NaturalReader is a mobile app that can read aloud a variety of texts like PDFs, online articles, cloud documents, even images taken by your camera and so many more.

With over 1 million monthly users and over 15 years of experience dedicated to AI technology that improves the user’s experience, we are one of the most trusted text-to-speech brands today.

Our app has innovative features like the ability to convert and download text into MP3 files, OCR text recognition for PDFs and our camera scanner.

NaturalReader is also an essential reading tool for those with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. By presenting the text both audibly and visually, readers can focus less on the act of reading, and more on the content they are reading. We also offer a dyslexia-friendly font for closed captions and within our text box.

The character limit on the good voices is very restrictive and annoying. There isn't even a way to buy your way out of it. The other voices are pretty bad. The document feature is great when it works, but I've experienced lots of problems uploading documents. I've seen flakiness in my ability to actually upload them. They convert pageless epub documents into a paginated form, then add pronunciation problems as a result, breaking up sentences across pages and hyphenated words across lines.

The app is somewhat cumbersome to use, but voices are very natural. Not very well designed for reading books. You can search pages but not chapters. If you expand text size, print lines drop off the edge of the screen. "PLUS" voices are much superior to the free standard, But WAY too expensive with monthly subscription rates almost $20. Too expensive for recreational reading. Standard voices ARE somewhat better than my e- book reader, but the e- book reader has much better navigation for books.

It's a trap. I thought this app was great, until after using it for a few minutes I was prompted to make a subscription purchase in order to use the functions that I downloaded the app for in the first place. Without the purchase, users can only continue with 1 voice that is not a "natural" sounding voice. And it doesn't read any text within parentheses... A one-time purchase for access to full functionality would have been way more understanding... but a subscription? Get outta here.

This app used to be marvelously functional. Well worth the subscription. Now, whatever updates they have added has left the AI ignoring my chosen settings so that it skips parentheticals and bracketed text, it freezes any time a settings change is attempted, it takes much longer to process the inserted text, and if I try to copy text from the app for the purposes of note taking it freaks out and flings me way past the point I was actually reading. Whatever they changed, I hope they undo it.

The app is amazing for what I need it for. I have problems studying and staying focused and just hearing it helps so much to stay on track. The voice is about 75% perfect some words you can't get to say correctly no matter how you place it in trying to say it but over all super helpful as it. Only wish it had more control of saving where you left off of different notes and it show up as a media player when playing the voice when my screen times out it plays but I have to onlock my phone to pause

It technically does the job, though the AI readers aren't superb, just a bit more natural than TTS. The flaws are with the program itself: the back button doesn't navigate it just closes the app, there's no way to refresh websites short of removing and readding them (and no way to edit them either), and it chunks things into pages for no reason which adds unnatural pauses mid-sentence. It's not worth the price tag as-is.

Free version is useless. Not only is a limit of 5 min reading ultimately unhelpful, but it hardly allows a good testing experience. Also having the limit, so that every element on a page (including footers/footnotes) is read makes for a horrible experience. Then the price to purchase is not worth it. I would never get enough use to justify such a high cost. Plus I can only imagine that once I made the $$$$ commitment I'd find other annoyances. :(

The voices take very long pauses between highlighted "phrases," which often means pausing for almost a full second in the middle of a sentence, and for several seconds after a sentence. There is no way to modify this. I actually don't understand how others are using this and not finding the constant long silences to be extremely distracting. If this is fixed, I'll probably love the app, but it's not usable with this issue.

Now they've completely changed the app, we may have a sleep timer, but there's only one free voice (I rather have ads displayed), and that voice, as well as most of the Premium and AI voices - are unintelligible and unnatural. They got rid of all the amazing natural voices they used to have, disappointed. Old review: *Love it!! A quickly growing and improving app! My only wish is that there would be a sleep timer, having the audio turn off after a set period of time.*

Best voice reader available. As someone with dyslexia in grad school, it is extremely helpful. It has a clean interface and the voices available are excellent. That said, the app is a bit frustrating. Edits to the text in the app are not always retained after being saved, and the pronunciation editor doesn't reliably change the pronunciation of words in the document. This can inhibit clarity without having eyes on the text.

