Slow, unintuitive, and irritating interface as of Jan 2024. Was searching for a Meetup that I know exists, but not in my local area, and it just ignored my search (I couldn't just remove the location). The screen is cluttered with useless information that they want you to upgrade to see fully. Meetup once was a great platform, but has been ruined more and more over the past 4 years.

As someone who's been running a meet up group for 10 years now, I can tell you this app is horrible and has only gotten worse. Clicking on the member list on the menu makes it pop up and then sometimes it disappears and sometimes it stays on the screen. If you approve a new member on the list screen, it just approves them. If you approve them on their questions screen, it pops up a verification box that you can't read because the text is cut off. Looking forward to using a competitor one day.

The concept of meetup is fantastic, and it's a wonderful tool for meeting others with similar interests. I have been an organizer for about 10 years now, maybe 9, and the quality of the app has consistently gone downhill. You used to be able to check off who showed up, which was awesome. You used to only need one app, which was convenient. You could easily access the internet version when necessary. It constantly glitches. Hopefully, someone will make this app great again.

This app is just awful. Truly. It is full of bugs, lacks features, crashes constantly, runs extremely slowly, and doesn't have any of the organizer functionality in it. That's in a different app. I consider it to be almost unusable. The direct messaging works somewhat well, so that is the only thing I use it for.

With every update there are new issues introduced to the app. It's almost like they have no quality control over their software development processes. They want you to use the organizer app to manage your group but that app is even worse. Currently the issue is that you can't manage your draft events in the main app. You have to use the website to even find them. "Support" is non existent. They have never responded to a submitted ticket.

Can't filter by date. Option is there but it doesn't actually filter. So if I wanted to look up events on Saturday morning. I cannot. I have go through gazillion postings (which by the way includes Friday) because whoever worked on the filter feature didn't actually use it. This issue has been there for the last several months.

New set up is terrible. The meetups used to be in order by time if you organized it that way. Now, this whole series thing without times and events at later times shows up first. It's really confusing. 4/2024 update app I'd terrible. It no longer displays events happening today. For example, it showed no events for the Gilbert area with any distance set. I changed my location to Phoenix, and multiple events showed up, including some in Tucson. That literally makes no sense.

Since the update I've had the following problems: desktop site: can't log in. I've tried changing my password, deleting browsing and cookie histories, tried on to get in on 3 different browsers. All I get is "internal server error" message. Phone app: I can only access events I've RSVP'd to. When I try and get into my groups I just get an error message saying something went wrong, try again. I sent a message to the help desk but all I got was an auto response about how to change my password.

While MeetUp is an outstanding concept, the app is becoming less and less user-friendly and has so many glitches it's problematic. On any given week There's a different problem. Right now I don't get notified of new events sometimes until after they've happened! Sometimes it takes over a month for glitches to be fixed. It's unfortunate.

Not enough events near me...too many repetitive yoga/meditation/healing events...too slow to use (slow loading times going anywhere/doing anything on the app and glitchy)...I was really, really hoping that this app would help me make friends, go out more, be more social, etc. All it's done is made me feel worse about myself/things in general due to the lack of events that I'm interested in.

How can this truthfully have more than a 2-star rating? When I open it, it takes more than 15 secs (my screen's timeout) to load any content. If I scroll down to see the list of events, it lags. Stupidly, I paid for MeetUp+ thinking I'd actually get push notifications for new events, but I only get "Last Chance" notifications, which defeats the purpose of upgrading. It's cool that it adds events to add to calendar, I guess. I emailed MeetUp support on 4/28 and haven't heard back as of 5/16...

Great idea facilitating meetups to meet people & make friends, but this app is incredibly difficult to navigate and it's gotten increasingly slow and littered with bugs. No calendar view to find events, loading times are over 10 seconds when viewing a meetup group's page especially if they have a lot of events, messages don't come through properly and timestamps are all wrong, notifications aren't sent as expected. Unreliable for coordinating. This is unacceptable for an app in 2024.

The app is wonky. Glitches happen often. Sometimes you can't reply, sometimes it sends your messages multiple times, it doesn't always notfy you when you have Notifications, sometimes features don't work, etc... However, Meetup has been great for meetng people and finding peeps to do the same things you like to do, so if you want to be in Meetup, you're just stuck with the app.

This used to be a really great app online and phone. This last year I've had more problems than I've ever had in the 8 years I've used it. Every week there's something wrong. It will post an event is happening 'today' that's actually happening the following day (this has happened at least three times in past 2 months). It completely wiped descriptions from past events that I had set up so I can't copy them anymore. Too many emails and too many pop-ups.

Hate to keep dropping stars since I know software development isn't easy but still keep seeing bugs for things that used to work. New member request notifications when clicked don't go to the person's profile like it used to. The private message system is also still buggy. Assuming you even get a notification, everytime I click the message link from the notification, I get an error message. I have to exit out, enter the app, and then go to the message section.

Edit - I'm sorry to say, I had to give this a one-star review, and uninstall. The new app is unusable. The search feature is inconsistent, not intuitive, and doesn't yield accurate results. :( ~~ Only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the search function can be a little wonky if you switch out of your default area. other than that, it's an excellent app that does exactly what I needed to do - find local events! - 2022

Been using this app for over a decade, and don't like how it's evolved. Still functional, but annoying in so many ways. HATE that suggested meetups now display like a dating app! What goes into the algorithm when I swipe left? I may be interested in an event or group, but not be able to attend on that date & time. Who thought displaying time zones as cities was a good idea in an app where location is critical? So stupid. Earlier app versions were more straightforward, better organized.
