Had been using Viewranger for years and had to find something else when it moved to OA. Locus map is perfect because I just don't trust online maps so I need them downloaded. Very easy to use and even got it to work with my old Sony smartwatch 3, which I love. I can pop my phone in my rucksack when hiking and navigate on my wrist. perfect. Support is also very good. Great app, recommend it without any hesitation.

The sheer depth of this app is intimidating at first but once you've set every aspect to suit your needs there is nothing that compares to Locus. It is highly customisable yet easy on the batteries, yes somehow they did that. This app is as solid as you expect it to be and gives you notifications where you set them. Getting off track too much, beep it goes. Love that! Great programming, thanks for getting me out of trouble numerous times now, so now I know, I can depend on Locus, thank you.

This has been my favourite app for anything related to outdoors for many years. But this became a bad example of a company violating its promise for a lifetime version. They bypassed the classic version, now not updated for 7+ months, in favour of their subscription based version 4 offering little more. The basically unsupported classic version is now frequently crashing and keeps resetting my settings with it. Specifically, it chooses some annoying auto zoom feature i need to disable.

Do not install! Deletes all files! I used the free version for a while now and really like the app, the available maps and most functionalities. Since I used it for a few recordings in my last holiday, I thought: let's do them a favor and buy the pro version. I really used it a lot, think you should support people in their work and was also keen to see what other features would be available. Now the new Pro version wrote new folders over the existing app and deleted all my recordings.

been using this app for quite a long time, ok at times I thought I wasn't smart enough to use it, and I'm still learning ... I like the fact that I can import gpx files from dropbox, the guidance alerts (served me well), the geocaching plugin, and the weather module. it's a shame this last one is not available as a widget, so far the only forecast I found with day by day windspeeds. Big thanks to the developers !

The best hiking map there is. You can use your own vector maps and connection with smart watch is absolutely briliant. I have been using this app for about ten years everytime I go for a walk or on a trip, and I love it. Plus one time payment is fair. Subscription? Not so much - even after a decade I would switch in a heartbeat. Keep this option alive and I will keep using it, force subscription and it's goodbye. All in all, if you want a map app, this is without any doubt The One.

Loads of features and very customisable. Perfect for any my mountain biking. I am not sure why this is not more popular in the exercising world. Definitely worth a try. ++Pros: Custom dashboard, don't need a bike computer. Record and navigate a track at the same time. Sync my activities to Strava. ++Cons: A bit confusing in in the beginning with all the options that are available. Still not sure how to get satellite images showing on the maps?

One of the most versatile mapping and GPS logging apps I've tried so far. The downside is only that it's a somewhat complex app and it takes some time to find out how to get things done. It is highly configurable. Otherwise, after i got used to it, it's a very good tool for my needs and the documentation is quite good. Prices for app and maps are acceptable in my opinion. Didn't need specialized maps, and all the maps I've "bought" so far have been within the budget you get for buying the Pro version. Had a problem with GPS logging in the background after upgrading to Android Q and contacted support. Support answered 24 hours later with exact instructions how to fix the problem.

I read about this app while in Slovenia on a blog and decided to give it a go. I havent been disappointed. I wanted it for hiking walking but have since discovered that it also works for tracking other activities and can export to 3rd party apps such as strava. Accuracy seems excellent, usablity gets better the more you use it. There are so many advanced features when you start digging.

Best map software. I use it for hiking in the summer mountain as maping service with pois and as a trip recorder, for skiing during the winter as a recorder, during holidays in other countries and cities too. This app has very wide coverage with lot of features. And great offline navi for hiking. You can import free OSM map. Moreover,it has very low battery consumption on background,so you do not worry about battery on more days trips. Thank you,Locus!

Superb, but shame lack of UK maps. Discovered this when mountaineering in Slovenia last year and it was great then. Since then, it's had loads of incredible upgrades, it's turned into one of the best GPS apps out there. I rarely buy the paid versions, but the Pro version really does have great and helpful extras, so I'm glad I did. Keep up the great work, developers! (But please get more UK detailed mapping!)

