Used to be one of the most important apps on my phone, over the years it's become slow, bloated and ad ridden to the point of annoyance. Constant nagging to log in everytime it's opened. Started when Amazon bought it, steady decline ever since. With all the information it provides being easier to find elsewhere it's more of a hassle than it is useful.

I love this app, have used it for years. The movie and tv show information is always on point and the trivia is one of my favorite features. However, lately it has been very buggy. It freezes on the home tab preventing you from scrolling vertically if you stop on "picks for you" or "your watchlist". It does the same thing on the "You" tab as soon as you click on it, cannot scroll vertically. Please fix and I will adjust rating.

6/8/22...still love the app. I wish accessing search did not require 2 clicks. I use the app a lot and it's one of those frustrating things that bug me every single time I use it. Works great... Prefer the app to the online version. It would be great if you could put a link to Google... I always go there to read additional information and look up pictures.

I'm editing my review: As an update, this app has become unusable. It doesn't even load anymore and if it does, it's random at best. There's too many ads that get in the way too often and frequent. Also the UI involves too much clicking around to get information. Desktop version is still the best yet. Developers need to mimic desktop UI with less clicks and better usability.

UPDATE: It's still great for information but the free videos aren't great. You cannot cast the videos to another device and you can't even display a video if you share your phone's screen to a tv. They have purposely force you to watch everything only on your phone. It is my go to app for anything related to TV or Movies. Tons of information and easy to use. Now you can watch movies with it too. I still would like an add free version but it isn't that critical to remove a star.

v8.5.7- The standard operation is excellent for all sorts of TV and movie research, although the interface has gotten a bit cluttered. I find the "where to view" streaming options very useful and well integrated. The movie theater information is more of a secondary function, best accessed from watch list items or other lists (new releases, top box office, etc). There are other apps that are much better if you just want to browse your local theaters.

There is no "find in page" that I can see, which makes it difficult to jump to a particular quote or cast entry. Has some features that cause pages loads to be slow and eat data allowance, but can't be disabled. For example, the search box tries to match as you type, and there is an embedded media widget that autoplays near the top of most pages. Some if the ads are quite large and intrusive. Occasionally crashes when trying to load a page.

I have been using IMDb for over a decade and the website is extremely helpful. The app I've had for about 5 years and it keeps getting worse. It takes FOREVER to load anything, freezes, crashes, doesn't respond to scrolling or clicking, skips when it does scroll, opens up things I didn't click on. I can't understand why this app has had problems for so long and hasn't been fixed, only getting worse. I'm finally, after 5 years of hoping for the best, am uninstalling and just using the web page.

I used this app for years to do two things: explore upcoming movies, and look up cast members of movies while reading into folks careers. In both flows, I would copy and paste the name of the film or person into a list making app or into Google so I could read further. Guess what? You can't copy paste out of this app anymore. I assumed it was a bug when they revamped so I kept trying for a while. But no, looks like a deliberate choice. App is now useless.

I thought it was a pretty good app at first, but then they were spamming me with too many emails and I couldn't unsubscribe because I couldn't go to their website with the app installed (the link from my email would fail every time, it happened on both of my phones), so I had to uninstall it to stop the emails. It's really stupid that there's no way to change that presences from the app and I don't want to have anything to do with a company that has so little regard for my privacy.

In the preferences section they're missing so many of the big streaming platforms. YouTube, Acorn, Roku, Britbox, etc. And I hate when I want to watch something, IMDb shows me my choices, I choose prime or Netflix, etc.; and it'll take me to the app, but a completely different show/movie starts playing! Are there any apps, to get correct info and who doesn't have their hands in the pockets of certain companies, because IMDb has gotten steadily worse over time! Useless and untrustworthy!

Frustrating. First, the search functionality, which used to be prominent on the front page, is on a separate tab requiring extra touches to access. Second, the trailers on pages for movies and actors, fills 1/4 of the screen when a page loads and frequently just start playing. And finally, and most worryingly, I can't rely on the data. For instance, Dan Stevens is listed in the page for the new Godzilla movie, but the movie doesn't appear on his page.

I'm always looking up something about a show, a movie, or someone in a role. connecting histories is fun too. find some crazy early acting credits for some well known names that's for sure. I like the ratings both from others and the ones of my own. and it's nice to keep track of the things I've seen, an remind myself the things I want to see.

It's a great app except for the fact that if you move away to another app and come back to imdb later, it will lose your place and open on the home screen. Super frustrating! Everything else is 5 stars. (Reply to dev: at least 2 minutes. Other apps have no time limit.) When I get notifications like a movie on my watch list is leaving a streamer, if I tap on the notification it just takes me to the app home screen, not the movie page where to get more info. All of the notifications do that.

Overall a poorly designed app and bad UX. First, the forced sponsored trailer at the top of the screen does not stay in its place while scrolling down and blocks a good portion of the screen while overlapping actual content. When it finally disappears l, it shifts each section, forcing you to find where you left off. Second, the details for a listing feels random and makes searching for a specific detail tedious, the intertwined ads/sponsored content doesn't help. Theres more but Im out of chars

I love the app! I keep track of movies/shows I want to watch, that I've seen & then review them. I use the ☆ratings when looking for something new to watch. Constructive Feedback-I think there could be better functionality, as the app lags/I'll get error messages occasionally. I wish the app was more connected w/ production company reward/loyalty programs, maybe w/ capability to be able to earn rewards for being more interactive w/ the app, answering trivia, reviewing movies etc.

I LOVE this app and use it almost daily! I love looking up actors/actresses and finding out what they've been in, what they are working on, adding things to my watch list, and looking up trivia about all my favorite movies, shows, and celebrities. My one complaint that is SUPER annoying, that only began recently with an update, that when I am in an actor's filmography, and I add something to my watch list, it takes me ALL THE WAY back up to the top of the list. Please fix. It's really annoying.
