Update (1* - I'd give less if I could): The more I use it, the less I like it. Slow, clunky, hard to scroll right to the next story. All in all, I have almost stopped using it entirely when I used to use it multiple times every day. Original (2*): The app is slow and clunky when scrolling between articles on Sports Talk. A much less smooth experience than either of the previous two apps. It also only shows a limited number of Articles and then seems to crash. It is not a good app.

Can you not make an app that requires a reload every time you click over to answer a text? Any loss of focus on the app stops play of the video and when you switch back to the app gives you an error. Reload the app and you're good except you have to sit thru the 30-second commercial. Again. So literally there is NO way to switch to another app while using this unless you're prepared to watch the Mercedes commercial for the 478th time. No reason you can't continue playback in the background.

**Need subscription!** Options for search, filter, and notifications are very limited. Mainly I want to be able to narrow search or notifications by specific Olympic sports. (can't even narrow results to just Olympics) Also wish I could mark events I want to watch that happened already, but no way to do that. Just have to scroll and scroll. Lastly, the repeating commercials in live or recently live streams is so annoying! Same one 30x/hr. Playback is good on older replays, but that's about it

Update sept 2020 The 10 seconds of ads flashed on screen when opening the app is abysmal. While reading an article, the scrolling is choppy and distracting. I get network error messages from this app while others continue to run fine in the background. Navigation in the app is poor as well. Don't use your phone's back button to leave an article, it will take you out of the app(and another 10 seconds of ad splash screen). Instead, you must use the in app back button which is oddly placed.

I want to watch a soccer match starting in the second half. I launch the game. Even though I have watched about 70 min, it starts at the beginning. I guess where I am on the timeline. I get 3 min of ads. The game plays for 10 seconds, then I get 3 min off ads. The game starts then goes to a "will resume shortly" msg. I guess the start point again, three more min of ads. Easily takes 10 min to resume watching. I have quit trying many times. Horrible.

Extremely frustrating. Over 2 years later and this app has not improved even a little. The fact that you can't even submit feedback shows how willing they are to maintain and evolve this experience. If like me you are only interested in Profootballtalk content, because the rest of this is garbage, stick with the online version. Although that is in itself a frustrating experience to navigate, it's still somehow better than the app even on mobile.

I only use it for PFT. The latest version crashes after opening any article. Also, it hangs when trying to swipe right or left, the videos likely get in the way. The videos should be eliminated. They are buggy and not relevant to the article. The execution is horrible. It doesn't appear that they do any testing and it takes months to fix new bugs. I've gone to using a web browser instead of the app. The app is buggy.

Great for watching live! But if you're favorite sport is anything other than a major one like football or NASCAR, forget everything else. You can't search (there's no search bar for anyone to use!), and the sports list is incomplete. You'll need another source to find your sport's TV schedule, and you won't find clips on this app. So 3 stars, because it's awesome for watching live...but fails at everything else.

EDIT: Changed from 3 stars to 1 because they have never added jump buttons for fast forward and rewind functionality. I know you can use the slider to move forward and back but it's not a great way to navigate and is so sensitive that you can never get exactly where you want to go. Most good streaming apps have a jump forward 30s and jump back 15s. Why can't these be added? The company and app team have never responded to that ?. I originally asked 2 years ago and still no answer and no change.

Updating this review because it's been 2 years with no improvement. This app ruins sports. I am very disappointed that the worst I can give this app is 1 star. It must have been developed a decade ago, then never updated. It ostensibly supports Chromecast - just don't try it. Because it crashes. Constantly. And when you restart it, you have to sit through the same ad. Again. And again. NBC should be embarrassed, if the organization had any shame.

I love that, when the app works, I can watch any EPL game. But that is the problem, tons of streaming issues and the app often crashes. It'll work for a few weeks, then becomes unusable. NBCSN needs to get their stuff together. Update: This is the worst sports app out there. Several years on and they still haven't figured out how to be competent.

I used the scores (sports talk) app for news on sports and it was great. It has now been disabled. This app has the sports talk apart of it, but it is horrible to use. Phone back button takes you out of the app. Scrolling side to side on stories, jumps past stories, not very smooth. When you click on a story, then hit the back arrow at the top, it brings you to the very beginning every time. This has an order feature to list what sports you want at the top. Resets every time you come back to app

Update 2020: It's somehow even worse! Trying to watch a game is nearly impossible. Same issues as always. This is easily the worst streaming app I've used; It's fundamentally flawed. The fact that it can't run in the background is an issue due to how long sporting events are. Every text or incoming call will interrupt your viewing. If it's disrupted for longer than a few seconds, it loses its session data and you're forced to watch the repetitive commercials before resuming.

Choosing a game or program and then clicking "Play Now" won't play the program you want. This was an awesome app a few months ago that worked consistently, and now it's just a huge disappointment. Just when I had forgotten how crappy an app this was when I first reviewed it, there's a black screen in place of the live match, even after closing it and two reinstalls. Utter garbage!

Great app!! Only thing I wish was different/better is the app for the PS4. It might be the PS4 itself but I can't watch anything in the app. I have to go to the website to watch the games/event. Other than that I really like the app. I like how you can choose multiple teams to follow as well as your favorite(s). It's great video quality (HD) as well. Every once in a while for about 2-3 minutes it might be a bit laggy or blurry. Again that could be the platform I'm watching on, I'm not too sure.

Doesnt work with chromecast. Kicks me off every few minutes. Of course ads work perfectly. Also, the clips dont play to the end of the match. Some of the football games are short by 10 minutes! Such a buggy app! Dont know why nbc would make an app that isnt compatible with chromecast. How many of us actually want to watch a sports event on a phone when we could be watching it with family and friends on a larger screen?

The stream constantly drops with Chromecast. It takes a couple of minutes to get it back up and casting, but then we're subjected to the same commercials time and time again after restarting. Not worth the effort. Update: Nearly 4 years since my original experience and things haven't gotten any better. Programs suddenly end in the middle of the event. Attempts to restart bring up a different program altogether. And chromecasting is hit or miss.

On my Kyocera through Sprint, tried to watch some F1 but it won't load and keeps shutting off. I can't get it to do anything but start. When it starts, it will load what is available to watch but won't play. Other times it just starts, runs for a few seconds then shuts off. Worthless app. Update The app does work better with a newer phone and better service. However, the commercials are repeated over and over again and its makes me hate hearing them.

What is the point of releasing an app if you can't even make it work? I've downloaded all recent updates, restarted my phone (galaxy s4) and when I try to play a live event it just shows black for a second and than closes the stream. Pointless. EDIT: It's 2024 (11 years later), and their stupid app still fails to work more often than not. This is ridiculous.

I'd rate it lower if I could. This app is completely bogus. I have a valid account, have linked it up and allowed all permissions needed but over the last 3 years I'm always told HULU can not access the games I want...even if I am literally watching it on HULU on another device. These are NOT blacked out games for my location. Live TV skips and buffers constantly and the over all feel is cheap and worthless. Disappointingly considering how long NBC has been a company.
