More About Highway Radar

Highway Radar is an application to help drivers be aware of road hazards, cameras, and speed traps. It collects traffic-related information from multiple sources and provides notices on potential risks on the road.
Crowd-sourced alerts: Highway Radar can connect to a sever aggregating crowd-sourced alerts and show them on the map. It also issues audible voice warnings and optionally a beeper to grab the attention. Currently, the application supports alerting on speed traps and road hazards reports.

Aircraft alerts: In some countries, aircraft traffic enforcement is in use. Highway Radar collects information about air traffic around though various ADS-B exchange sites (ADSBx, OpenSky). Then it matches every aircraft to multiple registration databases and alerts drivers only on those which can potentially do traffic enforcement.

Historical data analysis: Highway Radar aggregates data about past police and speed trap reports and estimates the risk of a given area being heavily patrolled. The app also features a heat map that shows places with especially frequent speed trap reports.

Speed and red-light cameras: Highway Radar can warn the driver when approaching a traffic camera. This feature is available in the USA and Canada only.

Extra features: Highway Radar can also show you traffic jams on nearby streets and a weather radar information around you.

NOTE: This application can use accessibility service to launch other application on service start, including activating split-screen mode or preloading the application. The accessibility service isn't used for anything else but launching other applications upon service start, and only if Highway Radar is configured to do so. No data is accessed, collected, or shared in any way though the accessibility service.

The new map labels design is complete trash and blocks your view of other streets or warnings, and you can't see how bad the traffic is. Should either have a feature to turn off these big labels or revert the design back to previous version. Its so irritating and obstructing your view. Before this i would easily give this app 5 star rating. The airplane addition is very buggy now and continously has problems with the secondary connection. Please fix. edit: Thank you for fixing these issues.

I absolutely love this app. Works great and it is always on when I drive. It is my 2nd counter measure. I highly recommend it if you log miles.

Great overall, wish it had navigation integration w/Google maps or Waze so I don't have to split screen.

Excellent app. Only thing I can think of is allowing users to add aircrafts to the suspicious list. The police helicopters in my area just come up as unknown, even though I roughly know their tail numbers, it can be hard to hear when the app reads it out and says unknown at the end especially because I'm on a motorcycle and have no visual of my phone screen

At the moment it comes 2nd place in my preferred driver aid apps. I'm in Australia and by the looks its gaining popularity. Notifications are being made by users of the app. It doesn't recognize fixed speed cameras perhaps the developers can use the "Trinity 3.0"speedcamera database or something compatible with the southern hemisphere.. Also have an option for metric measurements. Anyhow I like it. And thank you for your work in getting this app up and running.. πŸ‘ πŸ‘

It seemed like a very good app, And probably is if you can ever find the Sabre APK that it needs to run and download it. I've spent WAY too much time surfing some message board where they seem to really want to chitchat about cop detection but nobody wants to JUST TELL YOU where to find and download this mysterious APK. When I finally did locate it, it tells me I don't have permission to view this page 🀬. This BS is easy too much trouble for me. I'm probably going to Uninstall this crazy mess

I just bought a new Uniden R8 radar detector and loaded and configured this app. The app saved me a big ticket in the first day! I was driving on the highway though Ohio and the app warned me about police ahead so I adjusted my speed accordingly. Well sure enough there was an Ohio State Trooper using instant on laser and he gunned me with it. My new R8 detector went off but if I didn't have this great Highway Radar app, I may have gotten a big ticket! Many thanks to the developers!!

Love the app works great. Except the latest 5/30 beta. Launches and and as soon as map loads it closes/crashes. I did all of the unusual debugging. In the initial setup all seems fine but as soon as the map loads it crashes.

Whatever the last update did, the aircraft and helicopters tracking doesn't work anymore, just shows a still image of a plane or helicopter but no real time movement.

Cool except it doesn't have enough users in my city to make the live updates work well enough. Needs to integrate with Google maps.

I love this app and got an Android phone to use it! Couple improvements to suggest: When speed traps are reported on perpendicular roads (ones not traveling on) it gives the speed limit as the one being currently on. Example, driving on a highway with 65mph limit and warning for a speed trap at a side road with 25mph but app voice says speed limit 65. Not sure how it could be fixed, maybe not mention speed limit on roads not currently being driven on. Other than that this app is amazing!

Phenomenal concept and brilliant partial execution....stopped short by lack of compatibility with Android Auto. If you feel safer every time you add another led screen to the inside of your car then this is the app for you... Otherwise just use Waze and wait for someone else to finish this concept. It's so close to perfection, the fact they stopped short is astonishing. What a shame.

This is a very helpful app. I do have a suggestion. When the connection is lost, we often do not realize it until we happen to look down and see a message, as we are paying attention to the road. Perhaps a notification error tone when the connection is lost, or a "radar sweep" while the app is active so that we know the app is not functioning if there is no sweep on the screen... or something beyond just the small orange square in the corner. Just a thought. Thanks!

Awesome app!!! Came here from rdf and I'm so happy to see how quick the developer is to make changes and better the experience for everyone. It started off great and every update makes it better. No app can match this right now. With waze and the plane alerts you have an enormous database of alerts and unparalled alert distance. Waze is great but half the time it wont alert for me and when it does, its way too close. Highway Radar is super customizable and offers what no other app does.

The app is pretty great, I don't think I've drove without it in the past year. Even if you're not using it to avoid speed traps, being alerted about cars on the side of the road, potholes, roadkill, etc is very useful and has allowed me to prepare so I didn't have to take emergency action to avoid hitting obstacles a number of times. My only complaint is how the app really wants to rotate to portrait mode more than any other app I have, I have yet to figure out why this happens.

The Gold Standard in App development. I have used this for a while, but using it on a road trip now, I've had time to think and appreciate this app for what it is. It's exactly what you want, exactly when you need it, all the features you need, VERY well executed controls, which is very important for an app that might get used while driving. More specifically, it's got traffic density, cop density, weather, speed limits, *aircraft, helpful audio alerts, and all the settings you could ever want.

I just tried out highway radar for the first time on my VLINE2 unit in my 2018 TLX. Like JBV1 the challenge is to find a way to scroll down and accept the agreement. On JBV1 it takes awhile but it works... With Highway Radar I keep getting a webview error and end up with a blank box and greyed out button... So far have not been able to run the app. Help!

Extremely useful and feature filled app. No ads, no subscriptions, no charges of any kind. A whole lot of time and work put into an app with the author getting essentially nothing in return for his effort. Your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed! Thank you!

It worked great on my drive from SC to Florida. I was able to get advanced warnings of police the whole time. I would get an alert when the police were 3.5 miles away. Using it for normal driving at home doesn't work because it alerts for police in the vicinity, but no where I'm going. Overall, it works great for the highway. Please read the instructions before giving up. I followed the instructions and it worked great.
