Best of both worlds. This combines the learn, repeat, revisit pattern of Pimsleur audio study with a visual interface and characters. I love the self-record feature that I can compare with a native speaker. And the color coded English to Hanzi so I know which character goes with which word. The website also features movies with a learning mode that is amazing. Check it out!!

Not only teaches you the language, but also gives you cultural insights as well. Also, takes time to explain why you say the phrases the way they are! I did this program when it was for PC only and loved it then, I was thrilled to see it was released as an app! What is also great is that it focuses on you actually speaking the words in the language, so that you are saying it out loud, and repeating it. You can also record and play back your voice to see if your pronunciation is correct.

The app is very simple. I'd say it's lacking in features. It'd be nice to at least have an option to type the answers. That being said, the app teaches really well. I feel I've progressed in Korean much faster than I have when I used other apps. I was legitimately surprised how fast I felt I was improving, and how easy it was. It also teaches very useful sentences. Nothing strange like "Don't eat the bed" that you can find in other apps.

So far, I'm really liking this app, especially since it's basically free (thank goodness for library cards). I'm excited to see if I can learn a good amount of Japanese through this app. So far, my only major gripe is that I can't control the autoplay speed, which is using the timer speed. The timer speed is so slow that autoplay is essentially unusable for me. This might be handy when trying to compose complex sentences in my head later, but for now, the sentences are extremely simple and I'm just waiting a good 10 or 15 seconds for the app to continue. This speed definitely needs to be adjustable, and there isn't any reason why it shouldn't be.

**Most importantly, it explains the grammar rules! By far the best language learning app out there. Repetition that isn't annoying in an open book format, meaning you can skip over parts you already know and jump ahead or go back with ease. It holds your hand only if you want it to. Essentially, it gives you control over what you study and review instead of it deciding the agenda for today. Also, if your university partnered with it, you get it for free!

Just an ok app. I've been speaking Spanish for over 20 years, and the placement always puts me at the start (level 1). But it's because that's not how real people speak. I came here to improve my grammar, which is lacking, but because of level 1, I get bored since I already know the basics. It is also incorrect on some things I've come across. For example, 'nice to meet you' has many options, but the most common is 'fue un placer' or 'encantado'. Neither were options.

I get to use this for free through my library so I can't comment on cost, but I love this app. No ads and really well designed. Not gamified, but it intersperses grammar info with the lessons which I like. I'm studying Latin and the lesson is based on ancient texts which for this language is better than learning how to say hello.

Love this app, my only gripe is that I'm on Russian Unit 2 Chapter 4 and I still feel like all I can do is give directions to and order food from my Russian friends. I think the priority of the earlier chapters should be more focused on regular everyday talk. But then again I'm not planning on traveling which I feel is more the focus of this program.

Look no further! One of the best I've come across and I've tried a few! It teaches you grammar and explains things thoroughly in a way that makes learning simple! The literal translation feature makes understanding so much easier! Also having the spelling of how the word is pronounced on top of the word corrects so many bad habits from the start! It's almost like actually having a language teacher! And they have so many languages that other apps lack!

I've been doing the duolingo russian course for years and I felt really stuck without a lot of practical russian skills. I saw this app be recommended and I feel like I've learned more from it from just a few weeks than I did months on duolingo. I love the review cards and the voices have better accents when pronouncing words which helps me.

This app is so much better than Duolingo. Sadly, Duolingo had me hooked on their gamification and competition. I realized that I wasn't learning practical things anymore. I still was learning. However, my retention was not great. With Mango, I can run through lessons, and I don't feel pressured to continue when I'm burnt out. My learning is limited purely by my motivation to learn. Thanks, Mango!

I have really been enjoying Mango for learning Japanese! It teaches me exactly how I learn best through using the learned words with different learned words to form more than 1 sentence. For Japanese however, it does not go over hiragana or katakana before diving in, so that is a must learn before learning through Mango. Once those are mastered, this app is flawless!

Fantastic experience right off the bat. I love that it teaches cultural importance as well as grammatical nuances even in the first lesson. Good use of spaced repetition as well. Could use an option to go a bit faster for people that learn at different speeds.

I've tried every language app under the sun after Duolingo axed the one useful feature it had (discussion boards with native speakers). Duo makes you FEEL like you're learning a language, though its just a silly little vocab game that pesters you with ads. Mango is an actual language-learning app, and the best one I've used at that.

Omg, so when I graduated in 2012 and couldn't take language classes in school anymore (due to personal reasons I still have yet to go to college), I quickly found that the town's public library offered language learning on the library website. But you can't access it without a library card number and I moved that year. Ever since, I've been searching for an app to learn with that's as good as the one I used then. I JUST NOW found out TONIGHT that it's THIS! I'm so excited!!!

This is one of the better language apps, and I really like how lessons are structured with a bit of explanations. It's very different from Duolingo, which seemed lessons were pretty random, and I had a hard time following through as it got harder. I can also access all lessons in Mango Languages using my library card. This is a great way to learn new languages.

Compared to other language apps that I've tried (about 5) this is the best because what you learn prepares you to be immersed the the host language (speaking from experience). Also cultural information that influences the language is included helping me understand the WHY. My favorite feature is the no hands/while driving learning mode. This app is worth paying for but it's only for people who are truly serious about learning the language otherwise stick with duolingo.

I'm doing the Russian course, and this seems to be much better than Duolingo, though I've just started using this app. I've got a gripe, though, about the recording feature where you match your voice with a native speaker. No matter what I do, it puts a massive pause in the beginning of my recording so it's out-of-sync with the recording I'm supposed to emulate. Really frustrating, and hope it gets fixed. Edit: Figured it out, have to scroll the recording to the side. Really weird.

This is THE best language learning app hands down. I've used nearly everything on the market. I love that the pricing plan is affordable, but you also get free access with a Library card. No other app has made learning Japanese for me simple, but I love that Mango Languages explains culture points and the differences between forms of speaking. The content structure is amazing. I am so in love with this app.

This is way better than Duolingo has ever been. They give you explanations for why things are the way they are. They give you several different ways to learn for different learning styles! There's listening, speaking, and reading, back and forth conversations you can listen to + review cards. You can also download everything so it doesn't use data on the go. This app seems like it actually wants to help you learn instead of paying for useless subscriptions or gems! Best app ever <3
