I had the same experience as Jason Spicer. Cancelled the app within trial period, got charged anyway and can't get resolution! Update: I figured out that I needed to cancel the subscription on Google Play. It was supposed to be a 7 day trial. But when I re-read my subscription confirmation from Google, I only had 3 days to unsubscribe. Update: Issue was with Google Play, not Hallow. I requested a refund from GP and they granted it.

I thought I would give this app a try during the Christmas season. I liked it, but unfortunately I did not use it much. I canceled my subscription before the free trial period ended, but received a charge for $69.99 today. It's issues like this that make "free trials" untrustworthy. Update: I was very disappointed that I was charged, but after some communication with them, they stated that customer satisfaction is important and would be issuing a refund. Therefore, I've changed my 1 star to 3.

I love the lectio divina, the rosary, and daily gospel reflection. But each time I connect my phone to a Bluetooth source, the app starts without warning or permission. i log off the app but it doesn't stop playing. I have to physically close the app to get it to stop playing. but the app starts automatically when i reconnect to my car's Bluetooth or another Bluetooth source.

I actually like this app quite a bit. The audio is fantastic the meditations are great, the background music really gets me into a calm state of mind, and it's just jam-packed with content. Obviously you get the most out of it from the membership, which is pricey, but there's plenty to do for free. Prayers (with routine reminders!), songs, stories, more meditations. Pretty much everything I'd want or need in one app.

This app is amazing. There is always so much unique content as well as new content being released, and the subscription is really worth it if you feel like the free app isn't enough. I wish the app were more intuitive to navigate, especially regarding downloads, series, and favorites, but in the meantime the search feature gets me where I want to go. As for the various problems others seem to have, I haven't had those... more problems with the paid version of Spotify than with this app, tbh.

This app is a setup to get money. You have to put in credit card information to even try the free trial subscription and even when you cancel your (free) subscription they keeps trying to charge credit card. You reach out to their help line to chat and correct the issue and you only get a mass response message with suggested options to resolve. STOP TRYING TO CHARGE PEOPLE CREDIT CARDS!!!!

I love a lot about this app. Content is great & I was genuinely pleasantly surprised at the variety. But I don't think it accurately tracks my prayer time. A lot of my prayer happens at night. Even though system clocks switch to the next day at 12a, I still consider it the same night. Often it's 1230am before I get to a certain prayer. The app jumps fwd to the next day's prayer so extra clicks needed to do the right one & looks like missed a day. Wish I could set a time for date rollover.

The cost is prohibitive to me which is unfortunate cause it's a great app. I don't necessarily think it's overpriced as the yearly fee comes out to like 6 bucks a month and im sure it takes a lot of time and effort to make something this robust, and maybe I will get it in the future, I just wish there was a monthly payment option. Also don't like that you're using the Mark Wahlberg prayers as a marketing tactic. Feels icky.

Tried to register but kept getting "could not sync subscription", tried to re-install then got "already subscribed" followed by "could not sync subscription" I did not want to give 1 star because I feel this is very important and didn't want to discourage anyone from using, but I need this too and was very disappointed. - they reached out quickly and corrected, i am now able to enjoy the app

The app works well and I use it to read the bible, but the major issue for me is that while reading the bible and scrolling it'll get a bug here and there. What the bug does is skip to the next page instead of remaining in the current one until the bottom of the page is reached. It would be great if the issue could be fixed since it has persisted for a few months. UPDATE-issue seems resolved.

This has great content. I enjoy the variety of prayers and courses and I love that BIY/CIY are right here! My kids enjoy listening to the Saint stories and ask for the sleep music every night. BUT... I can't get the app to stay open. It will play for a few minutes, after the screen goes dark, it stops. When I get back in it's like I hadn't been on it. Yes, I looked on my settings for app permissions and I don't have any ability to allow or don't allow. The only permission is contacts.

Visually its very appealing. But it can be hard to find specific things, like the bible in a year can be complicated to get to sometimes. Then my biggest complaint is that if I don't finish a listening in a single sitting, when I go back to it, it's back at the beginning with no indication where I was at. It's very annoying to try to remember where I was and skipping around to find my spot.

Overall, it's a good app, very easy to use, and has all the tabs I need easily accessible. My only but, is that the app keeps stopping the sessions at random intervals, so, I'd be praying the rosary or listening to any of the meditations and devotionals, and it stops several times. I've uninstalled and re-installed the app, updated my phone's security and software, and I keep having this problem.

I absolutely enjoyed lent season of prayer. The reason I only gave it three stars is because trying to cancel a subscription from this app is extremely difficult. I can't imagine an older generation trying to maneuver these different steps. If you are charged for the subscription, you actually have to request a refund.

Terrible app. I tried the free trial and tried to end my subscription before it expired and it was no where to be found. Not on my play store, not under Google services, sent them an email, no luck. They charged me and not only can I not get my $69.99 back I can't find the subscription anywhere on my phone. What a ripoff. Can't talk to a real person. All you can get are computer generated messages. Never again! I am going to have to go to the bank and close my account. Be warned!!!

I am really enjoying this app, but it goes off while I'm in other apps. It is not open and begins to pray. I don't know how to turn off other than deleting the app. Randomly, it starts to play, and I can exit the session and slide off the screen, but I have to get out of the app I am in to go in the Hallow app to exit session. It's frustrating. Aggravating!

Beware of Charge After Free Subscription! I got notified by after the charge was applied to my card and the cancelation process is confusing and terrible. I read that once the Subscription is up and the charge goes through that you can't get your money back. I already deleted the app, so this is very frustrating. $70 is a lot of money for something I'm not using.

I have a love/hate relationship with this app. I love the content and the lenten journey was really nice. What I don't like is that it it just closes out of the app in the middle of using it, and when I connect to a speaker, the app automatically comes on and starts playing the last session I was in, when I didn't even have the app on. .... it would also be really nice to have an audio bible available on demand, like you version does.

I canceled this app before the free trial ended, yet was still charged. I emailed support to get a refund and was never responded to. Even now I can't get a confirmation that the cancellation has been processed. Think twice before doing a free trial with this app, you might be stuck with an annual subscription that you have to contest it to your credit card company as fraudulent, as I am going to sadly have to do! Very unfortunate.

I didn't find the app to be helpful for me during the free trial period. I read reviews where people were charged even after following through with canceling their subscriptions. I canceled a month early, took screenshots, and emailed support to ensure I wouldn't have this problem. However, just like the others have said, I was charged again. What an aggravating experience. I signed up through the app. There is a "Cancel my Subscription" option in app, so why have it if it's worthless?!
