Didn't know that you have know way to build these lego sets without an app. What a waste. The app is very difficult to see what you are trying to put together and. It doesn't layout what pieces you need like the real lego sets. Plus, when you are trying to help build something, you have to flip back through dozens of screens. Lego, just mail me some real instructions!

This required app is super duper! It's required for putting the starter course together and gameplay as a whole. The instructions are the clearest they've ever been for Lego with detailed bricks and full rotation. Lego Mario's bluetooth is basically flawless connecting in a near instantaneous moment once paired. Plenty of sets to add and there's a sidebar for adding them. It just won't add the suits you buy. I haven't encountered the "black screen" issue. Smooth app. It's Lego Mario time!

This app either crashes or gets stuck in a loop with a black screen. We have tried it on 3 different phone (Samsung A10, Samsung S8+, and Samsung S20+) and it happens to them all. I understand Lego is looking to offer additional features with the app but a set of paper instructions should be a minimum. If you want additional features, great you can have them in addition to the basic paper instructions. This is a horrible app and I am deeply disappointed in Lego for allowing this to be released.

Functionality has gotten worse with updates. Use to show sets that were purchased. This is no longer the case. Some sets will randomly show. But going back and selecting what you have doesn't work. Also connecting to Bluetooth is hit or miss aswell as updating Mario and Luigi. More work needs to be done to bring this app back up to standards

My son got this for Christmas and neither my wife nor I can use the app at all. We got the Mario connected through Bluetooth but the screen will stay black with the music playing in the background. After about 20 seconds of nothing, the app will crash. Kept on trying and trying but it doesn't work. Would really like to have it work to have the full experience.

It started off great. I entered in my kids year, watched the intro, connected to their Mario Via Bluetooth and then nothing. Now every time i start up the app it loads the load screen, i see the start pipe, i hit start, then all i get is a black screen and then the app crashes. I can hear the music, but it fails to load what ever it is loading and crashes. I found this to be true on our Galaxy Tab E, Tab A and my S10 plus. No matter what device i use it crashes. Kids cant build anything.

I rate our experience at about 2.5 stars. I agree with a lot of the reviews that the sets should come with printed instructions. It was very frustrating for our family to want to build, and it took me hours. Finally my son's tablet needed to be factory reset to get this to work. Now that's it's working, it's okay except we are having a problem taking photos to share. As soon as the camera activates, the image goes from normal then suddenly is too dark. So all photos come out under exposed.

This app is really fun and works really well! and I love the digital building instructions. There so much more easier than the booklet! I remember times where I couldn't understand the booklet. I like adding my sets and doing the daily challenges and I wish there was a lot less lag, it can be really laggy sometimes. And my mario turns off whenever I leave him somewhere for a while and then he doesn't turn back on for 15 min. Other than that I REALLY LOVE THE APP! (IM EXCITED FOR LEGO LUIGI!!!!!)

Lego Mario is awesome but the new update totally sucks. It was really cool to see your virtual collection built in the app and now the level mixer doesn't even generate cool levels, just a straight line of random pieces. Its almost like what is the point of needing the app if you can't even see what you have. Also it took forever to get Lego Luigi to connect and update because it kept freezing (fixed now). Why change it (for the worse) when there was nothing wrong with it to begin with!

I have to echo the common complaint about the collection display being replaced with the "Level Mixer". If it let you choose options, such as terrain style or a certain challenge type, it might be interesting. However, in its current state it seems pointless, and seeing your collection all together was much more fun. Especially for those of us without space to display it all at once IRL. Also, I had to uninstall and reinstall the latest version for it to progress past the blue loading screen.

I had a previous review that stated I couldn't start the app, but it was only because of a server issue or something along those lines. I can say that the app itself is much more convenient than an instruction manual. The ability to move the preview around is a huge plus, but I wish there was a way to make the purple outlines around the pieces thinner.

Great app and all, works pretty well, and I get trying out new stuff with technology, but the idea of ONLY being able to see the instructions for lego sets on mobile devices? That's just too much. I don't mind there being an interactive app, but at least include paper instructions in the box! Otherwise the product might as well be useless without a way to access the app! I hope this does not continue with other sets, as the app clearly doesn't work very well. Also, can't wait for Luigi!

The new update is a downgrade. I think, like another review said, the 'set collection' should return as its own option and the 'creation suggestions' could be its own thing too, not the main portion of the app. It was fun to see the world grow as I collected more sets. I know that as more sets are released, space becomes an issue, but I am sure LEGO can find a creative way to handle low-spec devices. Creativity is your specialty!

This app is a app for Lego Mario, a series of Lego Sets where you build a set, then make your own levels to play. This app is the only place to find the instructions, and they are great. You can move the screen to see details you can't figure out. After that, you get challenges, other builds, videos, and a place to save your levels. They play is amazing. It is so fun to challenge make levels. To the developer: The challenge glitches Mario out for all modes. Its okay, because you can fix this.

App was fixed after not working for a couple days. Still not a fan of walling instructions behind an app. Just put them in the box. Not the app's fault. App gets 2 stars removed for being unintuitive. For example, if you want to jump ahead in the instructions and build a different piece, you're unable. You have to click/watch every instruction in order before the next even becomes available to click.

Edit: so glad they fixed the issue. Didn't work for long. Maybe two days we had no issues but on the third day the app loaded fine but when it went to the menu screen, the screen darkened and I couldn't click on anything. Really annoying since we need the app to build the stuff we bought! The set should include a set of physical instructions since obviously the tech isn't quite there yet.

I cannot get this app to run. It almost immediately freezes or goes to a black screen. I have tried closing and restarting. Restarting my device, deleting and reinstalling. It just simply won't work on my pixel 3 xl. Edit: it is indeed working. I'm curious why I can't freely rotate all objects? It seems like I can rotate to some point and then it stops. Also, some times when going to the new bag animation, the screen is black and there is no continue button.

I think the app overall is great! However, I think a lot of kids loved seeing their digital collection shown on the main screen and are now sad to see it gone replaced by the random level generator. I think the random level generator is a cool idea, but it shouldn't have replaced the digital collection on the main screen...maybe give it its own menu option?

This app is pretty cool. Sure, my Luigi got stuck in update mode twice, but in the second incident, it managed to fix itself. It's nice to be able to use the instructions to build the sets and to keep track of all your Lego Mario sets. However, the fact that the Mario and Luigi can get stuck in update mode in the first place is concerning. Also, there's a much more minor issue with the app constantly asking you what year you were born in despite confirming it so many times already.

As others have said, very disappointed to see the built village gone from the homescreen. The mixer is fun if we have all the pieces. My 3 boys don't think it's as fun though. I'm glad the sets are still recorded in the "brick+" add a set section, but it would be way better to have them back as a 3D world. If we do add a new set, does it even "erupt" onto the grass anymore? That was a favorite part of the build experience. Please bring it back.