Great app! I've been using it for over a decade. I know that the 4th version was released recently, but the capabilities of the 3rd one are enough for me for now (pro version + bought maps). But one thing upsets me. I've tried recently to connect my cadence+power meter (on a bike crank, 4iiii) to the app and found out that it doesn't support them (only speed+cadence). Could you, please, add these type of sensors to the app?

edit.01.01.2021. Locus map is and has been my go to map app for some years and I have always found it very useful. But over the past 3-4 months it has had a problem keeping a GPS 'fix' and tracking / recording a route. It seems to only get a fix when the app is opened. The app is set to not optimise for battery. I know from looking at the forums this is a known issue but no matter what I try the issue continues. I've found that tracking works fine using the free version of the app on an older phone. Without tracking half the value of the app is diminished. If there are suggestions on how to fix they would be appreciated. Nokia 7+, Av10 Android 1

I have used Locus map pro now for five months and it is the best navigation app for your cycling. I have downloaded to a Lenovo P2 with a long battery life and I am getting two days use before the battery dies. Every feature works well, especially route tracking. Brouter works better than the Garmin 600 I used to have at navigating from your position. If you have difficulties with this app it is probably something you are doing wrong. Once you figure it all out the app cannot be bettered by any other out there. Excellent! I have now been using this app for 18 months and have found it invaluable for hiking. After plotting a route across country, many footpaths have been ploughed over, but by matching the GPS positioning to the plotted track it is possible to navigate to a stile over a mile away that you cannot even see. A simply stunning application that enables eerily accurate navigation in the UK and Europe.

Truly an amazing app. The Lomaps are entirely reasonable in their pricing (and you get 3 when you sign up anyway) and aren't far off Ordnance Survey quality. They contain the names of individual buildings, which you can then (usually) search via POI search. Personalise default screen by long pressing then selecting functions. Or create your own dashboard, such as an almost entirely black (battery saving) bike computer set up. I could go on. Truly an extraordinary app.

*** 2021 update - I am still using Locus maps and haven't gone back! I tried different free and demo applications but this is by far the best and most suitable for my adventure, dual sport and enduro riding. Locus has a ton of settings and functions that will require some time for someone to get the hang on it. Once done, I personally do not need to look any further. I use an android device solely as a dedicated GPS, without a sim card and without internet, and it allows me easily to navigate and record with excellent accurancy. Overall it is a great application with very good support when is needed.

I am a bit puzzled. Locus is a great app. Tons of features, active and reactive Devs, etc. I paid for the pro version and a couple of maps. But now, it seems I have to paid again to update those map (LoMap), which I don't really understand why, and I discovered there is another app, Locus 4. It eems to be basically the same, but with a subscription model. That means my pro version is useless (except for a one off discount) and we all now that the old one won't receive anymore at some point.

Track recording is reliable, and it shows useful statistics whilst I am walking or cycling. I usually use it with either the OpenStreetMap classic map or OpenCycleMap. I can upload my tracks to Strava and OpenStreetMap, and I can add notes to OSM. Good value for money. Adding geotagged notes (for use with editing OpenStreetMap) is more complicated than with Osmtracker. I tried Locus Maps 4 but it didn't meet my needs, so came back to 3 Classic

Updating: not simple to set up but awesome once it works. Definitely kept us going in the right direction on some poorly-maintained wilderness trails. Very deep program - I have a lot to learn to see what else it does. But, once you get past the un-intuitive setup, it's great, rock-solid, feature-rich and easy to use. I spent a good three hours figuring out how to set it up, and would have failed if my friend hadn't helped. It's not THAT hard but you have to download the map you want, then navigate to it on your phone with the app, then enable it in view, which is pretty dense. It would be nice if when you downloaded it, you have the option of "Use This Map?" But, the ability to set pins, use different folders for pins, attach files & photos to the pins, and record your track is pretty solid. It's a deep program, and if you're going to rely on it in the wilderness, sped however long it takes at home to really dial it in and understand it. I still have a lot of learning to do. But, it kept us from taking the wrong trail a dozen times on this past trip, when you're confronted with multiple animal traces, and one is your trail, this app is helpful.

Been a free user for several years. Finally took the leap to PRO a couple of years back. I don't pay for apps as a general rule...nor do I lightly give 5 stars (I think this is the only one so far). However, I feel strongly that Locus is worth it. It is the ONLY APP I use for my back-country excursions. All the reviews I've read with 3 or less stars are unwarranted mostly user error/not reading documentation on the use of the app or even their phone in a couple of cases...some were merely trolls. This IS A FANTASTIC app. Keep up the great work!!!
