Check deposit has not worked for 3 months now, it will not scan the back of a check. As that my main reason for having the app it is now useless. Update - it seems they made some changes and the check deposit works ok now. HSBC also tried contacting me to help out so that was nice. Bump up to 4 stars. Could be a 5 if the UI was better.

I've been waiting over a half hour for this mandatory update. I really need ed to log in fast. Most disappointing there was no update later option. I just need a code. HSBC - there is a reason sometimes business need to access their account without being held prisoner by a smart phone app.

Developers should focus on fixing or improving the app not making silly changes in the name of security! I suddenly can't use Google's own Gboard keyboard and have to use the useless built in one from my phone manufacturer in the name of security?? The manufacturer's keyboard tracks more and is less trusted if anything! What are you trying to protect here??

EDIT: I have tried taking a picture of a cheque on a dark background and still had the same issue. I've turned the lights off in my office and this didn't make a difference either. On my old phone I almost never was able to capture a cheque image but on my new phone the app takes pictures prematurely and I have to take 3 or 4 images sometimes before it is accepted.

Cannot pay beneficiary that is saved in my online banking. There's no list of beneficiaries. This is an essential requirement of an online banking app. HSBC is slow in keeping up with technology. Update: 2 years later and it is still not possible to pay my beneficiaries. HSBC is one of the world's biggest and most profitable banks yet cannot add basic features to its app. Downgrading my rating from 2 stars to 1 star. Update in 2024 - this app is still awful. I still can't pay people using it.

Multi-factor authentication is one thing, but this app prompts you to enter your password, which has absurd security guidelines that do not even make it more secure, in order to create a PIN, and then won't let you do anything -- and I mean anything -- without re-entering that password AND forcing you to allow location data to even login. HSBC is miles behind every other bank in Canada. I hope RBC destroys all of their products and we can all pretend this horrendous establishement never existed.

This app works for checking balances and is very useful for generating a security code without carrying an additional device with you. However, you cannot authorise or create payments or pay in cheques (apparently this can be done using you phone camera on the business banking app). Also, it really should log the user out after a period of inactivity like most personal/private banking apps do.

Update: had to completely uninstall app,reboot phone, reinstall app, redo login biometrics etc. Now works. Still doesn't show payees inside the app. Funny how this billion dollar bank can't afford competent app developers. This app forces an update and then no longer works. Log on code page won't load. Payee page won't list payees so I can't pay anyone from the app itself or the web interface. This is a BUSINESS account app!! What in the ever loving eff!! Why are we beta testing your app?!

Worst banking app I've ever used. Crashes regularly trying to Mobile deposit checks. Over the past year I've submitted probably three dozen crash reports and nothing has changed. And every time it crashes or even when it doesn't register the picture, you have to go all the way back to the beginning and do it all over again. Takes me regularly 10 to 15 minutes to deposit a single check.

Terrible app to use. I have to log in and out and then back in, otherwise the balance screen is blank. I have a saved payee (my personal account) and now I can no longer use that to deposit funds on the mobile app. If you switch to a different app on your phone to check an address or details the app reverts back to the main screen meaning you have to fill out all the info again. When fill out all details correctly it says the date is incorrect despite being set to "Pay ASAP" (the default value).

Possibly the worst app from a major bank that I've ever seen. Hard to believe a company as sophisticated as HSBC hasn't figured out that customers use mobile devices these days (and for the past decade or more) to do their banking. If only a small portion of the large bonuses they pay themselves could be channeled into their software development team... Shockingly substandard. About to uninstall... Now!

The app limits what you can otherwise do online via web banking. Ex. Can't change Standing Orders. Makes it conditional to access your account by forcing you to agree to updates to banking T&C else blocks access. Ex. Go paperless, or else. Limited access to Statements and account activity (last 30days). Times out, asks if you want to stay logged in and logs you off anyway. Full of ads for other services/loans. Often Hijacks top half of screen to display notifictions it wants you to see.

after the recent update; i'm unable to open the web notification link while attempting to log in to net banking. it open only security code but it face issue when i have to add new beneficiary it required only web notification approval

Horrible app! They always "force" an update every week or almost and each time I need to re-enter my creditials / including biometrics. It's over the top. It takes way too much time just to get my balance. It's pointless and unproductive... I can't take any screenshots for my records. The list goes on... HSBC should look at what the other banks are doing!

Really useful tool for business banking when away from a PC. We use mulitistep authorisation routinely; it just keeps working. No error messages for several months, now. One limitation - some accounts are not accessible in HSBCnet, e.g. loan accounts, money market deposits. We use the Business UK app for those.

Pretty awful experience so far. Terrible UI, slow loading and a torrent of menus to go through. Setting up payments has never been so frustrating, especially when there're so many restrictions when creating beneficiaries. Not impressed.

Slow and low capability. It can't even do simple things like remember cutomer login names... I think a reflection of banking with HSBC. Below average. One of the worst banking app experiences I've had.
