Booked a hotel through the app at a good deal, got to the hotel three hours later (Portland downtown Hilton) and the hotel informed me they won't honor the deal because hotwire put it in wrong. So I contacted hotwire and they said they couldn't reach the hotel, which seems like a lot of garbage. I had to get a room anyway, because like I said I'm out of town and don't have time to price other options. I took the refund from hotwire but it didn't make up the difference in what I paid. Garbage 🗑

solid app. You can get a feel of how the app works in order to get a hotel which is a decent price and is still of good quality. Also the car rental discounts are excellent. The only time I had a problem with a Hotwire booking was when the hotel refused to honor it, Hotwire got me a room in a hotel close by for a similar price and even gave me a discount of a nights off. Oh, and they WILL save you money.

I've been a huge fan of hotwire for years. Their "hot rates" used to be the best. You would get nice hotel rooms at unpublished rates as long as you prepaid, and agreed to book before seeing the name of the hotel. The last couple of years they've just become gimmicky with no actual value provided. You can go to Costco travel, or the hotel website itself and prepay for the same room and the cost after fees and taxes is the same or better than hotwire.

Hotwire is great for Hotels but not for car rentals. I've used Hotwire to book hotels for years, but after 3 (very frustrating) attempts to rent a car through them I've decided to stop using Hotwire. Over the last year, I've had the same experience of booking a car to only later find out at the rental agency that they don't have that car available. This has wasted so much time and money. While Hotwire has refunded me each time, it is only after hours of waiting followed by needed to call the insurance company (Allianz) to separately request my refund for insurance... which was book through the Hotwire app! Working with Allianz was a nightmare and I only got a refund for one of the 3 incidence. This is no way to do business.

I have been a long time customer (years and several car rentals) but wont be back. I was able to book a car and 2 weeks later they had a rate that would be $100+ cheaper. This is the we have you and we only cater to new people deal. So instead of changing my reservation that are keeping my money and not changing the reservation to the lower rate. Enjoy that extra $$ this trip i will never be back. This is what they call great custimer service.

Horrible, csr wasted time and was no help. App is really glitchy. Applied my promo code then took it off after checkout. Straight bait and switch tactic. Could've saved a lot of time and a little extra money just booking directly with the hotel. With all the competition with travel apps now, there is no need to use hotwire anymore and deal with their shady business tactics.

No longer reliable. I've used hotwire for rental cars for 20 years and they have screwed me on two trips in a row. The last trip they told me the vendor was on-airport, and it was not. Required an added hour each direction waiting for a second shuttle. I rented today's car 19 hours ago. I foolishly clicked a "hot rate" which is not cancelable. The prices are half today. Half. Thanks for taking care of me, Hotwire. @#$& you.

Horrible, I put in a reservation for a rent a car. When I arrived to the airport for the car rental agency was closed and I was left without a car. I contacted Hotwire though the app and they refused to refund any of my money. So basically Hotwire took my money and didn't provide with an option with a replacement rental car until the NEXT DAY! So I had to pay again to a different rent a car service or I would have been stuck at the airport till the NEXT MORNING. STAY AWAY FROM HOTWIRE!!!

This app is completely unusable. I have a current reservation that I can see when I login to the website, yet the app does not show anything. When attempting to do anything, the app times out or doesn't complete the transaction, and I have a mystery charge on my credit card. I will definitely not be using this app again once my trip is complete.

Awful app, even worse customer service. It has a filter for preferences. I clicked all of the necessities for my accommodation and the suggestions it gave me took none of those items into consideration. What I ended up w/ was a two-night stay at a sub par hotel with a room that was almost 90° with the AC on high. Customer svc. was awful, unprofessional and non-accommodating. I will never ever use hot wire again it was one of the worst travel experiences of my life and I canceled the 2nd left.

I specifically searched and booked an oceanfront hotel so that my children and I would be able to walk to the beach quickly and safely. This was my first trip alone with kids so I was very specific about what I wanted/needed. The hotel ended up nowhere near the ocean, 4+ miles, or a 15-20 min drive. Ive contacted Hotwire cust. service several times. The only thing they'll offer for their mistake is a $25 credit. This place is a fraud!!

Been using hotwire for a decade. Never again after my recent rental car experience. There were 500+ people in line for Thrifty whereas the other rental companies had no line. Looked online and the rates with Enterprise were identical for a last minute rental as what I paid to prebook through hotwire a couple weeks earlier. Took me 90 minutes to reach the counter. Of course no refunds, can't get ahold of anyone, and it kept giving an error in the app when I tried to pull up my reservation.

We've had mostly good experiences with hotwire. any bad experiences have been taken care of by their exceptional customer service. Be aware that the difference between a 3 star hotel and 2.5 is significant and can be potentially dangerous. (wish i were joking). we only book 3 and above and even then we try to keep it at 3.5 or higher. Happy travels!

I have used Hotwire for 20 years. Used to get good deals but now the deals aren't good and they use deceptive tactics. Last deal was supposed to be "3star all suites hotel". The hotel didn't have any suites! I called to get it changed or money back. They said they would cancel the reservation if I would pay them a $60 cancellation fee! I think they should be paying me. Remember you are stuck once you pay and the deals aren't what they say they are.

DONT BOOK A SUITE! Over the years had great exp. booked 12+ trips, no problems. Had a rough experience with the hotel I booked(Almost 2hr check-in) got to the front and they oversold their rooms and downgraded us to what they had left, but had to charge the extra price I paid for a suite since it was paid through Hotwire. Called Hotwire and they said I didn't book a suite & that I was only guaranteed a room for 2 even though the front desk confirmed I paid more for the suite. Never again.👎

When entering destinations, search would not appear for me to select. Got really frustrating. Map resolution was off. When I entered Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico in the off chance that search was able to work, it presented me with an area directly south of the city by several km claiming that it was the city center. The mobile experience was so off-putting, I chose to use a different service.

Twice, this app has left me to sleep in my car. Not only was the hotel room hotwire had supposedly reserved for me unavailable for my check-in, but after spending hours on the phone with their customer service, whose English was hardly understandable, while standing in the hotel lobby, they were unable to resolve ANYTHING! And it was too late by that time to check in anywhere else! Best part about it is im still waiting a month later to be refunded. Tighten up Hotwire, you lost me for good!

Never had a real problem with the app. Booking has always been a smooth transaction! HotRate deals are amazing!!! My 1 issue is that certain locations have resort fees and Hotwire dosen't include that in the rate when searching. Hotwire says I'm getting a room for $99/night when it's really $121/nt because of the $22/nt "resort fee" that was excluded. Wish they would just tell the total cost per night including fees. Nobody cares about the breakdown, we just want to know how much it is!

Bait and switch. They showed some nice hotels, then booked me in a Holiday Inn with absolutely horrible reviews. The Holiday Inn was NOT on the list of hotels offered at that price. Now I'm being told, because it was a hot deal, I can't get a refund. Total bait and switch. Hotwire has changed. It used to be if they listed the hotels, only those hotels would be the ones. They switched me to one, not on the list. Go with another app.

The app has a bug or two. Just as another review said, booking goes swimmingly. But after you have no record of your booking. Error message saying it cannot connect to "My Trips." Also get a weird copy icon as if you just selected something to copy. This shows up when you first open the app or when you refresh. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked properly for like 1 minute. Then it started bugging out again. I hope it's fixed soon.
