If you pay for a year in advance, it's the monthly equivalent of Spotify or other monthly subscriptions so not bad if you can shell out the money. Quality is good so far. My main feedback would be to give additional angles when first teaching a sign as some of them are difficult to see the full sign or see the nuance when first learning that sign. I also wish they didn't say the word/phrase for the vocab videos. Several times I end up getting the answer because I read the lips.

Saw an ad, alarm bells went off at "free to sign up" comment, but figured it couldn't be that much. The app on Google Play lists it as having in-app purchases, which is diengenuous. Almost $120 a year (paid in full) or almost $20 a month is too much for me, and there's no free-with-ads option listed. They don't let you know any of this until after you give them your email address. Instantly uninstalled the app. Expensive apps are fine, so long as they don't play games with hiding the price

I love that there's a dictionary to look up signs and that you can see videos even for the words you haven't learned yet. I'm also a fan of the fact that you can slow videos down, too. Lastly, while learning, you get definitions and plenty of reviews of the words you're learning. It doesn't teach you a word once or twice and moves on. It continues to use it in sentences and different ways to help make sure you understand it fully.

A good app for those looking to learn basic signs this may work out, but this is very deceptive in looking like a free app. Anything past basic signs requires a paid subscription. There is nothing necessarily wrong about that, and it shows variations in sign and examples of actual people having "conversations", a nice learning style and there is a 7 day free trial one can sign up for, if the subscription was less than 5$/month I may buy it, can substitute for tutor but too expensive for me.

Overall, an excellent learning experience. The pace is perfect, the sequences mix teaching and evaluating seamlessly. I know so much ASL from just a few hours a week! My only complaint is that if I turn my phone screen off for a few minutes or switch to another app and come back, the app makes me start the current lesson over from the beginning, which is frustrating.

Paywall after learning a few words, feel like more people would like this app if you could just watch ads instead of a membership. UI is great, learning seems pretty easy, but didn't give much longer of a chance since it's way too expensive, almost 20 a month is insane. Knowledge shouldn't be this expensive, I'd understand a one time purchase maybe even 5 dollars a month, but this is completely overpriced. Was severely let down by this

Super disappointed. Advertised itself so well, but didn't mention any sort of subscription service until AFTER asking my email and making me make an account. You get a free trial after signing up, but then everything is locked until you $subscribe$ this is especially disappointing to see because Duolingo already manages this kind of learning perfectly, and no language apps are following their example correctly. They have the same layout, but Duolingo is free with ads with the option for premium.

I loved it and I loved the free trial😎✔️ I did my best to blow through it in a week and I had a blast. I wish I was able to review after my trial was over cuz I DID learn it faithfully and the main goal is to help hearing people communicate better with deaf individuals. It's not a charity but the mission is usually balanced in the grand scheme of things. I felt differently hear.. ANYWAYS. I had to delete because there's not enough free content after trial. An actual free version would be SMART

It teaches very effectively, with consideration of personal and dialectal variation; and it takes the best gamification elements from Duolingo to motivate learning. I wish it were free. It is not. I'm going to need to convince a sibling to pay for a subscription for me after a one-week free trial.

The premium subscription is way too expensive. They give you the impression that they run like Duolingo. But really only give you one or two free lessons before asking to charge you for a premium subscription. Language apps should be more like Duolingo with their Freemium model. Really disappointing. I'd much rather see an ad after every lesson. Extremely disappointed ☹️

It started off great, but after a few lessons everything seems to be locked behind monthly payment which socks because I already knew all the signs I was introduced to in this. Some of us cannot afford paying monthly. I'd prefer ads or a ONE time payment so they don't drain my funds. I thought this would be a bit like Duolingo, but no. It is a good idea but the execution locks many lower income people out. Too bad, I was really hoping to be a more inclusive cashier for deaf customers.

About time for a sign language app! I have been learning ASL on and off since I was a kid, but the saying "use it or lose it" is very true. I have been looking for something to keep me fresh in ASL but most apps I have found are more like dictionaries - definitely useful but doesn't help much in conversational language. The only thing I wish it had was a quiz to test my current abilities so I could skip the baby basics.

From the ads and play store I thought this was going to be a free app with "in-app" purchases. Definitely not the case. You get 10 minutes in and you hit a huge paywall. $120 a year seems pricey. If it was a one time fee, MAYBE? Yearly, definitely not. Or you could do the $17.99 a month option, but that's a no for me. All of this is unfortunate because it seems like a great learning tool.

I have been wanting to learn ASL for years. I saw an ad and decided to try the free trial. The variety of ways they teach and different style of questions really keeps you involved and I just want to keep completing levels. I do wish you could pause dialogue videos but overall this is an amazing app and I would recommend it to everyone!!

I love using this app to learn ASL. I like going at my pace. There's a trainer to practice what I know, there's a dictionary for looking stuff up, and the chapters are outlined so I can refresh my memory or get excited about upcoming lessons. I always look forward to learning the lessons and practicing. I can put videos on slow-mo to see it better, and I can repeat them. If I have questions I use Google or ask my hearing cousin bc her mom (my aunt) is deaf. I like the Streak fires and the graces

Only giving 2 stars cause I enjoyed how it taught, but almost $20/month for something I could learn on youtube??? I think $5/month sounds more than reasonable. But I guess it's just not for me 🤷🏻♀️ (you only get about 2 to 3 days before you can't even use the app without putting your credit card info in 🙄 wish there was a better "free" version

So far, this has been worth the investment. I'm trying to learn to be an interpreter so this is a great study tool. My only issues are that 1) you can't change the time when it reminds you to do it- just does it at the end of the day when I'm about to sleep and 2) I wish it had more versions of a sign. I've seen some where they don't look like ones I was originally taught. Especially for an online resource where you can't teach the local versions, I think the diversity is important. Otherwise 👍

The app is a lot like Duolingo, except it's for learning ASL. It's easy to navigate and learn ASL as a beginner. I was really enjoying it overall! The "slow down" button does help me to learn the quicker signs easier. HOWEVER... It basically gives you an ultimatum- You can't progress without PURCHASING a subscription. Even with the promise of a 7-Day Free Trial, I am still feeling like it's really expensive! Options are to pay $18/monthly, $48/billed every 3 months, or $120/billed annually.

I was originally a college major for deaf studies and ASL interpreting and the program was discontinued. I had about a year left and switched my major to special education. I have been working with more students who need or use ASL and learned the hard way "If you don't use it, you lose it". The app is definitely pricey but worth it. I was able to pick up very quickly but it's great as a refresher as well! I do have so feedback but I don't have enough word space for it. It freezes sometimes.

There are multiple people signing and different variations of signs are shown. It's structured a lot like Duolingo EXCEPT Duolingo offers a way to completely learn a language without a subscription. As a user that has been with Duo for years without a subscription, there is room for micro transactions in your structure to ensure profit without trying to put yet another wall around accessibility.
