Jellyfin as a service and a program? Amazing, even when i do have issues its usually easy enough to fix myself. And the fact its free is amazing as well, nothing but respect for the devs This app? Usually decent, but subtitles tend to be really buggy for the app. And it makes watching alot of my shows a pain on my phone. Subtitles either have a hard time loading or load in the wrong order. If thats fixed id easily give a 5

Absolutely awesome. It would be great to have the option to 'stop playback on headphone unplug/disconnect'. right now, music just keeps playing. update: release mention 'pause on disconnect', but its not working with Bluetooth. i havent tested wired headphones. my version is 0.91. Update*** Unreal, great, new update makes the app better.

Connects well to home server, good interface for regular users, but could use some UI refinement in the admin space. Moving buttons are a slight annoyance there from screen to screen. Playback is very good, especially given ISP upload rate restrictions for on-the-go home networking. Doesn't kill my old laptop-turned-server when transcoding with ffmpeg. Security is a work in progress, no TOTP support off the bat, but has LDAP support. This may be the biggest area that needs improvement.

The app does pretty well for playing movies but I find myself must often playing music in it and the Android Auto support leaves quite a bit to be desired. There's no option to shuffle if I start a playlist from my phone, I can't control playback through Android Auto, Android auto also doesn't seem to resume the last playlist that I was listening to when I get back in the car.

Love that the app is open source and it works great on my phone for playing music except when it decides to randomly exit. The non-dismissible notification disappears and the app forgets all semblance of where it was in my playlist when I shut off the screen. I set the power usage to Unrestricted but it hasn't helped. I also have spotty service so when I'm out and about and it loses connection to the server it automatically goes back to the server input dialog. Hoping it gets better with time.

Phenomenal app that just works perfectly without any fluff. This is so much better than Plex, and I am very impressed. Quick tip, though: switch to the integrated media player in the settings instead of the default web player. It plays native hardware decoded HEVC that way. Better performance and battery life that way for certain files.

I love this software, but it gets frustrating sometimes with integration. I caught my chromecast updating the other day and then subtitles stopped working. I tried updating jellyfin and now playback doesn't work entirely for chromecast because the cast button is unable to be selected due to overlap with phone soft keys that are now always present. I had to revert to a version from 2021. Irritating to say the least.

Great app and works great with the Jellyfin server when at home. Still exploring ways to be able to access it via the app when not home. The criticism I have for the app is when I'm listening to music it sometimes gets stuck at the end of a song and I have to hit the next button. Please fix this, other than that the app itself works amazingly well.

would love it if there was an equalizer but I get that it's still a WIP so that might not come until later. and I'm unsure if this is a common issue but while I don't have a problem with playback in any other condition, I can't seem to get the app to continue playing music even if the screen is off. Data Saver is NOT on, and nothing else is blocking data while my screen is off. so unless there's some option that I'm missing, music playback is limited when the screen on your phone is off.

With the demise of Play Music, I thought I was going to have to get an MP3 player to maintain ownership of my music, but Jellyfin single-handedly rescued me and also gave me even greater control over my media collection. Server is not easy to set up, but it works great. The app is almost identical to the Web interface and is pretty intuitive. My biggest complaint—and I think the devs agree—is the poor implemention of music features compared to video features. (Also note that Jellyfin is a WIP.)

Have been using jelly fin for about 2 years. Never had an issue on the phone until this month. Stuff plays, but the picture freezes. Problem came out of nowhere. The audio is still going. If I tap my phone the picture catches up. If I tap my phone constantly there's no issue. As soon as I stop tapping, picture freezes again and audio continues. Anyone know a fix? It's working on all other devices still.

Love Jellyfin! I moved away from Plex and the only thing holding it back is if you're casting, and turn subtitles on or off it'll end the video. There is also a bug where the player controlls will stay on the screen and the only way to fix it is restart the video. Edit: it cast great to the desktop MVP client. Casting directly to a tv is where my issues rise, but it's might just be an issue on my end.

Watching from my phone works just fine, but I really only use the app to cast to the Chromecasts in my home. I can always start something, but after a while the app will act like it's not connected anymore, and you can't just select the Chromecast and be good. So pausing, rewinding, or even stopping is pretty much impossible after you start. Live TV is really finicky too. Any disruption to the OTA signal and you have to select the channel all over again.

I tried Kodi, Plex and a couple of other media server software. Each one had major issues, from simply not playing all videos and not recognizing many TV shows, to requiring specific and difficult folder arrangements for shows to appear in the listings at all. I tried Jellyfin out of frustration. Amazingly, it worked perfectly the first time out. I just drop videos into a folder, and the system downloads pics of the show and all metadata immediately; it even finds clips of even the most arcane movies to preview. The remote on my phone works perfectly as well. All told, I think Jellyfin is far and away the best free (or paid) media server out there. Its ease of installation (virtually none) and good looking interface makes it a no-brainer choice for a media server. Kudos to the developers, keep up the great work!

This app is fully functional with a moderate to high level of stability. Connections are quick and fairly easy and casting works as intended, and movies/tv playback works as intended with only minor hiccups. The music player needing some definite work (this is FOSS and no I can't make something better but am looking to contribute in other ways) combined with occasional connection issues is what stops me from giving a full 5 but I'm confident these issues will be resolved in the future.

My name is Travis, and I've been Plex-free for 2 months now! Before I say more, IMPORTANT NOTICE: Switch to "Integrated Player" in Settings->Client Settings. It's a WAY better experience, and is what allowed JF to replace Plex for me! (With the default Web Player option selected, performance is bad & there's no PiP! Integrated fixes it.) A thing I miss from Plex is the video preview thumbnails. But not enough to go back! One feature I enjoy now is variable playback speed. (Oh, and fewer bugs!)

Absolutely great when it works. Definitely recommend getting it. Only minor issues as well: Sometimes video playback is very laggy and stutters when playing back on a S22 Ultra. Casting used to be pretty finecky and a previous update completely broke it. Now it's suddenly working again, but am unsure if there was an update or not that fixed it lol. However, this app is great, and once things are fully fleshed out for jellyfin as a whole, I'm sure this will be 5+ stars!

This app was what I wanted from Plex. Now I can watch my content wherever I go without worry of my memory. However, I have encountered moments when playing my media where the play and skip backward buttons disappear. I also don't see the seek buttons at all despite activating them in the settings. Hopefully, this is fixed in an update.

Good start. Listening to music works decent with rare stuttering (probably can be fixed with increase cache size). Live TV doesn't work well at all with playback error no stream available with tvheadend using hstp and is very slow when using the webtv profiles but watching recordings works fine. (I think it might just be the plugins fault). An offline mode that can download music with playlists, tv shows and recordings, and movies would make this the ultimate package. keep up the good work.

Great DIY media server client! Coming from Plex, Jellyfin has been an empowering experience while recreating my media server. This app seems to work well so far too. Streaming and downloading content has worked without any major issues. I haven't tried casting to a TV yet, but it seems to have that functionality. All the server customizing features have a bit of a learning curve though. Naming my files to be identified correctly was a bit of a hassle for example.