The image to speech and text to speech work great, but you only get 5 min of use a day. It would be fine, but the yearly sunscription is the only option to get more time, which is kind of ridiculous. I would subscribe if there was a monthly or even 3 month option. Poor choice on the creator's part, because I would have been willing to subscribe if it was a slightly less long-term commitment.

so this app has a range of prices. to get the really natural AI voices, it's $18 per month, which isn't really that bad or there is also a plan for $10 but you don't get the natural sounding ai voices just the regular ai voices. they also have yearly subscriptions. This app can scan paper documents and read them to you, and as someone who is Leagally blind that's a huge plus for me because I only purchased the app to use the voices for my tutorials, but I will be using it for so much more now.

A neat idea, but 1) I'm constantly prompted to log in but then it just returns me to the login screen, 2) the custom pronunciation only works sporadically, 3) battery optimization is off, but NR stops unless it's in the foreground, 4) bookmark feature is cumbersome (2 screens), 5) where do the mp3 downloads go? and 6) it could be smarter about parsing PDF documents that have things where the space between letters is larger (spells them). Too many user experience issues for a paid app.

Your app is trash. I bought this at the recommendation of a friend and regret not looking further into it. when using the app, it misses words, sentences, and highlights the wrong areas of text, which makes listening to the words being read difficult for a nondivergent student. Also, the continual logging out of the app and the frequent messages to "renew my license is distracting and time consuming. I paid for a subscription, which I definitely canceled, and its been a nightmare since.

Update: some issues remaining with the app that discourage me from purchasing the paid version: 1) app stops reading when other applications that use sound are used, and I have to go back into the app to start it again. 2) on some occasions going back into the app re launches it and I have to reopen the doc I was listening to. It does resume playing at the correct point in the doc, though! 3) there's no widget to pause/resume playing yet. Waiting to see if these are fixed before paying for it.

I am using this app's image to text feature. I take pictures of pages of a book to be read. The AI does not read fluidly, misspells words, and when a word at the end of a sentence is split, the app does a terrible job recognizing it. frequently for "the" it says t-h-c. It also pauses at the wrong point in a sentence. this ai is very good. I've used Alexa text to speech and it reads perfectly, for free. The ai in this app needs a lot more training.

Its really useful, I use it for pdfs of old books or online books that have no audio book, so I can listen while I clean at work. It skips and stops playing a lot sometimes, which can be frustrating if your headphones don't have play/pause buttons to fix it quickly. The subscription price for smoother voices isn't worth it for me honestly, but if you could purchase one premium voice at a time for a one-time price, I would definitely buy a few over time.

The AI and LLM voices are excellent, despite some issues with pronunciation, but the app itself has a lot of issues. I'm constantly prompted to log in, need to hit "restore license" constantly, and have had the premium voices stop working entirely multiple times. The plus and premium versions aren't exactly cheap, so it's frustrating to have so many issues with the paid version.

The app uploaded an EPUB to its server to convert it into a PDF, downloaded the PDF, and read the PDF with its TTS engine, pronouncing the word "soft" as "so" because the conversion had changed the "ft" into a stylistic ligature (common in many typefaces) that its TTS couldn't recognize. Apparently the conversion doesn't embed text that conforms to the original content. I assume the conversion is done to allow the reader to only be required to read a single file format.

This is the best, free text-to-voice app I've used. Does what it says it'll do, perfectly. User-friendly, but also offers plenty of settings and preferences, such as: a wide selection of various voices and styles, speech rate of speed, different sources of input, such as copy and pasted text, or pdf, or scanned pictures from books etc. A nice user interface as well.
