It is not very reliable. Sometimes it will not connect to the cameras and then a few minutes later will work OK. After about two weeks it stops working, not recognizing the cameras were ever connected. Only a download solves the problem. On reload and logon, it recognizes the cameras imediately. The app needs work. 18 days after new download the app again failed to recognize the controller with an internal fault message. After download, worked fine. I pad does not have same problem so far.

8/19- still getting token error regularly, forcing bell reset. Zero help. 6/19: I cleared the cache, no effect. This app is a disaster. It doesn't stay logged in, by default it doesn't play a sound when it has a notification and it stops sending notifications for no reason, usually requiring a doorbell reset which means taking the cover off. On the upside the camera stream is clear and smooth and I do not get offline error others mention. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product at all.

Constant, daily forced stops to keep app working. Every couple of weeks its good a for a complete disconnection from my receiver. Have to dump cache/storage and sign back in to reconnect. ***Edit.....I do not appreciate your little cookie cutter response to my review. Obviously cutting and pasting text is all you people know. I've opened up and read the .apk for your app and the .exe for your desktop program. We both know you dummies cut and pasted 90% of "your" code straight from open source.

I've been having this system for about 4 years now. It started out working fine, but here lately, it will not let me log into the app at all to view while being away from home or at home. Nothing has changed. All settings are still the same. I'm really thinking at this point to just get rid of the whole system and get another brand that will do right by its customers. Just discovered that Night Owl no longer supports the live view of a product that's been purchased 2 years or longer. Don't buy

GOOD/ BAD. We bought the system in 2019, the cameras work great. The problem is the app started out great for the first 6 months. For the last year the app goes offline, can't log in, can't connect etc. Sometimes when you get a notification and you click on it it won't play. I'm not sure if your programmers are not highly skilled or if you have any programmers at all, if not maybe you should get a few and get these issues addressed. I don't think I'm the only one out here that feels this way.

Gives motion notification. But I can't view it. Live is about the only thing that works. Reading a lot of the other reviews, this has been an issue for awhile. When are you going to fix it!?!? I have done everything you suggested. Still won't connect 99% of the time. Really!?! The best camera out there and you can't figure out an app connection issue???

Worst app ever!! I have literally never before experienced any app to be this terrible! And for so long, like it never improves-no changes are EVER made to make this app work better. It's ridiculous, it lags ridiculously bad and ALLLL THE TIME, not occasionally bad phone service, its ALL THE TIME. I will get a notification that there is motion, by the time it actually let's me see the live view, the motion has been over for 10 minutes! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON NIGHT OWL CAMERAS, HUGE MISTAKE!

This app is just terrible. It can't find my second device and the playback just clocks for my first device. Both devices are connected to the DVR as i can view them on the monitor. So much for piece of mind when we are away from the house. And I have been waiting for over 30 minutes for someone to respond to my chat support request. **9/12 Update. Was able to use chat to resolve. Updating the rating but not by much. Playback buffers a lot even while connected to Wi-Fi. Data it never loads.

This application has been an absolute nightmare, I'm so disappointed. When I first downloaded this application, I enjoyed it. It gave me the capability to view what was going on at my home, but now this application sucks, and it is constantly crashing. I will never purchase nightowl cameras again. I'm changing all my security devices to ring.

App was working, and now it's saying invalid. Uninstall and reinstall, still the same. Telling me invalid password when I know it's correct. All permission are allowed...so apparently this is now become a waste of money if I can't use it once again. TRASH . Don't waste your money. Only works again when it wants. Updated app or not. Cleared everything and still dosen't work. Scaned the QR code even to find the right system..dosen't work. Money down the drain. I'd give this no stars if possible

I thought they were releasing an update to fix the login/offline issues. Since downloading the update, I can no longer login to my system from anything but directly in the DVR. This has got to be the absolute worst available. Just before the update, I could not get recordings to play, download, anything. I've cleared all my caches, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, tried multiple devices, but nothing works,even though it shows offline I still get motion alerts??? Fix this or you've lost me 2

May 2,2024 app still isn't working properly. I have to tap it a million times and if I'm lucky it opens and not with the pictures black with circles. Here we are April 30, 2024 and again having problems accessing the app. Will it ever be fixed correctly? Now why can't I access my app? I can log in but have to tap the play button a million times and it may or may not open? This is getting ridiculous! I now can not get into the app since the evening of October 6,2023. App keeps saying offline

App is working again with Android phone. Thanks _---------------------- Hi there, When playing any events with the night owl connect app, the slider bar never have worked. I wish you guys can fix this. It would be much easier to watch the events without having to watch the whole video to see what's on the video. Thank you

I am still getting no notifications on my phone. I might get one every now and then but almost every time someone walks in front of the cameras it never sends notification. I do have it set on motion on my phone. I wish they would get this straight because it is very important for people to be able to view their cameras when an alert comes through and that the event freezes when you try to look at it and then it times out

Horrible app. Every 3 or 4 months system says offline and can not view remotely through app. Can view on the monitor in home but the app for some reason shows offline. Reset router did not fix logged out logged back in did not fix. Reset to default and reset entire system and re set up still does not work. Worst camera system I have ever owned. Had baby monitors that I could view wirelessly that worked better than this system. Once again here we are in 2023 and again the system doesn't work.

This app is utterly useless. You can not view your videos AT ALL. All I can do is view live. It gives you the option to review videos but all it does is load and never actually shows anything. This has been a problem for a year now. I plan on replacing the system and never using night owl again. Update.. 4 years later and problem not fixed. Thanks for the roely form developer saying they were aware and working on a fix in 2020. I'll never buy night owl again

Pixel 7 doesn't allow for Night Owl HD to be downloaded. I downloaded this instead after much searching to find the difference between protect and connect apps. The app will see my DVR and when I type in the username and PW of the device, not the connect ID, it states that the device can't be added. Frustrating to say the least. Any help would be appreciated.

Not user friendly. App doesn't refresh if you close the window. You have to close out whole app to refresh. Support cannot do much remotely if one of the cameras are out. If you want to watch footage from the phone you have to let the whole hour of footage play you cannot fastforward through it. This is such an old system it is poorly made. It needs extreme updates. The whole system really needs an adjustment.

Can access cameras live remotely but they lag and don't always refresh. As far as viewing any recorded events remotely from the app, forget about it.. The DVR is wired directly to high speed Internet with no other devices connected to same network. Hard drive is fine, I am able to view events directly from DVR fine. The 931.51GB of storage on the DVR is set to record over the oldest recording once it is full. It would be nice if they would just develop a entire new app to replace this one.

This, by far, is one of the worst apps that I have ever used. The notifications that you are only getting it at the beginning when you install the app. After a few days, you get no more. The video freezes a lot, and it's very slow. History sometimes is really hard to access. They don't take care of this app. Fixings and updates are very rare.
