I'm using OsmAnd+ on a Moto G6 running Android 8. It's VERY laggy and slow to react when rendering the screen. I'll be 1/4 mile beyond a turn or an exit before the little location icon comes to that turn or exit on the map. I can't tell you how many turns and exits I've missed because of this lagging ... which is very annoying when driving on a tollway where the exits are few and far between. The screen does not render smoothly ... rather, it jumps from position to position.

This is a power users' GPS. You download maps for the areas where you drive in, you start adding destinations to navigate to, and then you turn on the navigation, and this app handles navigation even with multiple waypoints without needing a constant Internet connection. Only cons are that OsmAnd has less POIs compared to Google Maps and lacks traffic information, at least in the US, but the lack of POIs can be worked around by importing GPX or KML files ahead of time.

I love this, great for bike rides. This app may have been a bit confusing with all the features at first. But I love all of the features. I'm able to use this when I'm in different countries and for biking. It just works, most of the time. There are some issues with routing when driving at times and the interface could use a bit more work but the new designs and interfaces are bangin. Good job, keep up the good work and thank you.

Fairly helpful app, really useful in the areas where the maps are actually developed, but seemingly void of a significant amount of content in some places. Used it for hiking and wildcamping in western/central Europe and was satisfied with the amount of trail networks, natural springs noted, certain shelters and etc that the app featured. Would be 5 stars if all the maps they have had sufficient information for me.

My favorite app of all time. While Google has the best commercial data, OSM has the most road, trail, and landmark detail. This app makes it all available, including navigation, offline. But there's one huge problem - Google cripples applications so they run slower on microSd cards - about 10000 times slower in this case. It just locks up. Use the F-Droid version, grant it "Allow management of all files", then select a microSd directory outside of the /Android directory.

I use this mainly for motorcycle navigation with routes that I create in Google maps. It's excellent for that and for offline navigation. Reducing to 4 stars because I can't find a way to kill the app. it will seem to be closed but the keep sending notifications about navigation. Also the process for loading gpx routes is not intuitive. it is there but hard to find.

For a long time, once you'd purchased the plus version, you were able to access all maps. The devs have arbitrarily changed this, insisting I pay for a subscription or individual maps. Sorry, no. I would be fine paying $5-10/year for new maps, but your new model simply doesn't work. One of my favorite apps, now no longer used.

I have been using OsmAnd for a few years and find it fantastic. I love that I have full control if all my stored addresses, favorites, routes etc. I have used it all over Europe, USA and Canada and it had worked extremely well, mostly when I have been offline. I have found the user interface a bit confusing. I like that there are many options available to you but feel they could be better organized. I'd strongly recommend this software, especially if you like offline use.

Bought OsmAnd+ for my Flip 4 to use with Android Auto in my car. I love the look of the map and that it uses Openstreetmap (much more accurate than Google Maps). But, the routing is weak, and I find myself ignoring it since better routes are obviously available. And, this is a show stopper, the auto center does not work. It places the car position off the right side of the map during navigation. Of course, that makes it unusable. Reported the issue top OsmAnd support, but no response in two wks

My go-to app for navigation, particularly because it's offline, and also because the map data is open-source. The major weak spot is that the US address lookup is mostly brain-dead. Also, the navigation algorithm doesn't understand US freeway exits. The voice instruction should be "take exit 58", not "turn slightly right". If/when these are fixed, I give it all 5 stars.

Practically useless for basic point to point navigation. This app has trouble parsing street addresses. Instead of locking in a destination, you get search results for the nearest matches for the street name when you enter an address. So, in essence, there is no way to just enter an address and navigate to it. The lack of granularity is completely baffling and means this app cannot effectively be used as a substitute for Google Maps.

Excellent map. However, after last update. The map requires you to click on grant access on Android Auto. The car must be stopped and in parked to look view maps. Even after you do that, it'll occasionally still flash grant access and unable to look at map. After the latest update, it's back to working normal. I think OSMand+ has beautiful maps with lots of detail. However, they're on the fly Navigation is slower than Google maps but the map quality more than makes up for that.

A powerful but not always intuitive app to use. It's my favorite, though, because I'm not locked into a subscription model to use all of the features. I was happy to pay for OsmAnd+ after using the free version (OsmAnd) for a year. It's a great app for importing GPX tracks for offroad rides, yet have the ability for turn by turn on-road directions without needing an internet connection. I wish you could set the order and resize of some of the features, like posted speed limit and actual speed.

The maps themselves are excellent, maybe the best out there. However the navigation features are lacking. Most local businesses are missing. For example, it says the closest Home Depot is over 200 mi away while there is actually one 2 mi away. Also the user interface is cumbersome for car navigation because it tries to do too many other things.

Last time I used O+ was 10 years ago. Since then UI etc have substantially improved. However, for a new user, this app is a frustrating nightmare. Can't go into detail here. It is stubborn it wants to get you to destination its way. Be prepared to do several dry runs spend LOT of time to figure out the settings and to match them with reality. The maps are great, detailed, lot of customization. It's great for foot, hiking etc. One can add missing feature (I myself have added tons of them).

It may not be as good at directions as Google Maps the OSM maps cover way more than just driving, transit, and waking. If you find the maps aren't accurate you should update them in OpenStreetMaps and not rate this app poorly ad it only consumes the OSM maps. OsmAnd itself is great. All sorts of ways to customize it to the way you want, layers, details, navigation, it is all here. Spend some time to customize it. Great for driving, hiking, all sorts of usage with great world maps.

Recently, the app crashes all the time. Basically, it's not usable. This problem started probably somewhere in June. My previous review follows: It's a great app. I use it for navigating thru the city whenever I don't know the neighbourhood. Way better than Google Map. Finding POI, addresses is easy. Recording a route with added notes - super. Thanks, guys!

This is a cleaner app than Google Maps -- less clutter on the screen and a more intuitive interface. It also runs much faster than Maps on the same hardware. I like the ability to download maps state-by-state as I need them. My only complaint is that it asks about once a week for me to upgrade to a subscription, when I have already paid for the "plus" app. I click the "X" and it stops asking for a few more days.

I was willing to overlook the bloated interface with endless settings within settings, the fact that address lookup has literally never worked, the busy display, the clunky controls, and the insane amount of fiddling needed to do some of the most basic things, but recently it completely stopped being able to work offline, even to the end of my street! Settings didn't fix it, deleting and reinstalling didn't, now I'm stuck using the free version so I can route offline. Wish I could just fire them

Definitely an alternative to google map. Especially of late, there are too many things that google map is trying to do in the back ground, but it's hard not to use google map since it's integrated into many other apps. EDIT: As of the latest update, I have to say, this map app is a definite challenger to the map app that's in every navigation search results, the Google map.
