A really solid app, great for doing what it says, mapping your run, your distance, your pace and giving you overall splits, and even your calories if you also put in your weight. I am however taking a star off for missing a major functional item that should have been there for years by now: the ability to define your own split times to report to you as you run. Right now it will only report to you major distance markers at either each mile or each kilometer, but you can't define your own splits.

Excellent way to track your workouts and compete against yourself and friends. Friendly competition is very effective in helping me stay motivated to exercise. It's also fun to look back and see all the running routes I have done. Bonus: it also helps me find my way home when running in a new place :) Only drawback is that it drains my phone battery. Any way to fix this issue? Update: I got a new phone so the app doesn't drain my battery as much, so I'm bumping up to 5 stars.

Like how it is more efficient and links to the bike app as well. It does shame you for not working out, but that's my own fault. 6/9/2020 EDIT - Knocking it down two full stars because it keeps asking me to rate the app every time I use it. More bells and whistles, but I have noticed a performance drop as well. It freezes up more than it used to, usually when loading ads.

I've been using this app for the better part of a decade now and it's still one of the best. In fairness I've tried others, for whatever reason either the software or lack there of on this one just seems smoother, specifically in regards to GPS connection, accuracy, and bt music. Biggest detractor, I would love it if they synced with withings heartbeat monitor matches. When I last tried it still wasn't possible

This is a good App. One of my favorite elements is that when hiking the trails show up on the Map as I walk. This is helpful to see the big picture. The distances seem accurate. And this app continures to report every mile, where as some app require you to pay for this. My only negative is that in the last few months, suddenly the App has started pausing on its own, without reason mid-walk, repeatedly. I hope this gets worked out with an upgrade soon.

Simple, straight forward but flexible. I appreciate the accuracy of the GPC tracking. Gives me the info I want without clutter. Still using this app and loving it! Works for my cycling as well as runs! This app has far more features than I utilize, but could be helpful for far more serious athletes concerned with multiple fitness markers.

Not very intuitive to make a route. Should just be like a more free flowing google maps. Tap multiple points on the screen to make a route. But no, gotta make me scroll through a million tabs or make a route on my desktop. Might try later, but I want to run right now. Just gonna go back to google maps or running for time and guessing my distance.

Seems to be much improved over a year or two ago, or maybe I just needed the upgrade to a more powerful phone.. now a Galaxy S23... With my earlier phone, using the camera, especially video, and the MP3 player at the same time as tracking a walk gave very mixed results. A lot of bizarre maps that showed me making a beeline from the halfway point to the end when I was really walking a curving trail. Haven't seen that affect in a year.

It's buggy, misses sections of my runs, and SLOW AF to load up. I've literally been in marathon start corrals, unable to get the app to load (while Strava and Runkeeper load fine). Resulting in me having to continue screwing with the app as the race starts, and missing tracking the first parts of my races. If it weren't for MapMyRun's great intervals, I'd be using Strava only.

I like the application. It gives me feedback on my runs 🏃♀️ and they are accurate. I can set the goal, distance, pace, and time, and the application will let me know my progress, I can also turn this feature off at any time, and best of all it is in different languages. I have the shoes to connect to the app, and it gives me feedback on my cadence, if I should do one thing or another to better my form. I also like the community, I can post my pictures for myself, friends, or public.

I've used this app for years. When I was an avid runner, biking, then during a period of high intensity 90 day x home training cycle ... used it in big cities ( DC, Ft. Lauderdale, Baltimore, Tallahassee, rural areas, beaches, mountains, a few different states too) ... now adays more walking (I guess grrrr) it has worked amazing. Synchs to other apps, allows me to control privacy settings ... a great memory to look back on many years ago too! Love it. Absolutely love it.

Great running app. Used to use Nike Run app but it kept requiring me to go online and log in (via Web browser, not app) every time, which was annoying. So I switched to this. Only complaint is I'm not seeing an auto pause. Maybe it just takes longer to kick in, or maybe I have to turn on that feature somewhere in the app? Not sure, still exploring.

Have used it for years two or three times a week for walking. I use the map my run version instead of map my walk because I like the feature which automatically pauses when I stop for coffee or even for a short rest. On map my walk I have to manually pause it and then remember to restart it. I like the fact you can customize what it reports to you and how frequently while you're walking and of course it keeps a record with a map and allows you to add photos. A great app!

I've been using this app for at least 10 years without issues. However, as of yesterday 5/25/24, when I try to use the app it asks me to complete setup, which I've done multiple times, and then starts all over again at the log in page asking me to complete setup once I log in. I'm guessing an update is necessary, but the app is completely useless until one is available.

I like and use this and its associated apps (MapMyFitness, MapMyRide) to track not only my exercising, but also my travels at times. overall, very good. The main things I would suggest to the app programmers are • turning off voice notifications by default. • automatically turn off power saving mode when running the app, and then turn it back on when one is done.

Still using the app years later. Same base complaints. Although it would be nice if it synced to my watch, or vice versa. I like the app and the live GPS. Unless I'm using it wrong, I wish there was an option to pre map your route so that you have better route choices to suit your needs for that particular workout.

With the newest update, it seems like they dropped the distance display as you run. It only shows after you've completed the run, which doesn't make sense if I gauge what my run is going to be by distance. For example, I want to run 2 miles today, but since I can't see it I'm actually not hitting those goals unless I finish the run and then I have to start a new run to reach it. It's a basic necessity for a running app.

I mostly love this app and since I'm not entirely sure the issues are app or service provider related I won't change the stars, but as others have mentioned there are times when the app seems to glitch, pausing my run when my speed hasn't changed, and if I've silenced it I won't find out till 3 miles or 5 miles later... and if I do have the sound on I have to repeatedly press resume to keep recording. I think it's only happening on my trail runs... so it could be a reception issue. 🤷🏻♀️

17 Aug 22: Getting back in the world of exercise. App makes it way better than earlier. Don't have to plot your every turn afterward. Awesome! Update 17 March 24: I do like the ease of mapping routes now. Tracking weekly stats is adequate, but there used to be a way to see a monthly calendar with stats on it. You could also change to yearly stats. Those options were great. Update 15 May 24. Still loving the app. Challenges are motivating. Still would love to see monthly and yearly stats.

Update. I had deleted the app because the GPS wasn't mapping correctly when I was walking or running. Another app I didn't care for their maps. So I'm back to map my run. Been doing good the past year. I was really skeptical about this app after reading the reviews of everyone coming over from Endomondo. Being in the same boat I downloaded this last week. Transferred all my data that same day but just got a chance to use it today. Mapped my walk good, the stats look correct.
