Needs improvement. The app interface is not well thought out. It works better on the computer. The guided navigation either prompts too much or not at all. It will frequently miss trail turns. It consumes massive amounts of battery compared to similar apps. Loses GPS signal sometimes. I regret paying 29.99 despite its recommendation by GMBN. I can use other apps that work better and are free. If could get a refund I would. Strava, Garmin, Sunto, Wahoo and others work better.

Best Outdoor-App out there for my needs. But its usefulness depends as much on the community and their shared recordings, pictures and tips for improvements as on the komoot-team. For the US there is still not a community as big as within Europe. The US database of trails, tours & highlights is smaller but it grows at a good pace - the same can be said about the details and accuracy of the maps in the app.

So i would love to give this a 5. The interface and usability of the app are top notch. Probably one of the best out there. Here is why i can't: 1) when letting the app design a route, it chooses double track and fire road over single track every time. This is entirely backwards given what I assume is the target audience. At the very least there should be a setting to prefer one or the other. 2) lack of trail coverage. Granted this would improve if more people used it in my area.

Wasted potential. This app should have export to GPX but it just doesn't work and they boast that it's a fresh feature. Haha. Also other things are so not intuitive. I save possible options for hikes and when I want to look at the list it's sorted in a strange order you just don't find your home. Etc etc etc. So cumbersome! The team needs to learn about UI and usability.

So this app is an excellent idea wrapped in never ending experience of frustrating design and poor UI experience. Frustration point one; the route it generates completely covers the names of the streets. Seriously..??, unless I'm just missing something??? Two; when I'm going for a road ride I don't want to ride through the city, stop signs, intersections, lights, traffic, none of it! Komoot should be smart enough to figure this out but sadly no, so the routes it builds are much useless...

Great for planning land outdoor adventures. Overall, a better tool than its closest rival, RideWithGPS as it Komoot provides a better planning engine, better contrast in its maps, and better ride metrics. However, its maps are often hopeless out of date (the 'komoot road' that existed 30 yrs ago), doesn't allow you to name waypoints or create POIs or custom cues. It also doesn't offer a way to pin or star selected routes which a device like a Wahoo can use to limit the list of routes - vital.

This app is very frustrating. It's not easy to move around the waypoints when adjusting a route. It auto adjusted my route and I couldn't figure out how to go back to my original saved route. How do you even exit the editing section??? I'm not usually slow to learning new apps so I don't think it's me. It's just not user friendly. I like how it tells you different info about your trip.. if you can even make the trip on the app...

A stated purpose of this app is to plan cycling routes. It showed promise with long pressing points on a map to trace a route i terms of segments. I really thought this app would be great, but no. After I entered a few points, it arbitrarily chose a new way of linking the segments and inserted random changes in direction. I end up with weird loops within loops. It also would not honor my starting point. It did this no matter how tightly I spaced the segments. Julia, it still doesn't work...

pausing on my tour to write this out of frustration. pretty good. buggy as hell. voice nav needs work. often it will tell me to "turn left" when that really means "stay on the road you're on and don't turn right". also doesn't know how to count roundabout exits (does it count as an exit if it's actually an entrance? who knows!). leads to many interruptions and sometimes dangerous mistakes. Also the app has too many bugs to name! Would love to be able to use battery saver options while doing nav.

This app has a lot of potential if it was reliable. When I allow it to run in, it is a great program with lots of usable features. But, it's been very frustrating to start the recording only to pull it out a mile or 2 later to see that it had stopped as soon as the screen goes dark. So in my opinion it's not usable without it being active with the screen on. Update. After reading the response from Komoot I checked all the permissions and they are set to allow running in the background, Yet it will only work when active and the screen is on. What you don't want when hiking is a dead battery but that is exactly what you get when using this program.

