&R Block!

Fast, free, almost effortless! I'm coming from Turbo Tax where I would have paid $120 for fed. taxes, state taxes, AND for filing my return to get my refund. With H&R Block, I was able to file in 40 minutes or less for $0! Turbo Tax is advertised as extremely user-friendly for beginners which is why I chose it years ago. But H&R Block is just the same! Just way more affordable and they don't keep telling you to upgrade. Thank you!

If you decide to go with one of the deluxe or higher products and then don't need the features within thise versions, it is frustratingly impossible to change back to basic. Seems like a total money grab, I feel I was somewhat cheated. would have went with another tax program if I'd had the patience to retype everything.

TurboTax started to feel like highway robbery, so I thought I'd give H&R a try. I appreciate the additional forms offered under the free addition. However, it might be a random event that I had issues being kicked from the app, and not a single file would import or upload with them yet all had no problems with TurboTax. In my personal opinion, there's room for improvement with functionality and user friendliness

Been using HR Block for years to file my family and I's taxes, I bought the first tier instead of the second tier by mistake this year and now there's no way to upgrade that I can find in the app. I usually used the disc software instead of making an account. I suppose I'll just have to make separate accounts unfortunately. Very convenient and easy to use app though, just wish there were more accessibility options like being able to upgrade tiers.

The app wasn't horrible to use. I used turbo tax first to compare. They both gave me the same refund but H&R block was $10 cheaper than Turbo Tax. H&R Block listed a free option and after clicking on the upgraded option to see what it was about, it would not let me go back to choose the free option which I didnt like. Turbo Tax was way more user friendly though. It was easier to use and simplified. My friend uses Turbo Tax and said there is a free option but I did not see it listed.

For the past 6 years I have used TurboTax. I was very upset with them last year since they charged for the state return then charged to E-file it. For a "free" tax preparation with the standard deduction, I ended up paying over $100. With the H&R Block app, it was easy to use without hidden charges. As a result, I am more likely to pay a little for them to keep my data for future years since the data is only held until November 2020 with the free program.

the app is annoying and I only used it because turbo taxes app was not loading on my phone. It wasn't able to take any images and with all the number inputting it never changes to a numbered keypad. I am honestly tempted to do turbo tax now and see which truly has the better refund. I'm annoyed I just paid 72 dollars for this, that if the app worked correctly would have been done in 30 minutes as opposed to over an hour.

Roped me into paying more this year than needed. Wouldn't allow me to edit information I needed to, or start over as a way to fix the issue. **(To the response to my review. I'm aware of how cost is determined. I checked boxes for some possible deductions, which caused the app to require me to upgrade. When they weren't explained well enough, and I was unable to use those deduction tools, I couldn't go back an unclick those and go back to my original level of filing.)

I found this way easier than turbo tax. Incomes and taxes were roundest to the nearest dollar, too. I found items on the state returns that turbo tax never even had, and it got me a way better state return. If there is one thing that needs improvement, it is the lag that occurs if you step away from the app. I had to get my bank details, and when I returned, the Green 🟢 wouldn't stop spinning. After rebooting my phone and logging in again, everything else was right where i left off. Thanks!

Awful. I usually file in store for a stress-free tax experience, but with the pandemic I decided to e-file. Damn app wouldn't list my existing emerald card account as a refund deposit option, so I guess I'll wait months for a paper check. Also when I tried to contact customer service, no associates were available to take my call. Tried troubleshooting by looking up my issue, couldn't find anyone discussing the problem because of the sheer number paid ads for the exact service I was trying to use

Could not navigate the web site. Terrible. Never had so much trouble. 1st - birthdays- had to click back 58 years TWICE. 2nd - free or plus- would not let me proceed until I chose plus. I wanted free. 3rd - Import- could not import. 4th - box 13 and 14-would not let me enter what was in those boxes. Wanted me to pick one that was incorrect. Simply put, your online app is impossible to navigate. Extremely frustrating! And, your automated inquiry could not answer a single question.

I had to download this app just to end up paying $50 three separate times, just for it to NOT file. I thought it was done three weeks ago when it said I was good. Only for notifications to start popping up reminding me to file. Waste of space DO NOT USE H&R BLOCK AT ALL. Over priced and over complicated BS Is all you'll get.

May be going somewhere else next year. The process with appointments was a bad experience and adding extensions unnecessarily and a $55 dollar pro review. I have done my taxes with them for 3 years and I always get bilked every time and I know it, just want to have them done correctly. But this experience has been below par for the course. My reviews are pretty harmless and sometimes are even favorable to my service vendors.

It's horrible!!! It was mostly good until I got forced to pay for deluxe for the health form for health coverage I'm already forced to have to avoid penalty, thanks to Obama/Democrats. Then when I paid with my card, it "timed out" so I can't even tell if my taxes are submitted. What a colossal waste of money & time!!! Also, having to verify through my phone & email each time I need to login is an absolute aggravation. It used to be easier. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

The price is ridiculous anymore so I decided to use Intuit this year. Although it costs too, it's less than H&R Block. Some of these tax preparation services say free until you get to the end and need to submit then they hit you with the fees. It's a deceptive tactic I think. I'm sure if you can afford it or are getting big a big refund it's a good app, but as for some like us folk who can't afford it, I'd rather shop around lol.

Extremely annoying bait and switch scheme. They keep trying to trick you into upselling their "plus", "deluxe" and "premium" products claiming that if you do, the returns can be higher. For many people the standard deduction is better and you just wasted money for no reason. There is no way to go back to the "plus" plan if you were tricked into their "deluxe" option. The only option is to call customer service but if you do that, you will need to start from scratch because why not...

Every single time I use the app, I have to have a verification code sent to my phone because the app states that it doesn't recognize my device. It's literally the exact same device I've used since the beginning. And I have never been able to use the Biometric Login, even though my device uses Biometrics, I have to turn it on each time I login. It simply resets and I have to go through it all over again the next time I login. It's absolutely absurd and makes me want to go elsewhere.
