The app is simple and user friendly. BUT just recently I found out that the quality of video backed up to iDrive Photos is drasticaly reduced if the same video is deleted from phone. So, my thinking is: what is the purpose of backing up videos and photos if video quality is degraded upon deleting the same from phone (in order to make space in phone storage). Developers, any idea why is this so and how to fix it?

Please add option to throttle bandwidth. Thanks to the developers, many things have been fixed, but the app seems to take all the bandwidth and phone cpu. Whenever I turn on the sync the internet and phones become much slower in response. This problem happens in Samsung Xiaomi and apple products that tested. Please add an option to prioritize the bandwidth for other apps when in use.

Impossible to upload multiple photos/videos at once. I recently subscribed as I was looking for a good option to keep my photos/videos safe. I selected photos to upload for about a month (approx 250) but none are getting uploaded. I tried wifi and cellular data... Nothing ! The notification remains on "uploading 1/250" and it's been over a week! I am very disapointed. If I cannot fix this soon, i'll cancel my subscription.

Great start Idrive! Add these features and you'll have won me over. 1) make search real. Right now it's just a filtered for photos vs videos, not actually a search. 2) add image recognition + metadata recognition capability so we can start searching for people, places, things. 3) help us clear space on our phones by enabling local file deletion once backed up..... And that's it. Impressed for a first launch. Excited to see what's coming up.

Good app but lacks some features. If following 3 features added then I will definitely buy. 1. Album Option: If given this option I can create albums of particular event. 2. There is no option to upload a particular photo or video and particular folder. It generally uploads all photos videos which consume a lot data and time. 3. If I have video file of 4-5 gb want to exclude from uploading, then there is no option.

It has exciting potential to become a very substantial player thanks to its blazingly fast upload engine, beating the likes of Google Photos and Microsoft OneDrive. However, it is still in its infancy regarding functionality once photos and videos are backed up: 1. Folder selection for backup - most unnecessary photos are backed up anyway in WhatsApp so no need for double backup. 2. Lacks the option to free up space in device after backup. 3. Lacks AI indexing and tagging engine (Geo, face recognition) and sorting by these parameters.

It continuously tries to auto upload. Restarting doesn't fix it. Force stop and restart doesn't work. Only thing I haven't tried is to uninstall then reinstall.

I could not find an option to exclude specific folders/albums to prevent it from uploading. In terms of pricing, this is by far the best app to backup photos, but I definitely don't want to mess my personal photos/videos with all the whatsapp 'BS' I receive. That's a real pity, it would be extremely simple to develop such feature. Ironically, most reviews here say about the same thing, but apparently customers are simply ignored.

I used it for about a week, but I had to uninstall it. It was uploading my entire photo collection, not only the new ones, several times a day. Support advised me the reinstall it, but that didn't change anything. During the uploads, it was consuming a lot of battery power and the phone was heating up...it was quite annoying. I like that is cheaper, compared to similar solutions, but it's unusable to me, because of the issue mentioned above.

Update March 23, 2024: installed on a new phone, and after taking a while to supposedly scan files, it hasn't uploaded any files and videos. It displays the check mark saying everything is uploaded, but I only see previously uploaded files displayed. Clearing data and uninstall/reinstall has not corrected this. Please help

Is this a legitimate replacement for Google photos because already in testing it I cannot see any way to create albums and there is no geolocation data or meta data. It just scrambles all your photos and lumps them into one big homogeneous soup. As a professional photographer with over 60,000 hi res images ready to upload and organize that would be a complete disaster for me.

Good but would be great if the app take the metadata information like location and also would be great to see file details (location, size, type, etc) in the app. Also, if you already have purchased a plan, the notifications inside the app regarding that free trial has expired and upgrade plan should not appear.

Auto upload does not work on WiFi or cell, data from 2 weeks ago still not uploaded even tho it knows it has to upload it. Never does. App needs work it's way behind other cloud services and not reliable.

Edit: They made a bug fix 1 day after signaling the issue, very good team of devs. Original: I paid a yearly subscription but on my new phone it's saying that my device is unsupported. (Pixel 8 Pro) I can't access or backup my photos anymore. Need a fix ASAP. thx

Awesome but confusing - good pricing BUT not sure if I'm getting the best use because the instructions and video tutorials aren't helpful. I want to download my photos and documents and music off my phone and not keep them on my phone anymore, & share those pictures to others or move them to a different laptop - can I do that???

it's affordable and works for the most part. It glitches and stops uploading in the background until you physically open the app again. I've complained about this going on 3 years now. Edit, in every technical support phone call, more than 10. Not one Tech said this. If this is the case.... Your Tech support personal need way better training. I've spent 3 years on this bloody issue

Ultimately not worth it. It just needs a basic feature to choose what to automatically back up and it then becomes workable. But as you may be able to tell from the reviews, this app doesn't let you do that and hasn't let you for a long period of time. Note that I am a paying customer, not the trial version so there is not an improvement there. I am also unable to upload particular photos for backup. I'm going to have to find another alternative to Gphotos.

It does everything I wanted: one click backup of all the media on my phone, web portal, affordable price... but the autobackup stops working after a few hours. Start the app up again and it works for a few more hours. Talked to support and they recommended turning auto off and then on again and a phone restart, but it didn't help. This is on an s21 running Android 11. I'll come back after a few more versions, I guess. I really hope this app works out, because everything else tries way too hard.

Needs some critical features before becoming a game changer 1. Select which folders to automatically back up from. No Whatsapp or messages. 2. Option to clean/remove local photos and videos after successfully backed up. 3. Albums, groups 4. Sort by location, date 5. Ability to rate photos up to 5 star in addition to existing favorite capabilities and apply tags to further sort by. 6. Ability to find matching faces and ai search for content (nice to have but not absolutely necessary).

This app is pretty foolproof and simple to use. That's both a strength but primarily a weakness. Upon discovering photos "backed up" from my phone, I found out the app backs up EVERY photo on your phone not just from your camera. Photos that other people posted in WhatsApp were being backed up for Idrive Photos. I have yet to discover a way to stop this. Also, user is not able to download (to PC) a group of photos like in Google or File Explorer. This is a BIG pain!