I downloaded the app and paid for it while I was in the middle of nowhere in the Black Forrest in Germany (I still had a cell signal!). The app is a super resource and I decided to purchase the worldwide maps to save having to purchase anything in the future. The overall performance was very good and I was taken down trails I don't think I'd have found with a map. The voice directions telling me to turn were very helpful. My GPS seems to be slightly off the Komoot data so a lot of times I was walking on the path but the program didn't recognize this--but I was still informed of turns I had to take. I don't know if the GPS problem is with my cell phone or the app, but since the turns were still given to me I don't have a problem with the function. I was unable to figure out how to get the map to turn in the direction I'm walking. The arrow that is by my position dot was helpful when I was trying to determine the way to walk, but I'd like to have the map turn the direction that I'm standing instead of always facing north (I assume). This may be user error/learning on my part, but the map rotating should be standard and shutting off the rotation should be the option. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and the maps that are provided to use.

Annoying that every time you finish an activity you have answer 20 questions and press next, next, next, next ... Also, I don't understand buying "regions". In the app, the screens don't work and I can't actually see how big a region is, and on the web it says "right click the map" but that doesn't work. Also the first time I used it the line showing where I'd been didn't show up after switching to satellite view. Seems like the quality control is quite low.

Dissatisfied with the poor customer/tech support. "send us more info" and nothing really changes. The map can't be rotated. Missing a lot of bike paths built in the past 2 years. Can't modify a trip once started. Can't set a "home" or recurring starting point. Does not remember usual shortcuts/routes. I regret paying for the premium version, it is not worth it.

I've been using this as my main back country map app and it mostly works with a few major flaws. The worst is that when using the robot voice navigation, the robot constantly warns you if you're not on your route - like every minute - and there's no way to turn off the warnings while recording. This wouldn't be so bad, but many, many well-trafficked trails are not on the app's maps, so a huge amount of the time you have to pause the app to shut up the robot. Also, the maps are sometimes in error (I've had streams show up out of nowhere). Edit - it just started failing to let me save routes offline on my phone. I'm probably done with this app.

Trail planning is very good and offline navigation has been great. Easy on the battery too, surprisingly. But I've noticed a few trails are missing around my area. The "discover" function is pretty useless too; I have yet to find any hikes through it. Another gripe is that regions are too small and expensive. I would really like to recommend this app for the trail planning and navigation, but those aren't enough to justify the price.

A decent app for cycling. However, the UI could use updating; it's not user friendly/intuitive at all. The real-time navigation is also a bit off, sometime s telling you to turn right when you need to turn left to stay on the route. Over all, however, I'm pleased with the functionality and hope the UI gets improved with future releases. This app has significant potential.

I installed the app a couple years ago and it worked fine. I stopped using it for a year and, in the interval, they seem to have auto-deleted my account- but they continue to send me emails. The email unsubscribe option loads the app and prompts me to create a new account- there's no option to unsubscribe. Uninstalled the app and now the email unsubscribe option opens the Komoot website, but still required to create an account. So they violate US federal law by not allowing me to unsubscribe.

I love this app so much. I really wish the weather features were available to everyone as a matter of safety. Also I will pay for premium but only if I can pay for it monthly. It's deceptive to even display a monthly price in the app when the only option for paying is to pay the full annual price. This is another matter of accessibility, not everyone can afford to pay for a full year subscription but still would pay for monthly access. Please please please enable monthly billing 🙏

So far, so good. I was looking for a GPS app that was compatible with my cheap/inexpensive bike computer, and this is the only one that works. The route planning is good and easy to customize already great routes in different areas. The price is respectfully good for full access compared to other apps I have seen. Keep up the good work!

There are times this app works as it should, other times it doesn't know its left from its right, literally. Last trip it told me to turn left, I did which tied up with the displayed map, only to be told I was then off the planned route. Also why cant you reverse a route if you have the map stored for off line? Surely that should be easily added, for example, two routes that intersect or have common tracks, why can you not reverse the direction of one route so it matches the other?
